So.... Persona 4. Which version should I get?

I've heard nothing but great things about Persona 4, and I figured that since 5 was just announced, I should probably give this game a shot. I remember trying to get the game when it first came out, but it was sold out at my local GameStop. Never tried looking for it again at that point.

So I ask you Persona 4 veterans, which version should I get? The PS2 version, or the Playstation VITA re-release? I can most likely just get the original for cheap online since I still have a PS3 that's backwards compatible, but are there many features on the VITA version that make it worth shelling out cash for a VITA?

I wouldn't recommend buying any console for one game. You can honestly look up the differences between Golden and the normal version, there are quite a few. There are a number of great titles for the Vita, and it's a great console in my opinion.

I really can't recommend someone buying it for a solitary game though. I'd say you should look into the Vita's library and determine if anything interests you as well.

If you can afford getting Vita, then definitely go for Golden. It is simply better in almost every aspect. It has more content, more Personas, more Social Links, better graphics and vastly improved gameplay. The only thing that original P4 has that P4G doesn't is Chie's and Teddie's original Voice Actors. But, honestly, after hearing Chie's original VA I can only call it a disadvantage. Erin Fitzgerald is just too damn good.

There are a number of titles I'd recommend, purely from the retro library. They aren't exactly exclusive to the Vita they, I'm quite sure you can play them on your Playstation.

I have no idea what your tastes are scorptastic, I could only tell what I've enjoyed thus far.

I'd recommend Soul Sacrifice and Muramasa Rebirth as well if you're iffy about a Vita. There's also a Y's game coming out soon and other RPG's on the horizon. I'd recommend you see what's out and what's coming if you don't have a Vita... though I'd still recommend the Vita version for Persona 4.

Muramasa always did look interesting to me, and I do love me some RPG's.

I like that. Sounds like a catch phrase! A really corny and cringe worthy catch phrase, but a catch phrase non-the-less!

OT: Anyway, frankly I can get into most games if I'm enjoying them, I like RPG's, platformers, games like the MGS series, stylish action games, ect. Oddly enough, I can't seem to get into RTS games such as Halo Wars or Europa Universallis. I just don't seem to have the mind set for them.

I'd recommend grabbing the PS2 release. Though that is solely due to the rather shallow reason in that I prefer Chie's original voice.

Whatever one you want, I wouldn't buy a Vita just for it, but if there's other games that interest you then sure go for it. If not then stick with the PS2 version. You are not missing too anything important from the new content...

I speak as a man who performed the ultimate stupidity in buying a vita for this one game in particular.

P4Golden is spectacular, and if I hadn't played P4 before it would have been even more so. My insane love for the SMT brand justified the purchase of a vita for me, but if you're not as hardcore into the franchise, you'll want to make sure the Vita has other titles that interest you before putting down money for it.

All things being equal, though, P4G is the superior model. it has all the things that made the original great, plus a metric ton more

Purchasing a Vita is worth it to play Golden. The game is flat out amazing and my personal #1 all time favorite game. Golden also has some really good additional content, better graphics, better gameplay, basically better everything.

Also the Vita does have some other good games. Muramasa Rebirth, Soul Sacrifice, Gravity Rush and Uncharted Golden Abyss to name a few. You also have access to a huge number of classic PSOne and PSP games (including the fantastic Persona 3 Portable).

I will always recommend buying a Vita whenever anyone asks, because Persona 3 and especially 4 are just so god damn good.

If you have the cash to slap down on a Vita, go for it. It's an investment I'm certain you won't regret if you're interested in Japanese RPGs. In regards to Persona 4: The Golden compared to the Vanilla version, check out this [http://megamitensei.wikia.com/wiki/Persona_4_Golden] list of gameplay changes. It's a pretty significant increase in content from the first game. The most important part, in my opinion, being the new social link, extra dungeon and the addition of a huge prelude between December and the Good/True End at the end June.

I haven't played P4G, but you really can't go wrong with the original.

Do you have a Vita? Get Golden.

Do you have a PS2? The original is less than $20 for a brand-new copy.

Take your pick. Either way you can't go wrong, it's one of the best RPGs of the last few years.

If you have the money, obviously go for the Golden. If you don't care about "new content" , balanced gameplay, and just for the story, go for the Ps2.
