So, whats the most disappointing game launch you've ever participated in?

So, I pre-ordered BF3 and needless to say, it was fairly disappointing. Don't get me wrong, I love the game and I'll probably play it a whole bunch more but it didn't exactly launch well. Lag, glitches and a dumb green flicker ruined the hype I waited through at first, but it seems they have fixed a number of those issues. So, I ask you, what game launch made you most upset?

Uncharted 3 had a pretty uninspired launch today. First off, launching in the middle of the week (here in the UK) makes very little sense, other than the fact it didn't seem to want to be too close to either BF3 or MW3, and having played it for a few hours, I have to say it does feel a little bit rushed.

Half-Life 2. Anyone who wasn't around for the launch of HL2 A.) doesn't know what hype is and B.) has probably never seen a AAA launch that was that gimped. The game itself was fantastic, but the world wasn't ready for Steam and Steam wasn't ready for the world. I was so pissed at my inability to play the game that I gave it to my friend and swore off Steam for like 3 years.

The Dragon Age 2 launch. So far the only game I bought at launch. Nowhere near the expectations I hoped for, but it hurts because you can see how much potential it has, but has been squandered.

I still remember that day too thinking to myself "Gee this steam system is stupid, a scam, etc."
So I begrudgingly installed it that day, and we haven't been apart ever since.

And as for the question Fable 2 was over hyped to hell, and was fun but overall a letdown. Plus coop was unavailable day 1 and when it was released we realized it was crap.

Borderlands.

Online play was impossible, ports no one knew needed to be forwarded, connections were awful all the time anyway.

Co-Op shooter, feh. Explains why I stayed in single-player. That's when I decided to never ever pre-order again.

Need I remind anyone of the Black Ops 360 Launch?
Servers were nigh unplayable for weeks. It was a horrifying start to what was then the "Most pre-ordered console game in history"

Fallout: New Vegas. I expected glitchy, but gorram downright unplayable was something I didn't expect. I might as well have waited a while and got it a wee bit cheaper.

Well heroes of might and magic 4, needless to say the marketing of the game alone made the company go bankrupt. As in it was nonexistant before the studio just went bankrupt.

Hellgate: London. The game concept was good but the massive memory leak issue it had aswell as high monthly costs for multiplayer also saw that fail. Also alot of broken abilities on a few classes that didn't get fixed, But the game was pretty sweet.

Oh actually gonna go get the new free? relaunch version of hellgate. One of the few people who actually thought its was good.

I hear ya. The PS3 version made me it's ***** for the few days I played it.

I would have to say Mafia II. It's still a good game with a great story, but this is suppose to be an open world game with many things to do, not just a couple of Diners and Clothing stores to keep the player happy.

You would expect a game that big to have many things to do, but it was just another 10 hour cover shooter with some playboy magazines thrown in for good measure.

HALO 2. That game is the reason I no long pre-order games and also why I stopped listening to reviewers.

I agree Half Life 2 was over hyped and not that great. Just finally managed to beat the original campaign.

Long time forum creeper first time posting, be kind :)

I'm not sure I see any potential at all, but I'm with you on this one. I still kick myself over the fifty bucks I flushed down the toilet to pick that turd up, hoping for it to be as big an improvement over DA1 as Mass Effect 2 was over ME1.

Another set of launches I wish I hadn't done are Kingdom Hearts 2 and Birth by Sleep. Awful, awful, awful games, both of them; definitely what I'd call wastes.

The Battlefield 3 launch, I waited for 4hrs and 15mins for the fuckin' game (opening night and it was freezing) only to be let down with bugs coming out the ass, bad co-op, terrible graphics (only if you didn't download the texture pack), a bullshit story, and generic multi-player; it's no wonder I traded the game in after 2 days.

GTA4, because it red-ringed my 360 midway through the opening cutscene...

Other than that, I don't have any horror stories. Then again, I almost never buy on day 1.

Demigod. By far.

A gorgeous multiplayer-only DotA clone who's multiplayer component didn't work. For a month.

I'm with you there. That's one of the reasons I won't be pre-ordering any games in the near future. Except maybe Mass Effect 3

EDIT: Oh, Yeah. Dragon Age 2 and Fable 3. Not bad games, at least to me. Just... disappointing

Halo ODST and Halo 3. Halo ODST was a good game , but I was done with it quick and then I lost it. Halo 3 was just horrible, I regret buying it

Fable 2. Fable 1 was a good rpg, just not anything what Peter Molyneux had said. Fable 2 was really boring. Just boring.
