Throughout the year I have seen countless GTA:IV was overrated Spore was overrated Cod:WaW was overrated Gears of War sucked posts and threads which fair enough is your opinion, now as the years big realises have all come out (I think dont jump on me for this) Is there any games you have got and said great this is just what I expected or even this is better than I expected?

So basically a rundown of some of the games Edit:eek:r anything else you have enjoyed this year and why?

Personally I loved GTA:IV it mixed up the GTA formula adding realism and I enjoyed the experience it gave me and still do from time to time.

LittleBigPlanet came along and gave me a brake from my gaming routine of murdering something every 5 minutes and reminded me why the Mario franchise made so much.

Edit adding another
DMC4 I went in expecting more of the same sexy combo building gun slinging action and what do I get sexy combo building gun slinging action.

Now its your turn..

Dude seriously if you think everything is so over rated you need to do two things:
1. Get over yourself (stop riding the trendy train)
2. lower your expectations (nothing is ever fucking perfect)

I didn't care for GTA IV, but I did like Gears 2. And I don't care what you guys say- I want to play the new Prince of Persia.

No More Heroes was everything I hoped it would be. Oooo...and the Quest for Glory II remake finally came out and WAS AWESOME. Braid pretty much lived up to my expectations of being an over my head artsy game and...s***, I dunno what to tell you. I still mostly play Halo 3 when I go over to my friend's place with a 6 pack.

I liked Gears of War 2. I expected to like it but I liked more than I thought I would.

I still like Halo more.

Incidentally I'm pleased with the announcement of Halo 3: ODST (formerly known as Halo 3: Recon).

I also have a barrel of Chex Mix close at hand. Very pleasing that.

My thoughts exactly. I was looking forward to it so much I thought it would let me down but it more than lived up to my expectations.

I also liked Mirrors Edge.

EDIT: And Braid, I forgot how much I liked that.

Braid, Castle Crashers and World of Goo were games I knew I'd like but I was still surprised by how much I liked them.

Especially World of Goo. Game of the year. Game of the damn year, do you hear me?

Oh, and Fallout 3 was nice too, though I wasn't expecting much from it.

I don't understand; isn't that what the thread starter was indirectly saying?

Anyway, I'd go with Half-Life 2. I know, I'm under a gaming rock, but its a bundle of cranial-crustacian fun!

GTA IV aimed for realism and therefore flew out of my favourite series list. CoD: WaW lived up to my highest expectations (which weren't that high because of my previous distrust of Treyarch), and Fallout 3 delivered everything I'd ever want in a game.

I'm happy with my line-up of games, but I'm about as happy as last year with Call of Duty 4 and Burnout Paradise.

L4D was a pleasant surprise (by surprise I mean I had no knowledge of the game until about 2 weeks before its release). Also, CoD was pretty fun.

I'm satisfied with this year, and can't wait for next year!

Most of the games I've played have been generally awesome, Fallout 3, Resistance 2, LittleBigPlanet, Mirror's Edge and Dead Space demos, Metal Gear Solid 4, ect.. ect...

Wonder what will happen next year.

Gears 2 was a letdown, sure, and Army of Two's very existence is the cause for poverty in 39 countries, but hey, it's okay. I thought GTA4 was actually okay, Rock Band 2 is awesome, and Guitar Hero World Tour is pretty good. Besides, The Dark Knight was a child of 2008. That makes up for a lot, right?

Red Alert 3 - Plenty of cheesy fun in the solid single player campaign, really well designed diverse and fun units across the three factions, fun and intense multiplayer.

Crysis: Warhead - Intense, spectacular shooty fun in big, tactically interesting areas spiced up with the fun and tactical interest of the nanosuit powers.

I'm waiting a little bit before I get Fallout 3, I want to give it a little time for people to mod around any gameplay annoyances in the game before I play it, but I expect to like that.

No problem I do actually feel like that towards those who seem to hate everything this generation.
