Except for the fact that Christians are supposed to derive much of their spiritual guidance from Jesus Christ who ceaselessly showed tolerance and forgiveness to any and all people, even the Roman soldiers who executed him. If you say you are a follower of Christ and you crusade around spewing hatred, then you have some serious flaws in your internal theology.

I personally never understood some of the religious arguments against gays. The one that confuses me the most is that they're "An abomination of God". Well here's how my brain works, God is supposed to be infallible, and we are created in his image. If gays are an abomination, that means that either a) Homo sexuality is one of many characteristics of god as we are created in his image or b) God is indeed fallible and "made a mistake".

It's 3 am, haven't slept in 24 hours, and I can't think of anything more. I bet someone has a better explanation than me.

On another note, although I live in Canada, I'd like to go up against one of these people and give them a verbal beat down. In person I tend to be really good at "put on the spot" debate.

Kind of. I think you are referring to the mob scene in Sodom and Gomorrah. If you read through that passage closely and use the full context, the issue in there is the uncivil nature of the residents of those cities, not the homosexual activity. To quote a famous civil rights leader - Antonio Dodson, "they be raping everyone."

And yeah, the fact humans were given "free will" exempts God from having to take the blame for humanity's errs.

I don't know, once had a fellow knocking on my door spewing hateful shite about how I'm going to hell. Though the fellow had a large sign, a big bushy beard, few teeth, looked like a bum and smelt of piss so maybe he was just a crazy person. Either way I excepted his Watchtower leaflet thing and closed the door.

The one thing that the WBC fails to realize (and this fact makes me wonder why they have successfully sued at all) is that Freedom of Speech does not apply to anything that incites violence. By that theory, shouldn't most of the stuff that the WBC says not be protected? =P

That's the dangerous line I will not cross. Look at it in a different setting. Last century, there was a person who was hated by millions of people for what he said. His radical theories created wanton death threats upon him. I am extremely grateful for what he did and said, and if the government had censured or banned the speech of Martin Luther King Junior, the world we live in today would be a hollower and sadder place.

Well it's a pagan symbol and Christianity twisted all things pagan even turning a horned god (dont remember the name) into their devil.

Today, 4 freaks from the Westboro Baptist "Church" showed up in my town. There were 4 of them carrying signs with great messages like "Californication" and "God hates California". What made me the most upset was the fact there were two 4 year old boys holding up some signs. Those poor kids are going to be hated their entire lives just because they were brainwashed by their evil parents into thinking God hates everyone. Anyway, I was just walking down the street with my dog when I passed by them. I ignored them, not even giving them a glance when the mom turned and said to me "You are going to hell, young man! You and the entire generation of brute beasts raised from birth with the satanic lie that God loves everyone!".

I ignored them and continued walking, figuring it was the best option against these ignorant shit-brains. The mom yelled at me again, "You can't walk away from your sins! God is going to send you to hell!". I turned around and said to her as politely as I could, "Excuse me ma'am, but you don't even know me. I don't really think going around harassing people is the right way to win souls to God. I advise you not to have your kids out here as well. They probably don't even know what a 'fag' is and you have them out here holding signs that they probably can't even read. I ask you kindly to please not be out here, as you're upsetting many people and not even preaching the correct word of God." She completely ignored my statement and said completely irrelevantly, "God hates all California fags and fag enablers!". I figured that this was the right time to leave.

As I was walking back from the park, a large group of about 20 people were surrounding them, shielding the outside world from their false, perverted message of the Bible. They were completely trapped, and even though some cops were trying to break up the circle the people remained tight. Eventually, the members gave up and ran back to their van. However, some anonymous hero had slashed all of their tires and removed their license plates, as well as cause all of the oil from the van to leak out. One of the Westboro moms screamed at the cops, "Some punk vandalized our car! Do your damn job and find them!". A cop, clearly annoyed by the members quickly asked the crowd, "Does anyone know who did this?". Then they said to the members, "Well, no one has come forth with info. We'll start an official investigation and try to find out who did this." One of the Westboro moms screamed at the cop, "You lazy oath-breaking bastard! You need to do your job, or I'm reporting you to your captain!". Although this scene was too hilarious, I had to get home. According to one of my friends who was there, they ended up later being towed and fined 5,000$ for apparently breaking a window at the police station. Finally, the people in my town have the guts to stand up to these morons.
