I didn't see mention of it, but if you play Oblivion again, grab the Partner Companions mod and have whoever you want following you around.

As for 'ideal' partner, as in 'never going to F'ing happen but would be amazing?' Annah from Planescape. The first character in a game I had an affinity for and would go gay for. Sexy little Tiefling? Hell yes. If only I had any skill at modelling objects.

A little child who sees himself as my squire, so he carries my shit, repairs my shit (just a couple of percent a day or something, he doesn't have to be an expert ) and as he's my squire he's learning the skills I am, so if I'm stealthy he'll be equally as stealthy, if I'm not he's not. He would primarily mean he's a big backpack that's as stealthy as me

This but female. She wouldn't partake in combat, so she would be unkillable, because seriously by far the most annoying parts of the rare times I took companions into battle on Fallout 3 and NV was that they kept on dying and I have no wish to spend half my game time micromanaging their stimpaks for them.

I would like a Khajiit ranged attacker of some sort. I think a wise and intelligent Khajiit mage or archer would go very well with my main character RP.

My own pet/friend dragon. Doesn't have to be a big one maybe just be young one that can't fly properly or something which is the reason why it follows you.

Also a Daedra could be pretty awesome. One that could talk about it's life in Oblivion and why it's not evil anymore or because your character is more evil. Either an Atronach, one of the darth maul people or heck, I'd love to have one of the giant crocs following me.

A dragon would be the coolest and should be available to those people who don't want to do much fighting but just explore a fantasy world.
It would be fun watching him squeeze through tight dungeons.

Considering I have a flying Dragon mount in Morrowind, that was horribly animated, it should be easy to mod one into Skyrimm. Most of the work is done for you already since the dragons are already in there.

Fast and dirty version is you make a unique horse and give it the dragon textures/meshes and scale it down to horse, harder make a unique dragon and write in mount behaviors (use the getting on horse animations, and make animations for the dragon getting down), neither option is especially difficult.

Now that I'm thinking about it Morrowind had a lot more companion options, including a pet pack rat and a merc that could be paid in gear or gold, not to mention the permanent summon glitch that could give you anything you could summon from clanfear to golden saint, until they died (and you could even loot their bodies, good times).

For my two cents I'd like a companion that can pass a stealth check, or will rush in if I'm detected, minimum I want one that will run away before they die, or will drink a damn potion sitting in their inventory. I could probably write these behaviors myself but I'm a lazy, I'll probably only make a dragon mount if one isn't on the nexus after a week.

Tossing fireball magic and healing spells and nothing else. I like being the lone wolf warrior going against the odds in the elder scroll games and fallout 3 and i wouldn't ave it any other way.h
