I don't know how many people here follow him, but here it is anyways. After hitting 50 million subscribers, Pewdiepie kept up his promise and has deleted his youtube channel.

Honestly, I didn't see this coming. The joke was blatantly obvious, but I still didn't see it. And the fact that clickbait media covered it so feverishly makes it even funnier. This video has made me just love the guy. I'm so glad that he's the biggest youtuber on the internet. This is the biggest troll anyone in his position could have hoped for.

How do you feel about this (please watch the video before commenting)?

I was never a fan of PewDiewPie, but his Dark Souls videos did make me laugh. "Surprise, mutha-fuckah!"

As for someone who actually like PewDiePie (raise shield), I kinda glad he didn't went through it. In saying so if he actually did delete his channel, I was expecting him to announce a new place to post his videos on.

Here's my train of thought watching the original video:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6-_4Uoo_7Y4

"There's a problem with YouTube..."
Yes.
"YouTube is changing how people view videoes, throwing nonsense into people's feeds, and they're randomly dropping subscribers, and it sucks."
YES
"It needs to stop..."
YES!!!
"...because YouTube is trying to kill my channel!"
[record scratch]
"They want me gone, they want to replace me with the cancerous Lilly Singh!"
Wait what?
"And it's because I'm white!"
I'm out.

Also, I think it's interesting that he complains about media clickbait when he's literally doing bait-and-switch stunt videos like this.

I was never a fan anyway, but it would have been quite cool if he actually went through with it and deleted the channel. But ah well, it's hilarious that all media jumped the hell on it and built his subscriber numbers up.

He...didn't. He deleted some other channel he had. The channel called PewDiePie is still on (this video is posted there).

OT: ...OK? I hadn't heard of this news. Not sure if I need to follow more news outlets or my current amount of news following is enough.

At any rate, I've seen a couple of thing from him and wasn't to my taste. I never really hated him [footnote]for some reason most people who express that they aren't delight by him also like to harp on how awful he is[/footnote]. So...whatever.

There actually was a kind of legit reason for him to delete it, which is basically that his amount of subscribers doesn't really reflect how active a viewer base he actually has. Deleting his channel and making a new one would be basically like cleaning out a hard drive that would remove his inactive and possible bot subscribers, and only leave real people who actually follow him. He's made videos about it previously.

That doesn't really apply here. Technically everything he said in the titles and videos about this was true.

This looks like one of those "I'm leaving facebook forever!!!!" things.
Isn't he getting enough attention already?

"Technically"? Dude, that's what clickbait media usually is -- something that *technically* isn't outright false but framed in a way to make it seem more serious or important. And that's exactly what he did with his histrionics.

I think he was being intentionally ironic, proving a point.

His reason actually made sense. YouTube has been really screwing the pooch this year. They deleted two very popular channels, smaller channels get no attention while Late Night show clips and movie trailers get shoved in your recommendations. And lately there's been a bug where every time you upload a video, you lose 200 subscribers. I wasn't even getting notifications that this one channel I'm subscribed to and they were uploading at least twice a month.

Then there's demonetisation on videos that are about certain things but music videos that have the same certain things gets to keep their money though Prank channels get to keep their content as well. And also YouTube Heroes, which doesn't sound like a bad idea on paper and I was excited to be a part of it and signed up but never got a response back.

And all of this can be fixed if YouTube would just talk to us. Tell us what is going on.

Whatever his quality of content is like, I'm kinda annoyed I fell for it. It would've sent a strong message out to the community, especially YouTube since he's their biggest content creator as far as subs go. And yet he decided to troll everyone instead. So what was the point?
