2016 has now come and gone, so what's coming for 2017 you are excited for?

My list includes:

Torment: Tides of Numenera
The Possible Total War: Warhammer stand-alone expansion like Napoleon and Attila.
Red Dead Redemption 2

The somewhat interested list:

Resident Evil 7 (even though it does not look like a RE game at all to me)
Yooka-Laylee (Even though I just don't like the characters I play as for some reason)
Zelda Breath of the Wilds (Even though I hate the Cel Shaded Art Style and technology theme)

Nothing. But I'm interested in a few new IPs.

Vampyr
Yeah, Vampyr looks awesome. The combat in the footage they showed looks rough around the edges but I really hope they'll iron it out. This game better be good. I'm a sucker for anything gothic(well gothic revivalism to be more specific) so I can't wait to play this.

I'm also looking forward to Resident Evil 7. They nailed the atmosphere in those appetizer demos so really curious how the game is going to turn out and what it's connections will be with the rest of the games. It's like a bad soap at this point but atleast with RE7 they have the proper focus.

Also looking forward to Horizon Zero Dawn which looks pretty sweet and Sniper Elite 4. The previous Sniper Elite games were guilty pleasures of mine but this one looks pretty decent.

I also really hope we'll get some updates about the FF7 and RE2 remake. It's been so long. For RE2 there isn't even a trailer. It makes sense they didn't want to steal the limelight from FF15 and RE7 but I hope in the coming year atleast we get more info and release dates.

I'm curious how the new God of War will be. Probably a mixture of The Last of Us and, well, God of War. Which isn't a bad thing. As long as the boss fights are as incredible as ever.

Let me put it this way - my computer can't run Overwatch. OVERWATCH. Not to mention that there's plenty of other RTS's that it can't run either (Grey Goo, Deserts of Kharak, etc.) So nerf or no nerf, I'm not counting on there being a lucky break.

Even that aside, DoW 3 would almost certainly still be in the "mildly interested" category, since while I generally enjoy DoW 1, I'm not as enamored with the series as with some other RTS franchises.

Really looking forward to:
-Horizon: Zero Dawn: It looks pretty good just from gameplay footage plus an Obsidian writer and Witcher quest designer are on the team.

-Prey: It's being developed by Arkane so I'm pretty hopeful

-Rime: Love the artstyle

-Gravity Rush 2: I only played a tiny bit of the first game but I like the concept and artstyle

Keeping an eye on:
-Detroit: Become Human: It's David Cage but I did like Heavy Rain

-Tom Clancy?s Ghost Recon: Wildlands: It doesn't look very good but I loved the competitive MP of Future Soldier so I have a sliver of hope.

-Mass Effect: Andromeda: If it's the same quality over quantity quests that the previous ME games featured than I'm totally on board. However, I feel the open world aspect may ruin the game.

-TellTale Guardians of the Galaxy: I haven't really liked their writing that much lately. The gameplay and engine really need major makeovers IMO. But it's Guardians so...

-Vampyr: The concept is interesting and I have positive view on Dontnod so it has my interest.

If you haven't played it before, it's one of the most fun shooters out there.

The only 2017 game I've got any degree of anticipation for right now is Ace Combat 7. Multiple reasons, but it primarily boils down to the fact that they're basically going back to the PS2-era Ace Combats.

Persona 5 seriously has my attention. I'm patiently waiting for From Software to reveal that new IP that they said that they were working on, and the Surge is a game that has my interest too, I like the idea of a sci-fi Souls game. I'm mildly interested in Halo Wars 2 as a result, which says something as I lost interest for awhile after 4 was a bit of a disappointment. Yooka-Laylee is something I'll check out as well.

Breath of the Wild is my number one at the moment but mainly because I'm not sure what to expect when the Switch launches. I've heard some wild rumors about what might be launching on it but nothing's been confirmed yet. Other than that, there's a second episode of Bertram Fiddle launching on Steam soon and I like that kind of adventure game. Then I'm sure that (now it's complete) King's Quest will be collected and launched on a disc (or cart...Switch).

The main thing with me and 2017 is that I see it as a massive catch-up year for me. I'm moving in a week and I'll be perfectly positioned to steal use my brother's PS4. I see myself getting acquainted with the handful of games that launched on that platform between 2013 and now. Games like Final Fantasy Type-0, Doom, Shadow Warrior, J-Star Victory Vs, Fallout 4...Oh hey, Rusty Lake Roots is on Steam! I have a lot to catch up on even if none of it is stellar.

I really freaking hope the Switch launches with good stuff...I'm going to go out of my way to get one on day 1, or try to.

I don't get excited anymore, since most of what we know about the upcoming games will probably turn out to be lies. I get cautiously optimistic at best.
