It's ok if you don't. I don't think it was reported on a lot.

Well it turns out my home country of Ireland has decided that they should do a bill like that as well.

However there will not be a vote on it. Not even a debate on it. Minister Sherlock (Awesome name. Crap TD) is planning to write in a law that will introduce Irish SOPA and have a much more open ended definition then the American one did.

Information can be found at the above link.

My request is simple. Help.

If one of these laws gets past the government in the world it will hit us all bad. After all the internet belongs to everyone and if they start policing it were we have free speech then we are all FUBAR'd

Sigh... like communism and terrorism before it, piracy is becoming yet another real world issue that governments wants to address by limiting civil rights.

Signed, for all the good it will do. God, will this madness never cease? There needs to be a mechanism to have people like Mr Sherlock immediately expelled from office for intentionally and entirely bypassing the democratic process.

I'm sorry, but doesn't that seem a little harsh? I mean, if he's got to die, he should at least get some cookies to go along with his last meal.

OT: Wait, he can do that? No debates or anything? Damn, that kinda sucks. I've signed the petition, but that's probably the equivalent of fighting the waves by throwing rocks at it. Still, we can hope.

an emergency brainiotomy of the SOPA supporters?

OT: that's shit for two reasons:
1. It's SOPA again.
2.

this. David Cameron will probably do it too. meaning England and Wales will be fucked. and people will put more weight behind Scottish inderpendence, and then everything will got to shit. and then Holyrood will draw up a SOPA. then America will do it again.

Signed it. Éirinn go Brách! (It's corrupt enough really, it doesn't need to curtail people's freedoms as well.)

why do you want to do this terrible thing? The world has spoken and it says "No SOPA Please" politicians need to learn when they are beat, and just back the hell down.

Cameron has already alienated the entire working class of this generation, to introduce a variant of SOPA would simply be the nail in his political coffin.

OT: Bills of this kind are unacceptable and seek simply to destroy one of the most promising enterprising possibilities. While Ireland may not be home to a large percentage of websites it would be a paving stone to other countries falling into the same trap. Aside from the effects on the rest of the world, even a partially censored internet is a bastardised one.

I wish I could help, but my signature will have no sway in the matter, not being from Ireland and all.

My small percentile of Irish blood is crying out in support. This is one of those times where the concept of nationality feels like a barrier.

"Fuck being from Quebec, I wanna sign this shit!"

And yet, his alienation was required in order to fix a very real problem, you can find it here: http://www.debtbombshell.com . My only regret, I fear he hasnt fixed it, in trying to hard to not piss people off, he introduced only half measures that pleased noone and fixed nothing.

OT: Ill sign, though it seems odd to me that I can, really, I mean, of all the people in the WORLD that the Irish wouldnt want signing their partitions, its a Brit, or more accurately an Englishman. Nevertheless, should this pass, it would set a terrifying precedent.
