They are both very good games. The All stars in PS2s library.

P4 has better gameplay, graphics, and pacing, but P3 felt more personal to me. Coure it could jsut be bias since I played P3 first.

P3 felt more grounded, dire, and dark. And dat ending.

I love them both ( though I kinda wish Atlus would hop off both of them for a while), but P3 I'd say is one of my favorite games of all time.

Both are amazing, and whatever opinions you and other have for them ranging from their tones/characters/story and and such can be quite subjective (ex. imo P3 had a much larger diverse OST than it's sequel, and as Leemaster pointed out, has the best final boss of all time). but overall P4 is everything mechanically done right.

All in all P3 can't be missed and you should give P3FES a go, maybe even a go for P3P too for the fantastic FeMC campaign. But fair warning, the PSP version kinda gimps itself with the lack of animated cutscenes. :/

Hell, give the SMT games a go too! Atlus RPGs are everyone's friend... even when they grind your face into the dust. Translation: They're f***ing hard, it's great.

You know, after playing Personas 2-4, I found out that at least for me personally every new part is A LOT better than the previous one.
What I mean to say is that I think that P3 is overall worse than P4, but it is still a lot better than most of the games (JRPG or not).

EDIT: Yes, Persona 3 Portable (PSP version of P3) is avaliable for Vita. You can even play as a girl ini t.
