1) The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
2) The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
3) The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

Skyrim has captivated me more than every other game this year combined.

I play very few new games anymore cause most of them suck, so I've gotta try hard and remember what actually came out this year that I gave a damn about...

Portal 2
Saints Row the Third
Skyward Sword

Now, despite the fact that I haven't actually played Skyward Sword yet, it is really the only thing I can include because this is pretty much all of the new games I played (or will play) from this year.

Personally, I found Portal 2 highly enjoyable and actually spent a lot of time playing it, even playing through it several times (co-op, too). SR3, though it does feel a bit smaller than SR2, still feels as though it was worth getting and I've spent well over 50 hours on it already and haven't finished the main storyline yet; that's not taking into account a second play through as a female character to make the alternate choices, either.

I'm sure some might wonder why Skyward Sword and not Skyrim, and the reason is that I refuse to play a game like Skyrim on a console. It doesn't look as nice, it is a lot harder to patch, and the mod support will be pretty much nonexistent on a console. However, I do not have a computer that can play Skyrim (or Portal 2 or anything else made this year) yet. Once I do, I plan on getting it toot sweet.

Also, I actually think SS will be pretty decent. I actually enjoyed most of Twilight Princess, and while I thought the DS Zelda games were absolute shit (for different reasons), I typically enjoy the console Zeldas and am looking forwards to getting it in the next couple weeks.

EDIT: Just remembered that while I didn't play some of the other games like Dead Island and Sonic Generations, I DID watch my cousin play them and wasn't very impressed.

Really? Next time troll a little less obviously.
Actually, Timesplitters: Future Perfect was the third in the series, and Borderlands is old but I recently finished it again and, like Timesplitters 3, had a lot more fun playing it than half the dross that came out this year; especially that fucking car crash, Dead Island.

I wasn't trolling, but merely listing my personal games of the year. I'm sorry you feel the need to fly off the handle at myself and other users for any petty reason.

Number 1 is Skyrim, easily.
Number 2 is another easy one for me, Deus Ex: Human Revolution.
Number 3, on the other hand... difficult for me to decide. Skyward Sword? Halo: CEA (Yeah, I'm counting it, Haters Gonna HateTM, etc.)? Dragon Age 2 (see previous comment about Haters Gonna HateTM)? Or will it end up being Portal 2, which I just got yesterday?

Hm...

If it makes you feel any better, I and I'm sure many others knew what you meant :p

1) Skyrim (who'd a thunk it) - for it's epicness.
2) Batman Arkham City - because I really felt like Batman (I love batman).
3) Deus Ex: HR - because it revitalised a series with unexpected success when many had thought it peaked and died with it's initial title.

Runners up are:
1)Portal 2 (great game, but the puzzles felt a little too simple)
2)Dawn of War 2: Retribution (greatest expansion ever made, but only an expansion)
3) Minecraft (hours of fun, but I don't really see it as a game anymore, more a hobby in and of itself)

Notable mentions:
1)The witcher 2... I didn't get around to playing it myself but I have no doubt I will love it when I finally get my Gaming rig up to snuff to play it.
2)Dark Souls... a spiritual successor to Demons Souls? Instant win. But haven't played it myself yet.

'Skyrim' - I know I'll still be playing this in six months time.
'Deus Ex: Human Revolution' - It's good to see the franchise brought back up to speed whilst maintaining the flavour of the original.
'Modern Warfare 3' - Me and my mates will be plugging away at Spec Ops and the multiplayer until the wee small hours for months to come.

Honourable mention goes to 'Orcs Must Die!' - If it had a co-op mode, it'd be in the top three. But it doesn't, so it isn't. So close, Robot Entertainment, so close...

2.Skyrim
3.Deus Ex Human Revolution

In that particular order.I have a few other good ones, but that would ruin the "top 3" wouldn't it.

1) Catherine
2) Dark Souls
3) Portal 2

I was expecting to like Dark Souls more than Catherine, but Ornstein and Smough mean I like Catherine more, shut up.

[sub]Well, to be honest I liked Katherine the most.[/sub]

Can I say Skyrim 3 times?
I was about to do the same, honestly.

1. Skyrim. Absolutely incredible. This is the reason the 10/10 score was invented. For once the hype was actually selling the game short.

2. Witcher 2. A mature, serious RPG that treats you like an adult?! In 2011?! Impossible, but true.

3. Dues Ex: Human Revolution. Simply an amazing game.

In no particular order:

Deus Ex: Human Revolution

Assassin's Creed: Revelations

Batman: Arkham City

Honorable Mention goes to Dragon Age 2

I understand most of the criticism it gets but frankly it fixed most of the problems I had with the first game.
