Burnley literally got smashed up by Burnley supporters themselves when they lost a home game.

Liverpool supporter myself so occasionally I like to beat up a Man U fan ...... i'm only joking dear Man U fans I live up north i'm not travelling all the way to London to find you (I jest you not, barely any Man U fans in Manchester itself, they mainly support City).

It's funny you say that, because we had a tournament today which I literally JUST got back from and our last two games ended VERY badly.

First game, the other teams goalie said that our goalie "PUNCHED ME IN THE BALLS" and the coaches went at it big time.

Second game, different team, these two guys who were at each others throats all year got in a fight when one grabbed him by the shirt and shoved him, ripping his jersey. so our guy punched him in the face a few times before the other teams goalie came in, to which our guy punched him in the head enough times to break his hand.

Also, earlier this year, our goalie went for a kid and punched him in the face a few times for chirping him.

Yeah, lot of hate in our league :/.

You haven't seen hockey fans, have you?
Soccer is way more assessable then Hockey. You only heard of the riots in North America, many Canada. Soccer Riots happen in Europe, Mexico, South America, Russia

You must have been delighted with the way the community shield turned out this time then.

It's not as violent as people in this thread are making it out to be. I have been going to my teams home games for 5 years now, almost every single game. As far as I can remember there has been not one fight. One or two confrontations, but no fights.

Sure fans always sing the sort of aggressive songs you see at almost every sporting event, but come on, I am willing to bet 9/10ths of the people who are complaining about football in this thread have never been to a football game, or at least haven't been to many. Just heard a news story on TV, and then gone "yep, that's how all football fans and players are like".

Oh but when games are accused of making games of making people violent, that is 100% wrong now isn't it.

Hurr hurr! (And let's not forget Man U is not in Manchester.) So, what about Everton fans, enjoy a good fisticuff with them at all?!

Actually meant to write: and laugh hardest of all when Chelsea get beaten (Fulham fan). And yeah, after going 2-0 up and losing, the... losers!

You haven't seen Poland have you? Them guys are psychos!

You can watch the rest of them on youtube, I am obviously not going to post all five vids on them.

It's just something to cling to. They start of liking the football, then hear somebody verbally "attacking" there team, so they become defensive about it and closer to fellow supporters, then a gang mentality takes over, a lot of dick waving and thus fighting.

I guess it's just nice to be a part of something and knowing they will have your back 'cos of it.

Still crazy if you ask me.

Ever been to an American Football game? I almost did. I left when people started threatening to shoot each other if one didn't support the other's team.

the "hoolgian mentality" there is different from the usual stuff thats happening in lets say UK, Netherlands, Germany and Italy... It's not about giving each other a nice friendly beatdown, alot of those are just criminal thugs, bringing knives, firearms and the like to a brawl...

you can watch similar trends in other former eastern bloc and as well in some middle-eastern and north african countries

Actually there is a unwritten rule that all but one "gang" that you don't use weapons in a fight, all of them in that vid say it. Just the one gang brings weapons to it, I assume they have shit fighters in it so they need to make up for it.

The fighting between fans of football teams is the same as the fighting between PS3 and Xbox fanboys, the difference is of course where it takes place. It's I think because as fans you have a very deep attachment to the team you support like fanboys have a very deep attachment to the consoles they have. I for example am an Arsenal fan, if my team lose the feeling is so bad that I've literally felt physically sick sometimes and throughout this summer I've only felt angry or sad because of reading news about Arsenal transfer dealings.
P.S. ARSENE GET NEW PLAYERS OR FUCK OFF

Aww man! I was thinking this would be a flamewar inducing thread about the name "Football" and which sport deserves to be called that. I am disappointed for some reason.

OT: My brother is a devout Arsenal fan. Last time we went to the UK, we took a tour inside ....what is it? Emirates Stadium, I think? the Arsenal one?
My brother was like.....it was a like a fucking spiritual experience for him. A fucking pilgrimage. It was like his Mecca and Jerusalem rolled into one.

I just lol'd, made sure he didn't bump into anything in his trance-like state and tried not to ask stupid questions like "who's Arsene Wenger" in front of all the Arsenal fans.

That said, England's player quality doesn't actually lag behind other countries as far as it seems. We're awful in tournaments for a lot of reasons, but not necessarily that our players aren't individually competitive. The issue is more a question of organisation, fitness, media pressure and all the other stuff people whine about.
Hell when England played as a team in the last World Cup they weren't half bad. I'm not claiming to be an expert authrority on football or anything, but it seems that when they got in an early goal they got cocky and when the opposition gets in an early goal morale drops astoundingly.
