So what should we do with the Mass Effect universe after Mass Effect 3?

Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game!

The only thing I don't like about Mass Effect is that you always have to play as a bland human. An MMO where you actually get to create your own character would be an amazing idea. They could keep the same gameplay and everything just by putting a cap on the maximum squad to 3 people per mission instance. And you'd be able to get AI controlled NPC characters to fill in any missing slots in your squad.

The one downside being the sheer amount of voice acting that would be required to give your character a personality beyond some telepathic mute that communicates through incredibly annoying vocal quips whenever they take damage or engage an enemy. That's right Dragon Age: Origins, I'm calling you out!

Well hopefully more ME books. Oh and a movie would be pretty epic.

Oh and some games, I wouldn't mind some more ME games.

No multiplayer. Period. I don't want ME turning into a cash cow. That said, the tale of another spectre or a mercenary has potential to be interesting.

sorry had to do it

OP: Anyway i believe i have read they are making a movie about it and that the producers of the game had originally thought the ME universe to be a trilogy but after seeing the success they are going to make it into a franchise. So I am pretty sure the ME universe is nowhere from being finished.

Do the sensible thing and end it there. Seriously, while the writing is good, and the characters and their respective stories are great, the main plotline had turned into a tangled mess since ME2. Anymore games and it'll just get too crazy.

More then likely they will make a mmo before a multiplayer game like Call of Duty for this series.

I would love to play a Mass Effect MMO. I been needing a good mmo to replace wow with since I quit a year ago

MMO its a terrible idea for any games because 1) I wouldn't buy it if it was an MMO 2) If I did I wouldn't pay for the rest of my life 3) Games should never feel like a second job.

I'd like to see a game with a plot that was less 'epic movie trilogy' and more 'space adventure television show'.

I think the only option is obvious.

Mario-ify it and milk every last dollar.

Bass Effect (fishing simulator)
Shepard Kart
Mass Tennis

I can see it now... RTS, side scrolling platformer, text adventure, dating sim, rhythm game, cooking games...

It's beautiful.

My hope, not every single Reaper dies in the end. A dozen or so run away, hide and pop out periodically to destroy a planet or something.
They could easily make an RTS. Give Salarians abilites to gain intel, give Asari hero units and Biotic magic attacks, give Turrians big tanks, etc.
Another idea would be to make a 4 person Co-op game set during the Rachni war. You choose your race, your gear and class (based on your race), grab 3 buddies and kill bugs while leveling up. Would fit easily with ME2 style cover and quick magic system.

The same thing as Star Wars and DnD, and continue it with other plots and different characters.
Could make smaller scale games. Not every threat needs to be to the whole universe.

Let it die with dignity. I want everything to be wrapped up in a nice little box with a bow on top.

What I hope Bioware won't do:

- MMO : Quick and easy cash, one can focus on one single development at a time and rake in vast amounts of money from monthly subscriptions. This tends to delay other, more interesting single-player projects because they'll just sell one licence per player and be potentially pirated to death. I would understand that after building a successful franchise this could be the logical path to follow (for the measly cost of +50 renegade for greed). Bioware is no Valve, so I think there's a good chance they'll do it. Or at least they'll be pressured to death by EA.

- Prequels : I like flashbacks as much as any other sane person, but playing an entire game where I actually know what will happen in the future regardless of my actions? Nah. Additionally, Mass Effect has been about importing the past so the future could be written.

What I hope Bioware will do:

- Continue the storyline : With another protagonist perhaps? The Reapers may be defeated (or at least pushed back into dark space) by the end of ME3, but we still know very little about their origins. Is the Milky Way the only galaxy they cull for reproductive purposes? Are they the omnipotent gods that they claim to be, or is there something else, something beyond our comprehension hiding behind their existence? We can go on and on, but the Universe is vast, and the possibilities for building epic stories are nearly infinite.

- ME Origins : It would be nice, but we would most likely sacrifice the strong protagonist and the cinematic aspect of Mass Effect. Simply look at the obvious differences between DA1 and DA2 (in terms of main character, of course). Despite the anger hurled by many at DA2, I grew fond of Hawke fairly quickly, while in DA1 the attachment to my custom made character was lesser. So yes, it would be cool, but it would be a completely different sort of RPG.

There. I hope this wasn't TLDR.
