Consider my question double-answered. Have a nice day.

Let's get on-topic again, shall we?

My take on this: Cool thing that Sony is not made up of complete fucking idiots. Who would've guessed that. I always thought they were an internationally-operating multi-billion Dollar company because they got lucky, not because they knew their shit. They showed me there alright.

Give Anon what they want.

Thank god imma pc gamer.
Me and my alienware are having a loads of fun playing mmos and mutlitasking.
No service charges....(XBL)no down servers(PSN)...just lots of great, and many times free games with epic graphics and multiscreens(PC)
Nah, real PC gamers don't buy Alienware.

/continuing childishness

OT: OK then.
a Real PC gamer?
What constitutes a REAL PC gamer?
I doubt you've built as many computers as I have, or dedicated as much time and money into video games that I have.
Come back and tell me that once you've
1.Built at least 100 PCs in about 8 1/2 years
2.Spent at least 2200 hours of in game time in an MMORPG or similar game
3.Spent a summer building and selling computers as an out of home job.
4.work as an official wiki editor for an MMORPG

Nope?
I'm the real PC gamer here, youre just a wanna be.
Wow. Dude.. just because your entire life is consumed by an MMO doesn't make you a "real PC gamer", it just makes you pathetic and sad.
Time spent locked away from reality isn't related in any way 'cool'

Yea... i was very interested in WoW til I saw it on a mates comp, then later that night (early morning) I dropped in to see he was still glued to it with the same unfocused zombie/lemming look

I saw this for what it was and decided I liked coitus more.

whats with the whole "build your own" thing anyway?......

I mean if people jsut want a completle machine right there ready to go whats wrong with that?
They're generally cheaper, for better spec.

I'd never get a pre-built desktop...
I guess...but still some people act like your commiting some kind of sin against the glorious PC gaming master race if you so much suggest getting alienware

see THIS is why people are annoyed with PC gamers they can be elitist even to themselves!

oh and you know what? given the choice Id get a gaming laptop! portability rules!!!! hehehe

PC is a PC no matter what you get, as long as you love it and it puts up the numbers and performance you want, then who cares what one you got?
apparently a lot of people do, and that, is very silly.
Nobody cares until you invade multiple threads to brag about your shit. Then we tell you what a fool you are. Yet you still wonder why. Alienware is a great product for those who can't create their own or have any option of someone building a custom one for them and feel like wasteing big piles of cash. Also as far as my understanding of this "PC Master Race" of which I make no claim because I don't care that much, you don't get to join their club for modding an alienware.

Insert ridiculous "I have built a 100 computers in 8 1/2 years" nonsense propoganda here.

They're good computers and all, but they are horrifically overpriced! Personally, I quite enjoy building my own rigs. Makes them feel more like my machine.

=]

[sub][sub]Also, it tends to be that the kind of people who buy Alienware desktops, are the kind of people who have more money than sense, and have no idea how to build a PC in the first place.[/sub][/sub]

Honestly, it's not that hard, it's only once you start messing with it, and overclocking stuff when you run the risk of breaking something.

The way I see it, it's just one rather large, expensive jigsaw with 8 or 9 pieces =]

Given the whole PC Gaming vs. Console Gaming and PC Brand nonsense in the majority of this thread, I really didn't bother to read all too much of it and just skimmed, so this may have already been mentioned.

Not only does the article detail that these "facts" are just unresearched slander and spins on sensationalized media, but the servers that were outdated were specifically marked as being SOE servers, and not PSN servers. There's a big difference. PSN servers handle the PS3's game community network and all its accounts, multiplayer, etc. SOE servers handle their MMOs (EverQuest/EverQuest II, PlanetSide, DC Universe Online, etc).
The outdated servers were a handful in the farm that dealt with their MMOs, and have nothing to do with the PSN hardware at all.

People buy them enough to make alienware the top selling gaming grade high end brand in the global PC market.
And if they keep going like they are and keep on getting their exclusive deals with intel and nvidia and keep driving the price of entry on gaming grade prebuilts down. expect to see Origin and Falcon close their doors.
That only works because there are just enough people out there who don't know that you can get equivalent performance or practical processing for much less elsewhere. I won't sound off on how here, but let me just say that Alienware is only useful as a status symbol; they're not practical in terms of cost.

Alienware had its best days when pushing graphical boundaries meant something (ending, ironically with Crysis 1); however, in this age where most of those high production/AAA PC games are nothing more than Xbox 360 ports, HD textures and lighting effects don't look all that much better.
Why? Because most of those games are designed so that they look best on a much lower technical specs.
