Does Broken Steel count? It may have been DLC, but it fixed every problem in Fallout 3 (by which I mean the ending and far-too-low level cap) and made it a much better game.

If I can't choose DLC, then I'd have to say Left 4 Dead 2.

L4D2, but I don't have enough cash to try out every game that comes out, so it's just my personal choice as it's my favourite of the games I did buy.

It's hard to pick any one game. Uncharted 2 or Dragon Age Origins. Modern Warfare 2 would have taken the title if it wasn't for, well...... if you've played it, you know about the um, plot "event" that occurs during the last three or so missions, which I felt ruined the single player storyline entirely for me. Multiplayer is still stellar, don't get me wrong on that, it's still a very good game, but the single player storyline desperately needed to have been at least two hours longer and 50% less STUPID.

RPG: Dragon Age: Origins, all the way. There's no denying how incredibly awesome this game is.

Action: Batman: AA, for obvious reasons.

First Person Shooter: Borderlands. It gave you the ability to customize your character and each co-op session was a blast.

RTS: Empire: Total War. It's the only decent RTS game to be released this year...

Platformer: Trine is the only one to be released this year that I'm aware of and I know I had a blast playing it.

Simulation: The Sims 3, for extremely obvious reasons.

Third person shooter: Uncharted 2.

This list is based on my opinion. I don't claim that these are the best games of 2009, they're simply the games I consider to be the best of their respective genres based on the experience I had playing them.

Now if I'd have to choose one game out of this entire list, it would have to be Dragon Age Origins.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2

I have Borderlands too but something in me makes me like MW2 more.

Afrika. I like National Graphic and Animal Planet. This game will be the closest I will ever get to a photo safari in the African Veldt.

I´m split between Muramasa: The Demon Blade and MadWorld. Though Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 was pretty good too.
