2015... uhmm...

Oh, Dying Light was this year.

I suspect Arkham Knight will take it away from there though. No Man's Sky seems like the most likely other contender if it isn't delayed.

Probably going to be Arkham Knight. Unless Rocksteady somehow fucks that up royally. Which is possible in this industry... as possible as Ant-Man being utter shit. Was I being sarcastic? I don't honestly know.

So far, Bloodborne.

I also plan on getting Persona 5 when it comes out and Witcher 3, but only when it goes on sale, as I quit Witcher 1 and Witcher 2 is doing little to impress so far. Xenoblade Chronicles X looks really fun so far, and so do FF XV, but I don't think they are coming out this year. And if they are, they will most likely be big contenders for my GOTY.

So far it's Life is Strange.

I've fallen in love with this little title, and the quirky atmosphere it has. I thought episode 1 was pretty neat, had some fun bits of nostalgia for me with some of the characters. Episode 2 blew me away, and most of the people who did Let's Plays of it too. Episode 3 has some fun elements that are building in it.

Some might not call it a "game" and maybe more just an interactive Choose Your Own Adventure story, but I still love it. The amount of emotional investment I had for the events of the game (Especially episode 2), really surprised me. And I found myself fascinated with watching other people's Let's Plays of it. I think I watched probably 2-3 dozen different people play it, to see how they reacted to episode 2, and it was amazing to see that much genuine emotion and concern emerge as the events unfolded. It's one of my random purchases, and I'm quite happy I took the chance on the game.

QP Shooting Dangerous. I play as a little dog girl who goes around beating people up because the entire world apparently forgot about pudding. And at the end, I fight one of the six gods of sweets to protect pudding and the happiness it brings people.

Other than that, I don't know. I haven't played much games that came out this year. Could the two Touhou games that release this year count?

So far?

Ori and the Blind Forest.

I probably won't be able to play The Witcher 3, Metal Gear Solid V, or Batman: Arkham Knight because I have an aging PC and no PS4 or Xbox One. Yay.

Otherwise, I do have games like Invisible, Inc. or Pillars of Eternity that I need to put more time into, Shadowrun: Hong Kong, Torment: Tides of Numenera, Xenoblade Chronicles X, and Persona 5 are coming later in the year, and I'm hoping for some Early Access games to reach a final release sometime soon (Satellite Reign, Nekro, Grim Dawn, and Darkest Dungeon primarily; Armello looks really interesting as well).

The only game I've even played from this year is "Lemma".

And if that turns out to be my GOTY, then we had a baaaaaaaaaaaaad year.

Bloodborne.

Unless Persona 5 cleans up shop. And, if it fixes my minor complaints for P4, it may.

...

This is actually a really good year for video games.

Guilty gear XRD. Technically it came our in december 2014 ( outside japanese arcades), but it was too late to be a contender. Being a fighting game i wouldn't expect it to win any awards because the new blood gamers have the attention spans of goldfish, but it's easily one of the best, and most balanced, fighting game to come out in the last decade.

Bloodborne is a close second.

It was Bloodborne, but surprisingly I'm really enjoying Omega Quintett. JRPG meets iDOLM@STER, I'm pretty happy with it.

... What? It just feels like a 'fun' game.

Also I don't even have a PS3, why must all the good games decide to abandon the Xbox 360 now? Did someone at Sony slip them a few more zeros on their next payment to drop multi platform support? I mean I wasn't expecting a Persona 5 PC port sure but after Dark Souls and Dark Souls 2 having PC ports, Bloodborne just lolnopes it completely.
I can't speak for bloodborne, since it's a game made with the western market in mind, but as for Persona 5, it's because the japanese market doesn't care about the Xbox. Never really did.

JRPGs and Jdev games were big movers in the PS2 era, so when the 360 launched, microsoft put some effort in courting them, even buying exclusivity for a "Tales of" game, which are hotcake sellers in Japan. As the 7th gen moved on, japanese developed games fell strongly out of favor in the west, and it wasn't worth the effort anymore, so here we are. XD

Too early to comment for me, as far as GOTY goes, since I strongly expect P5 to take mine, given SMT's track record.

I think so far StarDrive 2. But that's not saying much since most of the games I've played aren't from this year. Basically just StarDrive 2 and Dying Light. Both good, though.

Doesn't matter what we think I'm sure The Escapist will find a valid excuse to give BioWare a Game of The Year Award even in a year where BioWare releases no games.

Cause thats just how The Escapist rolls.

My call is The Witcher 3....its a solidly polished masterpiece at every level.

So.. Witcher 3 is that good? Well, I guess I'm in for a treat once I finish Witcher 2.

]Bloodborne. I'm hard press to think of anything else coming out this year that would beat that for me. I never played any of the other MGS games other than Rising, so MGS V seems out of my reach.

As for Witcher 3, I never played the first game, and I played the second game when it was free and it didn't pull me in.
Its not that quite out of reach.. Just playing MGS3 should be enough to catch you up (theoretically).

Pillars of Eternity, easily the most fun I've had with a video game in years.

Bloodborne (and Demon's Souls) were published by Sony, that's why they're Sony exclusives.

For me its Witcher 3, but I don't have a console newer than the original xbox so I don't have a wide range of platforms to consider.

Still waiting for Arkham Knight, MGS5, maybe even (unlikely as it seems) Battlefront.

I expect it to be either Witcher 3, Pillars of Eternity or Splatoon.
