This is relatively new, so I doubt anyone has heard of it. But it seems EA is making some kind of fighter themed version of Spore.

Source link:[link]http://www.sporehero.com/[/link]

I don't know, it seems like they're just milking the cash cow that's already bone-dry from just Spore. I watched a few of those videos, and it seems like they're making it a sandbox. You make a creature, "Adapt" it, and go around, terrain to terrain, picking fights. If you've played Spore (You probably didn't, but whatever) you know it's about fighting with other creatures, befriending, eating, and adding on the occasional part. So, this is pretty much just Spore with having babies replaced with adapt and more terrains to pick fights in.

I think it looks okay, but I like exploring games. Gimme a game with a decent Sandbox element and some things to fight and I'm way immersed. Which makes this look okay to me, but I don't have a Wii.

So. Cash cow milking, looks like a decent game, what?

You mean just like they did with Spore?!?
...oh wait.
Exactly. Except this looks like a WoW type sandbox, tons of different places to go and things to see.

But, yeah, this sounds like Spore except with the word "Hero" tacked on.

EA is making "Spore Hero"?

Bobby Kotick will not stand for this.

He will make EA as miserable as he hopes to make his employees with his many lawsuits over this.

Then we'll have to Langdell him and pin him to a fucking cross, because he thinks he trademarked the "Blank Hero" name and thinks he can bully people out of making games that use the naming structure.

Maybe this is for the best.

I remember the only fun I had with the original Spore were the first two phases...

funnily, we also share a name.

I think their milking on all the people who anticipated spore for 3 fucking years only to be disappointed by a game whose essence was completely made out of mini games.

On the other hand it could magically turn out good.

Also I thought it was the Spore Space Hero game at first, now I'm not too sure what to believe. I think it'll suck on account of being a spin off of 2 disappointments. (spore and the wii... actually the wii wasn't really a disappointment for me as I don't have one)
Anyway that's just my opinion.

(edit: thanks for the info btw)

Yeah. I was talking with someone a week or two ago, and they said this game was actually ripped apart and destroyed because it made itself look the second coming of Christ. If they, maybe, didn't hype it so damn much it would have seemed better. It was just a big let down for most people.

But I have fun with it, and the reason I say have is because I still play it, occasionally. That's how I found this interesting little nugget. It is pretty much made out of 5 different games, the biggest one, Space, hyped like nothing compared to everything else. But if you go in expecting a mediocre game, a bad one even, you might be surprised. It's all in the mindset.

Hell, it looks better than Spore, at least.
Doesn't it? I already said I love a good sandbox-sightseer type of a game, where you can see anything and everything that's there if you go far enough. It does seem okay, but the Wii controls probably will fuck that up a bit.

I do hope they release on the computer though.

Yeah I guess you got me there, I still have a craving to play it every once in a while too, the creators are so damn excellent, but like I said, its such a... Nothing, every point of it is just a minigame, the product isn't even a shadow of what was expected and whenever I play it or think about it I'm just so depressed about it (being depressed over a video game is silly, but the game seemed like it was made for me (most people who've read my posts will know of my god complex, =])). To be completely honest the best part for me was just the micro organism stage which lasted all of a minute.

First: You're right. The Creature and Cell stages are all of the greatest parts in the game, but Space is enjoyable.

2: The creators are great, fantastic even, but the number of parts is to few. But that's because they saved up a lot of great ones for the expansion packs, greedy bastards at EA.

3: God complex? You need Heavenly. It's a game that exists in my head, and since I could ramble on about it here forever, I'll just give a
Mine is a game in which you can create planets that will look any way you want, create life for the planets, and put plants and different fruit on them too. Or, you can just create some humans, and I mean Sims 3 editing quality, you can also give them personalities, and the game would have some way to know what the kid would look like from combining the parents.

You can travel through time, watching them build up straw houses and such, then drop a rock on one, burn another, burn humans, throw humans, drown humans, put different tribes into wars, and just tinker with their lives in any creative way you can think of.

For instance, you can possess someone, maybe multiple people, and have them go on killing sprees. As society collapses one, from not have any women to have children, and two, because almost no one is left but a handful of men. If you drive one mad enough with paranoia, he will kill everyone else for being possessed. Make him possessed, and he'll kill himself. Then push some pilgrims in and do it all again.

If you got bored, you could go to a time period and get missions to go to places in the sandbox place and kill something or other. It would have tons of weapons, spells, and things to ride on and it wouldn't have a leveling system. It's just that some monsters are harder to kill without getting certain weapons. And to get certain weapons, you have to kill certain monsters or buy from certain people. You can keep one weapon from any time period to the next.

This would have Fallout-type consequences. Put all your points into one skill, your other skills will have a lack and you will be unlikeable. You don't get points from leveling up, you are given points from doing quests.

Of what I said on a previous thread.

...Sold, just don't sell out to EA, instead of being called Heavenly it'd be called Spore 2 =D

Don't worry, it's going to Rock Steady someone without ties to EA, no Lionhead or
Will Wright.

If you consider Spore and all games like it, mumorpagers, boring, yes.

Oh, and Spore is a mumorpager. You run around, picking up parts, (weapons and armor) killing and befriending monsters, going on scavenger hunts to find different parts in bones, (Fetch quests) this, that, the other thing, Spore has a whole lot of mumorpager elements.

This game actually sound like it has a little potential...
My favorite part of Spore was the cell and creature phases, I quit playing in the RTS phase. I then cheated and jumped ahead to the Space phase, still wasn't impressed.
I watched the old 2005 E3 gameplay footage, and it looked so good, but somehow it was all lost. *cries*
If you want to play the entire history of life, get these games and play them in order, the transition between them is no more jarring than in Spore:
Osmos
Age of Empires
Civilization 2: Test of Time (if you want to play on an alien planet) or Civilization 4 (if you want the game to look pretty)
GalCiv 2 or Sins of a Solar Empire.

I couldn't think of a good game to replace the creature phase... sorry.

WoW isn't a sandbox, its best described as a Themepark.
