It's pretty good in my opinion. Anybody else see the episode, "Song of the Petlars"? It's a really heartwarming take on morality for a kid's show.
I think you meant mortality, not morality.

As for the show, it might have a few issues here and there, but cut it some slack. The show has just started and hasn't really had a chance to hit its groove yet. Besides, even the greatest shows out there hit a few speed bumps in their early years/episodes
Yeah, major typo, I should read my post before I click "post", but then I'd end up deleting the whole thing.

I do find the pacing to be a bit strange, the more episodic episodes go by at their own pace, but the ones that contribute the larger story arc rush through things. Panthro's acceptance of Lion-O as king stands out.

Also, everybody calling out the "pseudo" anime-style. This is animated in Japan by Studio 4"c, so it kinda IS anime...

I wonder if there is a word for people who hate anime-styled artwork? Because that's what I'm seeing here. Xenophobia in animation style. Don't be believe me. Try typing "Anime is" in google and look how many recent searches view it in such a negative way.
I guess then I'm xenocentric. As I seem to incredibly prefer Asian animation and games much of the time. Especially helpful is the aesthetic.

Anyway, I love the new designs. But it irritates me how they didn't go anywhere with the racism. The first two episodes built up something great, and it's like the rest of the show squandered it. Nothing was done with the themes of racism. Classism disappeared. Lion-o and gang go out immediately for revenge instead of regrouping what's left of his nation and even ignoring some kids. The direction of the first episode is forgotten when in the third episode Lion-o acts like Tigra. City of Gold not expounded upon. They learn the "value of life" to charge out into death. An entire episode on Panthro flashbacks, no character development for Wilykit and Wilykat.

It's just, so much waste. I don't hate it, but they need to be doing much, much better.

Jury is still out on this one, for me anyways. It sounds a lot like the hullabaloo Wind Waker got for being cell-shaded. And that was by no means a bad game. ( well the sailing parts did tend to drag on, and i also disliked the way they had you go about treasure hunting for the triforce).

Meaning, that I have only seen a few episodes of the ones that are out already, so i'm waiting to judge it until i see at least the first full season.

but i can say this, its way the fuck better than ponies.

I blame France. The Amazing Spiez, Totally Spiez, and all those shitty shows are what started the Fauxnime style. It is an excuse to use cheap as hell animation, and to appeal to the Pokemon crowd of youngsters.
You do realize that there is more to anime than the ___mon shows right? And that the shows geared more towards children have a slightly different style of artwork than the ones geared towards older crowds?
for example,
Ash from Pokemon (images put in spoiler tags to reduce initial clutter)

Spike from Cowboy Bebop

and Marlene from Blue Gender

Saying that Thunder Cats (2011) is going for the 'Pokemon' crowd because they use anime-style artwork is like saying that Conan the Barbarian (2011) was going for the same target audience as the new Spy Kids movie because they are both in 3D.

Yes, it is a fan-vid but it is an updated intro song. Maybe not the full they wanted but sounds pretty good.

I like it. I find myself laughing a lot more. I feel like I know the voice actor of Panthro from somewhere. I like the two kids, Kit and Kat are their names or something? I like how they act with Lion-O and the group. I find Snarf to be a lot cuter now and I like the fact that he doesn't talk. He's so cute now. I mean seriously: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jNKmxmqVU9M&feature=related

How can you not love that? If you don't crack a smile to that you lack a soul.
The voice actor for Panthro is Kevin Michael Richardson, who has done a lot of voice work. Here is a link to his imdb page-- http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0724656/

Ummm... wasnt the Thundercats a japanese anime to begin with? Anyways, ive seen the first episode, but havant seen any others... Do they show reruns of the show any other time? or does anyone know where on the internet I can watch the full episodes? I actually liked the thundercats way back when, and was happy to see an updated show.

*Edit*

Just looked it up, guess it wasnt japanese...

Watched the first two, seemed alright, nice to get some more fleshed-out backstory. Though while I do think it looks good, I do have a beef with the pseudo-anime art style in that you see it EVERYWHERE in Western action cartoons since Avatar:TLA hit it big. Sure, it's better than trying to replicate their '80s look, but it also would have been nice to see more of an attempt at an original look rather than using the same re-treaded style as Avatar, Teen Titans, the TMNT remake, and so many other shows.

I'd agree with you, except for the fact that it totally worked for Avatar and the fact that Thundercats is animated in japan.

Less fauxnime, more anime.

I wasn't really around when the original was, but I used to watch it so I have a comparison point.

I really like the new one. It's added so much more to the table. It's different mostly due to the fact that the original is played out like a cartoon and this one is more of a fully set-up fantasy. Everything has played out in a certain way to get the setting just right. It's pretty stellar, the animation looks great and the characters are familiar and fun, with just enough changed.

I really don't understand the anime-look hate. The original ThunderCats was based off of the look that most anime had in the 80's, so this version is doing the same thing, only it's for modern anime. If anything, I think it looks perfect.

I remember watching the old show so I'm familar with the franchise. I have seen all the episodes so far and overall I think its ok (not the best nor is it the worse).

Good thing about the show-
Animation quality is top notch. There had been one or two time I felt like I watching more of an anime show (the scene when they encounter those plant people look very anime looking).

I think the overall make over with the new mythos and the character backstory making them more in-depth.

Bad thing about the show-
After the first two episodes episode two and three kind of suck in terms of the plot since it's the typical life lesson episodes (and also the third episode is a Moby Dick rip off). Granted I can understand how it supposes to shape Lion-o to be more of a leader but it seen force. I admit the forth episode (the plant people lifespan within a day) seen to be more of a lesson toward the Emo or those who think being alive sucks.
However after those two episodes it had gone back to the main plot and action.

Typical off screen violence like during the battle (the cats fire the arrows and you only see the lizardmen running away).

Cheetara looks hot and they actually look like cats instead of colored humans. I approve.

I agree with this utterly and completely.
I personally cannot fathom the arguement being made.
Oh, you want an argument explained? Which logic, the personal inner logic or the ethical outer logic?

The ethical outer logic is it's overdone and the social standard for "bigger is better" is unhealthy and needs to go away.

The personal inner logic is that I'm sick of seeing giant boobs on females all the time just because they have a vagina.

Yeah, that bit was really annoying. That and given the lack of bodies apparently the rain of arrows hit absolutely nobody anyway. But more annoying still for me is that they had the same scene less than a minute later...using the exact same footage.

Being a kid of the 80s, this is hard to reconcile. I have seen almost nothing of the new thundercats, but the little I saw I hated. Loved the old designs, still do, I actually have a thundercats themed coffe mug right now.

ps, in the original series why did liono age in his pod faster than kit/kat.
If memmory serves, it was on purpose, since Liono being the heir and future leader had to develop physically for the challenges he had to face.
