Urban jungle. Yup, a city somewhere. A big, populated, modern city. Somewhere we haven't explored in a big game yet. Europe or the middle east would be interesting, but probably America because its a Far Cry game and you have to be able to get guns easily.
Why a city? Mostly to see complaints online. "Far Cry is supposed to be in the exotic jungle somewhere foreign... hashtag not my far cry (more fanboy whining and crying)." Just because those tears are the most delicious.
But really mostly, because you easily could make a pretty good statement about modern life by showing (or in a very typical Far Cry way exaggerating) how "alien" the places most people don't usually go in a city can be. It would have to be exaggerated to a ridiculous level, as would the number of crack dens, empty warehouse districts, loading docks, and organized crime mcmansions that would serve as the "strongholds." But the normal residential, entertainment, and well regulated and populated industrial areas would exist in the way that jungle and forest is used in other Far Cry games... ie something to hide in and camouflage yourself in while investigating or scouting.
Yes, Watch Dogs does a fairly good job of this... but WD is a stealth-focused franchise. You do that, but in the terms of a gory shooter and you have something that really could be a worthy Far Cry sequel. That same "fish out of water becomes acclimatized by his surroundings" story could work just as good within this framework. Plus the fanboy tears screaming about something "killing the franchise." Win-win.
