So, what's the best way to practice without anyone seeing?

I recently bought some rollerblades. It's my first pair, so how do I practice without anyone seeing me? I mean, we all know how it is learning something like that. My only plan is to practice before 5 AM. Luckily I'm an insomniac so this works out perfectly! But even then one guy saw me, so is there any better way?

Go back and forth in the largest hallway in you house. There probably won't be much space and it will take a while but no one will see you, unless you have windows in your hallway.

Well, this is probably the only chance I'll ever get to link to that clip from Malcolm in the Middle where Hal rollerblades to "We Are The Champions" by Queen, and I can't find the damn thing!

Ah well, the point is, a school seems like a good place, as not many people will be going there particularly early.

FOUND IT!!!

EDIT: For some reason, when I put an apostrophe in "doesnt" in the above message, this comes up: #token:0#. Does anyone know what this could be a result of? Not really a big deal, but kind of odd.

I had the same problem when learning my first Sith abilities, then I Force lightninged the first guy that made fun of me and it didn't happen again... maybe if you actually mounted blades on your roller blades and just drop kicked people O_O

I think the OP's question implies a misunderstanding. Finding a time or a place where one's practice cannot be observed is irrelevant as even those skilled at the art of "rollerblading" command no real respect. Perhaps fifteen or more years ago things may have been different, but at the time I was an idiot child and as such my perception may simply be skewed in the matter. My advice therefore is to practice in broad daylight in front of as many people as possible - you may as well learn to deal with the inevitable ridicule you'll receive when your participation in such a hobby is made public.

Try it anywhere on your property, assuming you don't have people staying there to be embarrassed in front of. Also, move any breakable stuff away. I once broke a vase skateboarding in my living room.

I don't mind doing weird stuff in public when I'm with a friend, but alone, I feel weird.

I was going to try bench jumping at a park, and there was a guy about my age (17) playing on the playground equipment. I walked past and he was sitting on the swing, so it felt kind of awkward if I were to just run up and try to jump over the nearby bench, haha.

I wouldn't judge anyone else if they did some stuff I'd be shy to do in public, in fact I would probably think they were interesting and cool. I wonder if other people would view me the same way, and most people a trapped because of this false concept of a cultural norm that others are judgmental, and if the people who take "social norms" too seriously are actually rare, and are deluded, uptight, and their opinions mostly don't matter.

When I first started skateboarding, I did it in my garage. It was a pretty good place, because the surface was great and no one could see me. If you don't have a garage, then maybe during the day while everyone's at work/school would be a good time. Unfortunately there'll still be a few people around.

You don't need a lot of space though, so just practice in an enclosed area until you can move around without falling over, and then start practicing in public. If you don't fall as much then it'll be less embarrassing. I still remember the first time I tried parkour in public.
