None of the above, I am a proud and long time PC Master Race member.
Flagged, adds nothing to the conversation.
don't troll the trolls.. if he answers the question posed in the OP, even as the ponciest ponce that ever ponced, he's not really doing anything wrong
nah, it doesn't answer the the question, it answers a question that wasn't asked. And it's flamebait.
If you only PC game, then PC is your console. As much as he might dislike it "console" isn't even really a thing.. It basically means "video game machine" and if he plays "video games" on his PC "machine", it's his "video game machine"

and I wasn't suggesting you sit down and have tea with him, maybe chat about the weather, I was just suggesting that you either ignore it, or report it and ignore it. What does telling him you reported him do but make you look a bit silly, when I can assure you, as of now, he's done nothing to even require a warning in regards to the forum rules - you could consider it flamebait and it might be, but it wasn't offending anyone, unless you're sublimely insecure (not saying you are, really not trying to fight, just saying).

Plus, it led to this conversation. bit offtopic maybe, but who really cares?

So............. yeah.

As a person who went so far as to completely erase the spheregrid and replace it with +4 tiles to boost all characters stats to 255, collecting every ultimate weapon, creating ultimate armors for each of my characters including Break HP Limit.. Defeating the game in the most complete way conceivable.. I have to say.. no.

or, in a less confrontational way because it really wasn't my intention to throw dirt on your favorite game, I'll just curtly and respectfully disagree

And you took the bait.

Actually, so have I now.........aahhh fuck it, it's your fault!

As for the original question, the SNES had me majorly excited. I bought mine used, from a pretty major drug dealer in my town. It was sitting unused, on top of around ten kilos of powder and a pile of money in his wardrobe.

Good times! *stares misty-eyed into the distance*

It came supplied with a load of US games, as well as the converter. Such an awesome machine, with one of the best joypads of all time.

The next time I was that excited, it was when I got my original Playstation, along with V-Rally.

Nowadays, seeing as I'm in my thirties, I have enough luxury spending power that the excitement isn't quite as great any more :/

Meh, rules should apply to all or not at all. his answer contributed nothing, is flamebait, and low content. flagged as it should be.
I'm just saying that you shouldn't hold your breath, sitting there waiting to see "User has been suspended/banned/warned for this post" because it probably won't come.

and saying "Reported." or "Flagged." as you put it is about the most non-contributing, low content, flamebaity thing you could possibly post on the forums. That's why the typical advised strategy for dealing with people who you feel have somehow crossed the line in terms of forum protocol is Report and move on. Don't reply with "I'm reporting you." Because when you do, you're just as guilty of all those things you said there. In this case, I'd say moreso. *shrugs*

I don't want to be "that guy." but I've been here 5 years and you signed up here today... odds are I probably have a slight edge when it comes to interpreting the rules of this forum. I'm not lording over you, but ferreal. He didn't do anything wrong.

The Nintendo 64 blew my mind when it was revealed. Super Mario World, compared to Super Mario 64. Nuff said, really.

After that, the only console that really captured my imagination was the 3DS. Auto-stereoscopic 3D on a handheld, with The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time? I couldn't throw my money at Nintendo fast enough.

Think you've hit upon it there, I scrimped for my SNES so rewarding.
If you're a certain Age, I think the SNES wins this contest hands down.. myself included, personal anecdote about Sega Saturn notwithstanding.

Well sorry , for letting myself get excited for the ps2 and Final fantasy X . Answering the "personal" question OP ask which was :" which console got ME excited". You obviously don't know what an opinion is .

Probably the N64. I've looked forward to the consoles since that have interested me. But the N64 made me giddy in large part to my being so much younger and excitable. My family never got a SNES and though it was a blast to play it countless times at my friends' places, it wasn't the same as owning one. The N64 was the first console I could truly appreciate. I was very young when I played the NES but I only came to appreciate the quality and improvement of gaming with the N64.

Recently, the 3DS.

Got it for the eventual release of Pokemon X and Y, but I now have Fire Emblem: Awakening and Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate to go with it. Not to mention all of the original DS games that I have, as well.

However, the most excited I ever got was when the PS2 was announced. And man, great gaming times were had then.

The OUYA and the Steam Box are still exciting to me. The Wii U doesn't look to bad either.

Usually this might feel too casual for my tastes, but my computer has lately become my hardcore gaming machine, so that shouldn't be a problem. It has the best exclusive genres, such as MMOs, RTSs, and emulators.

I dunno about you, but I fell in love with the SNES the first time I heard it. That system just completly dominated that generation in the quality of game audio.
360's audio's not really as good as the SNES... I mean technically, the fidelity's there, but EVERYTHING can do crystal clear audio these days. There's nothing like a modern version of the Genesis to make you appreciate the sound ;P

Now I'm 38 and I've never owned a console, probably never will, however the Commodore 64 got me very excited when living in the age of Spectrums and Vic 20s.

Shit I just realised I am older than Lucy Jordan...

I believe very first PlayStation. Except, I didn't know about its existence until I got one.
And recently Vita. Mainly because it was (and is) the closest thing I'll ever get resembling full console.

Well, with all this talk of the PS4 and Xbone not meeting out [impossible] expectations, I was wondering what console did appear that literally had you gobsmacked, and maybe even rushing out and buying, launch day?
SNES:
Nintendo Power appropriately hyped me up for Zelda: A link to the past as well as Super Mario world. These games and the graphics and the 'scope' of it all also turned out to all be true.

Sega Genesis:
The Commercials for Sonic were brilliant for the time. It really was different from anything I ever played on a Nintendo, even if the graphics didn't neccisairly look better, it all looked 'fast'.

PS1:
I wasn't impressed by all the images I saw in magazines of the games... that is, until I saw one at Circuit City (R.I.P.) and they had Jumping Flash playable on a demo console long before it's release. I fell in LOVE!

N64:
Like above but replace Circuit City with Wal-Mart, and Jumping Flash with Mario 64. Playing Mairo 64 for 20 mins was enough to completely enchant me.

Sega Saturn:
In another Wal-Mart, I saw Knights up to play on a demo console and nearly beat the game. I also watched a video of Panzer Dragoon 2 and that looked AMAZING! (it still does lol)

That's about where it ended... Wasn't excited for the Dreamcast/PS2/Xbox. Why would I be? I had a Dreamcast before anyone. I imported one from Japan over a year before the US got it haha. However, a LOT of people oogled my Dream cast for the longest time. When the PS2 came out, it didn't look particularly impressive to me, especially since the stages of Sonic Adventure looked much better. The PS2 did turn out to be the better console, obviously (I have so many games for it), but it still wasn't visually impressive to me.

PS3:
Ok, the PS3 did impress me. But honestly we didn't get anything we were promised. The PS3 didn't sell well for a while for a reason, after all. Where the hell is our FF7 remake they kept demoing? People were more amazed by the possibility of the PS3 rather then what it actually was.

Probably the closest I've been to excited about a console was when Nintendo announced they were working on the Wii, while it was still code named: Revolution.

I got the console about 3 months or so after Christmas the year it came out, and was wholly underwhelmed. The motion controls were cool at first, but after the novelty wore off I began thinking "This would play so much better with a normal controller" for 99% of the games I played.

Though it did teach me not to give into hype and to have a bit of skepticism when it comes to said hype, so... good for that I guess.
