Was always more of an Unreal fan myself but yeah, it's pretty disappointing that high reflex fps games have gone the way of the dodo. The new Tribes game is supposed to be pretty good however, haven't checked that out myself yet but I've heard good things about it.

Nope, I dont remember those times because they didn't happen. Quake, doom and wolfenstien all had extra content added for a price. The only difference between that and now is that now you download it and then it came on a disc.

I like the modern shooter. I really enjoy games like Gears of War and CoD's single player. I played Quake (I'm not really the type who cares about graphics) and I found it fucking boring.

If you have a PC you'll probably like 2012 with Hawken and Natural Selection 2.

Hawken - Mech-flavored tactical arena shooter. Think of a slow Unreal Tournament with a few layers of strategy to compensate.

Natural Selection 2 - Possibly the only FPS/RTS hybrid in existence.
