I just.... really like Sailor Jupiter. I always identified with her a lot, because she likes making cakes and kicking ass.

My old avatar was still but then I found this one which was animated. To be honest my ideal avatar would be the Supreme Thunder animation but I was never able to find something like that.

Mine is an album cover of a very rare live show from the band Yes, which is similar to the Going For The One album cover but 10 times better and I wish they used this instead.

It was also made at the time when they were in their best form, releasing their last masterpiece, 'Awaken'. I reckon missing out on that is like never seeing 2001: A Space Odyssey, so I was hoping it would have people take interest, but no.

I'm going to change it to another special artist sooner or later.

It's Jessica Chobot being suggestive with a guitar, which I made. The avatar, I mean, I didn't make the guitar... The story behind it: because why the hell not. I meant it to be temporary, but I've gotten used to it now.
I never actually looked really hard at your avatar pic, I always assumed it was a heavy metal bloke from your favourite band. Shows how much attention I pay.

My username is Catfood220, so a bag of cat food made sense. It was pretty much the first image I looked up on the internet and have had it for a few years now. I would change it but I can't be arsed now.

I used to be a really really angry dude, and way back when 'meme faces' were still a thing. So I thought, y'know; it fits, let's use it.

And even though meme faces are horrible these days and I'm way more chill I ain't gonna change it. I've been here long enough that I hope it's at least a little recognizable, and why mess with that.

This is Alec Guinness portraying veteran spymaster George Smiley from the 1979 miniseries of Tinker Soldier Spy and the 1982 miniseries of Smiley's People. He is a quiet and retiring, but also highly intelligent and cunning, character who can take down the most intractable of foes by talking to some people.

So you know what everyone looks like to me right now. XD
If you don't... Well...
Have I got a button for you! *ahem*

My present avatar is 'KuraIthys' which is simultaneously a fictional persona I use in various places (notably youtube), and also, very loosely based on myself.
(as in, aspects of the body and face shape - as well as some other elements. come from using myself as a reference.)

So, in short, it's an original character. (but not an 'OC' since that implies being part of a pre-existing fictional universe.).

And yes, it is a catgirl.

I use an older, rougher version of the drawing on purpose.
Compared to my youtube channel which uses a vector image reconstruction of it.
Much cleaner, but a little lifeless by comparison somehow.

Though at the size of a typical avatar, those kind of subtleties tend to just get a little lost really.

My first Avatar on here was my main character from the online game Guild Wars but I eventually changed it for ponies related gif image when I became a brony (especially when the first image was quite dull).

It's a Pikachu with the Mega Milk Titty Monster face, what else is there to say?
That face fits on anything, and on pikachu it creates a nice dichotomy. It's just a nice contrast.

I, sir, am offended... I can't stand metal![footnote]Well, barring some classic Metallica up to and including the Black album, Megadeth, and Sepultura's Chaos A.D. from the late '80's and early/mid '90's.[/footnote]

Crappy low res aside [and the Escapist's annoyingly tiny avatar sizes for non-VIP peasants], I think Chobot would be flattered, though.

My avatar is a result of playing around with the paint program that came with my computer, with my initials somewhat stylized, shrunken down. Not the most exciting of tales, but it works for me.

Cartoon avatar of myself. Made by an ex friend (I accidentally screwed her brother's girlfriend while they were still dating, whoops).

I used to write cartoons about living in residence with my roommate and she would draw them. Did it for about a year back in 2007 or 2008. Published them in the uni news paper because they would accept virtually anything since no one actually read the paper or cared. Working with her was a pain because she was talented by sloppy, overly sensitive to criticism and a bit flaky. Defo wouldn't do it again.

They actually ended up published across Canada in school papers because every article and photo gets submitted to an AP-like database for uni newspapers that they paid to be a part of. Good for when they needed filler to complete an issue. So that was kind of cool.

In any case, I actually look much cooler now.

I've kept mine for the last seven years. It depicts "Dude", the protagonist from the game Full Pipe. The game itself is an obscure point and click adventure by a zany Russian cartoonist called Ivan Maximov. It used to be one of the first games available on Steam, but tends to disappear off and on the market.

I picked it coz I like the game, and because I like the way Dude appears to be looking perplexed by the above post.

What, this button?

I thought it was to call room service. I just never really needed anything. Hmm, I am actually a bit thirsty now. I'll give it a go.

OT: It's artwork from Mage the Awakening 20th Anniversary Edition.

My previous (long used) avatar was again from Mage

and the one I used before that, was this one

which came from

If you're wondering what the difference is, the first one has transparency, the other one doesn't - I wanted to remove the black background, so I did, putting transparency instead. Then I realised, I could also remove the white from the picture and replace that, as it would be really hard to notice with the Escapist colour scheme. And that was really thematic, as the NWO operatives should be able to blend in and not stand out. I liked it and I kept it for a long time.

I like the World of Darkness, I really like a lot of the artwork, especially artwork by Leif Jones. I went with a Mage avatar since...well, 1. I love Mage, probably my favourite game line of all (in all its incarnations) 2. I'd have a Mage avatar. It's funny because in Mage the Ascension, all mages have Avatars, which are what gives them the ability to do magick. Of the many factions in Mage, I do like the Technocracy, a lot, as well, where there is another thing 3. the Technocracy are also mages, but they don't believe they are doing magick - they still have an Avatar, though, but they consider it to be advanced Science, not something abnormal.

So, I had an Mage avatar that blends into the background that depicts somebody who doesn't believe an Avatar is anything special. It's actually punny and accurate depiction on more than one level.

My new avatar comes from

which is the Technocracy, again. I changed to this one when M20 came out, to sort of celebrate it. Initially, I thought I'd change back to my previous avatar[footnote]When the revised edition of Convention Book: New World Order came out, I changed my avatar for about a month also to sort of celebrate it - I used

[/footnote] but I grew to like this, so I'm keeping it.

I've said this quite a bit on here.
Yet, I do not tire of it.

My avatar is the male protagonist called Tomoya Okazaki, of the anime show Clannad/Clannad After Story.
The reason for the lightning in the gif, is because he is also an Archangel of Lighting in the Escapist's biggest RP, The Escapist Avatar Adventures.

I have a long history with him, and it spans pages/years.

Well, she's the best girl from Monster Musume, Rachnera.

My original avatar here was a lot more...fitting for my user name-

But I'm a bit of a closet otaku, so, naturally, the animu has sort of taken over. Recent animu avatar hits have included ME!ME!ME!, Guilty Crown, Lucky Star, To-LOVE-Ru, and a few others.

I switch them fairly often, because I enjoy that aspect of forums. Customizing muh stuff is fun and I seem to tire of having the same one for too long.

Mine are always angry or suspicious characters staring rightwards (so that they look like they're looking at the topic with displeasure).

First one was The Monarch, from The Venture Bros. Second one was Stannis Baratheon, the one true king, from A Song of Ice and Fire/ Game of Thrones-- I changed it when Show-Stannis did something unthinkably bad. I still have faith in Book-Stannis (who did not do the bad thing), but the avatar was Show-Stannis, so it had to change.

Now, it's Severus Snape, by far the best character in the Harry Potter series.

Basically just Garrett, the main character from the 'Thief' games. I like his style which introduced me to how I'd play in every game that lets me be a thief/hacker (Deus Ex, Dishonored etc.). I also love the world that was set up in the first three games and the style used in the cutscenes. I even got the sign of the Trickster tattooed on my calf.

Sooo... yeah, Thief was a pretty big deal to me. Still like it today.
