So who actually completed Amnesia: The Dark Descent?

As the title says, I'm curious to see here who owns or has played the game and has actually completed it.

Since I'm a crybaby with no pubic hair I couldn't get past an hour of gameplay without having to put it down and never want to play it again.

So, how far did you get if you didn't complete the game?

And yes, I've heard about the prison section... I don't even want to think about it...

Umm... finished it. So there

'Twas good stuff.

And the prison is not the scariest part. Not by a long shot.

I bought it but my computer won't run it.

But even ifit did I probably wouldn't have finished it.

Even your computer is too afraid to play it.

Also, I didn't complete it because I didn't start it. My computer has a hard time playing any games. I did watch a Let's Play! of the whole thing, however. It looked pretty good.

I beat it. Takes around 7 hrs I think. It's a really good game. Can't wait for Frictional's next release.

I also beat Penumbra 1 and 2. I like "being scared".

Actually I had a zombie dream last night. I've never played L4D but I imagine that's the closest parallel I could draw... I remember it was very dark. Indoors. Killing some zombies. I had a "friend" but I don't know who. And I remember there was some places with deep, dark "wells" with a ladder I could desend. I skipped the first two then went down the second one. Pitch black. Could hear zombies. It was freaky. Wierd dream, I know. Unfortunately I'm not sure that I ever made it to the bottom of the ladder, I may have woken up at that point.

Played it through, yes.

-And the prison? Meh.
The torture chambers, however... Oh gods, the torture chambers...

I played it. (And finished of course).
Good game, totally worth getting "in the mood to get scared" and playing it at night alone.

I just finished the demo, and I like what I saw. I'm going to get it soon when I get a better PC. It ran somewhat smooth with 30FPS on medium settings, but when I reached the water part of the demo it was a bit choppy with only 15-24FPS. I like how the game really get under your skin. The one scene where you only can see a faint character run through the mist, I hard a really hard time to enter that room.

I've watched 3 seperate complete Let's Plays of Amnesia...

My laptop can't even run the demo so i must overcompensate!

Besides having Amnesia as your first PC game(Rome Total War aside) is probably a bad idea

Bought that game about a year ago or something? It was one of those games that I couldn't get through in one sitting, the scares would make me leave it alone for an hour or the rest of the day. Gameplay and story were excellent, but I can't remember the endings (there are 3 I'm pretty sure). I got all the endings, but that's because you don't have to play the entire game again to get a different ending, just last level/scene. Prison section was scary yes, so many god damn corners I had to turn, wondering if there was another monster or not T.T. Loved that game, lot of good/bad memories to be had, depending on perspective. Shall always be remembered as one of my most favored horror games.

Yeah, I played both Penumbra games (never finished Requiem) and Amnesia. Great games, really scary.

Im curious as to why you go mad if you a. look at the creature and b.are in the dark

I would want to keep an eye on whatever was there and stay in the dark so it couldnt see me. The makers of this game think it would be safer standing in full light with your back to a monster?

It makes no sense and it annoys me :/

I bought it recently after playing the demo, though haven't finished it yet, partly because I'm a wimp, but mostly because I've got to try and get past a monster in a narrow corridor, and I stupidly lit every damn light on my first trek through, so I'm somewhat screwed.

It did however get me to finally play Project Zero on my PS2, which I just finished last night and enjoyed. Not that it's anything like as scary as Amnesia...

Finished it, and greatly enjoyed it throughout. It even gave me a few moments of genuine panic which is all I can ask for in a horror game. I was slightly disappointed by the ending(s) but overall a great game.

It's to make you more uncomfortable. Everyone's first instinct would be to keep an eye on the threat, but the fact you have to look away adds tension because you know something is there, but you don't know what it's doing or where it's going. For a more in character explanation: the protagonist is a pussy, and can't control his breathing when he sees something he finds scary (or when he sees nothing at all due to a complete lack of light) so looking at anything he doesn't like will cause nearby creatures to hear him.

I finished it. The water was definitely the most scary for me the first time in the demo. Still had trouble when I got to it in the full game.

Giving you someone genuinely friendly to talk to at the end really lowered the tension, which wasn't such a good idea if you ask me

This is probably going to sound really douchy but I think thats why it irritates me, the protagonist is a bigger wuss than I am. I always feel like I want to slap him and shout pull yourself together man. I'm a chick so he should feel bad.
