Since Microsoft will end XP support in 2014 (you can still use it) what will you do once it stops? Will you finally upgrade to 7 (or 8 if that happens) or stick with XP a little longer?

I made the move to 7 after beta testing it, Win7 is definatly the best Microsoft OS out there in my opinion, i haven't noticed any slowdown and such, in fact i'd reckon my machine is faster with 7 than what it was with xp.

I'd like to imagine that by 2014 those with a PC that originally came with XP would have just gotten a new PC, or at the very least, upgraded by then D:

<_< The only person I know still using XP is my dad, and I don't think he even knows there is[/] support for it.

Kind of miss XP.

Ok, maybe not XP itself, but i'm pretty tired of Windows "Yes, i am sure! Really really sure!" Vista

This.

Vista was too ahead of its time. It didn't run very well at all on the standard rigs of its day. 7 is basically a polished Vista which the rigs of nowadays can actually run properly.

I'll probably dual-boot with Ubuntu after XP support ends. I've still got some software that only works on XP, so I'll keep something around that still runs it.

I like to think that I'll be able to afford Windows 7 by that point. Nevertheless, I'll probably migrate to some Linux distro or another long before then anyway.

lol you can disable that you know, control panel > user accounts > change user account control settings, change it to never notify and you'll never look back!

I dunno. My computer can't run Win7 and I don't have the money to upgrade, at least right now, maybe not even in 3 years.

Move to Windows 7 mini, a stripped version I found one night. Thats if my netbook survives to 2014 which is not likely.

Staying behind the curve in terms of OSs always seems to be the way to go for me. Using older machines anyway, it helps everything run better, but from the looks of everything, Win7 doesn't look like that bad of a thing to jump up to whenever I get a new machine.

My old laptop will never get rid of XP, the only reason that I still have it's to play old games that can be played on vista or 7.

So... when Microsoft ends support for XP, we can continue using XP anyway right? If so then it isn't going to make any difference to me whatsoever.

Got a version of Vista that's obviously broken, as it has never encountered any of the problems that people attribute to it. Runs fine, doesn't slow down my computer or take up an unreasonable amount of disk space, has never crashed or blue screened... the list goes on.

I now only use my pc for casual shit such as this, I work with a linux based OS. Anyone who uses linux as a standard OS, without needing it for specialist work is nothing more than a poser in my book. A cheap poser

I think I'm going to make the jump to Windows 7 mainly because of all my friends glowing reviews and compliments of it

My XP PC will spend it's retirement in my basement next to my other two PC's that have Windows 3.1 and Windows 98 respectively, turned on occasionally just to remember the good old days...

I'll continue exploring endgame content. There's still lots of heroic runs and PvP gear to score.

*Reads thread more carefully*

Oh, that XP.

I've already moved beyond it, but only because my old computer died a few years ago. If it was still around I would happily continue to use XP.

When it stops. No idea. Perhaps rebuild it on Linux and mod it to the specifications to make it run better and more efficiently. Then free source it over the internet so that everyone can enjoy it. Or not.
