-Travis Touchdown.
-Lara Croft.
-Little Mac.
-Another character from Metroid. I don't car if it's Ridley, or Sylux or a Space Pirate. It's one of Ninty's biggest franchises, but has less representatives than Fire Emblem and Earthbound.

And a competitive tournament mode. No items or moving stages (maybe everyone gets one final smash to use during the match) and no tripping.

Fierce Deity Link... the only way I would accept another Link clone and not gaining Midna. I finally got that mask a month ago and holy crap was it fun!

Playable Miis.

Other than that, well...I'll leave the obscure trivia trophies and character selection to the professionals.

...but if we got a little more eclectic even a BlazBlue character like Bang Shishigami would be a lot of fun. His over the top heroism could explain his presence and his fu-rin-ka-zan theme could play for him and only him when he got the invincibility star.
Fuck yeah, that would be awesome, though I highly doubt it will ever happen.

Megaman and Zero, in just about any of their incarnations (Original, X, Zero, Battle Network, any of them), would be great.

Cocoto, the little red imp-rat creature with all the shovelware would be kinda cool, too, especially if his final smash was just a light gun gallery type thing.

Finally, Jack Frost (ala SMT). He just seems that he would fit in well there... if Nintendo could magically get the rights to him.

I can tell you a few characters I would be surprised to NOT see:

Epic Yarn Kirby: Just adding a few yarn-based attacks would only distill a popular character.

Tails and or Knuckles and or Shadow the Hedgehog: SSB loves clone characters, and sonic has a few very popular characters; I hope they choose tails, he was always my favorite Sonic character as a kid.

The White-Haired Rival character shown in the new Zelda Promo: Because said character is an obvious ploy to tug at fan-girls, and will likely get more screen time then he deserves.

Dr. Robotnik: Because, come on. a popular villain from a popular game. he can sit in the bad guy corner with Bowser, Gannon and DeeDeeDee.

Edit: oh, I forgot King K. Rule! I was stunned not to have had him as playable yet.

There will likely be a new story mode, which will hopefully build off of the success of the story mode from SSB:B (unlike soul Caliber IV, oh how I was disappointed with the lack of appropriate story mode.)

Hopefully we will not get some random "character" from Other M, that would be like a slap in the face.

More stationary maps, please, for the love of god! I believe that map hazards are part of the fun in this game; however, the moving maps are just over kill, and often end up becoming a contest of "Who can survive the moving map the longest?" (a certain Donkey Kong map comes to mind...) Although... I did enjoy the Delcino Plaza map. hmm. I suppose there is an exception to every rule.

Note: I am posting this before reading the thread, so if I'm just repeating what other people have been saying, I apologize.

Geno: A character that has both nostalgia appeal and a unique fighting style

Krystal: There's potential to show that there is more to the Star Fox universe than futuristic space combat. If she used her staff and magic, there's a fully realized fighter right there.

Megaman: An iconic character that is held in as much of a high regard as Mario and Sonic. I don't know much about the character myself, but I do know that the Megaman games are both popular and retro enough to warrant consideration.

Simon Belmont: How many video game heroes choose a whip over a sword or a gun? This is something almost unique to the Castlevania franchise, and can add another finesse fighter to the ranks of Marth and Olimar.

I'm sure more thoughts will come to me later, but these are my initial thoughts.

I like the idea of Travis and Little Mac.

While I like that Lara Croft is a master of freerunning and acrobatic fighting, and therefore a welcome addition to the colorful variety of the Smash fighters, I feel that a sex symbol is a bad idea for the Smash Bros series. As an alternative, I suggest the Prince of Persia, who also is known for his masterful acrobatic fighting style and freerunning technique, not to mention his control over time is a good idea for a Final Smash.

The problem with Metroid is that it doesn't have a lot of characters. The whole idea behind the Metroid series (up until Other M, anyway) is the solitude that you feel while exploring a planet with almost only hostiles inhabiting it. The other problem is that almost all of the memorable hostiles are too big to be realistically implemented in the chaotic Smash Bros style of combat. Whereas Bowser and Ganondorf can just be large humanoids, iconic Metroid enemies are larger than life Godzilla creatures. Perhaps a solution would be to re-size Ridley, though the idea of incorporating movement outside of walking around is ridiculously difficult, but I propose that you take one of the rival hunters from Prime 3.

Don't mind me, I love deconstructing random posts on the internet.

obvious choices:
Sora
Megaman
Simon Belmont might be good
Issac or his son, since they are both similar
Travis Touchdown, although there couldn't be any blood, gore or cussing, so...

all of these could easily get a move list, since half of them have been in fighting games anyway.

my out of nowhere pick:
Phoenix Wright. he'd be medium weight, medium strength.
move list would be:

B. OBJECTION!- charged move that does the iconic point. shouts "Objection!" when released.
side B. Present evidence- like dedede's minion throw, throws a random piece of evidence. shouts "Take That!".
down B. Desk slam- possibly charged move that pulls out a desk and slams it on the ground, doing a dk-like quake. shouts "Hold It!".
up B. Turnabout- climbs a pile of evidence and uppercuts with the "right one". should go as high as final cutter or aether.
Final smash, Not Guilty- hits one opponent, transitions to court where phoenix does a flurry of moves before the judge slams the gavel, scene transitions back. deals fairly high damage and sends target flying.

obviously i've thought about it quite a bit =D
the only other things i can think is make some that got weaker in brawl stronger (mario, samus, marth for starters) reduce the number of copy characters (i never wanna see anything like fox, falco and wolf again) and limit the number of same game characters, especially if they fight the same. mario, luigi, bowser, peach, yoshi, wario is way too many for one game set. yes most of them fight differently and have had their own games, but seriously?

id also say remove invulnerability on smashes that let you have control. those are fairly cheap without consequence. make it like bowser's.

I will say this: I will make hot, jungle animal love to the disk if Geno makes it in.

I agree, Geno would be awesome, but unlikely sadly.

Gray Fox would be fun, but I can't see them making a tertiary character from a non-Nintendo series playable. Or maybe Dante, or Ryu from Ninja Gaiden...

*sigh* A man can dream though... A man can dream.

Ridley needs to be PLAYABLE. His cameo boss appearence was nice, but he has WAY too much potential to not be a playable character.
An enormous space pirate cyborg dragon? Good luck balancing that, Nintendo! :p

I really wish Minecraft was on the 3DS or something now, cause the people saying Minecraft Guy made me think how absolutely awesome that would be. Final Smash: Build an obsidian shelter just in time for a Creeper & TNT rainstorm.

Gordon Freeman. He could beat everyone with just a Crow-bar. He would not lose, ever.

On a more serious note, I want Midna. I love Midna, I'd marry her if she was real.

Mewtwo again
yeah I loved mewtwo but he was replaced with lucario (pretty much exact same move set except faster).

I would also like to see toxicroak or dusknoir in the game, maybe not as playable characters but just as pokemon that come out of pokeballs would be nice. dusknoir could fly around and punch things and toxicroak could jump on peoples characters and start poison jabbing them.

Majora's Mask Link. It could be treated like Pokemon Trainer from Brawl, only Zora, Goron, and Deku. The final smash could be Fierce Deity Link.

If we were to get another Sonic character, I think Knuckles could fit right in.

*Insert favorite Fire Emblem character here.

Oh and like Trezu said, Pokemon Trainer again. Can't really think of any others right now because it's 6 in the morning. I'll probably be back when I've had some sleep.

-Bring back all the veterans: Including the clone characters dropped between Melee and Brawl.
[sub]Except Pichu, because he sucks, and both Mini-Links, because Toon Link is annoying and Young Link is almost totally unnecessary.[/sub]
-Travis Touchdown: Lightsabers, jumping around like crazy and being able to go SS3 as a Final Smash? Sign him up!
[sub]Never mind the swearing and stuff like that; that's gotten rid of easily enough.[/sub]
-Playable Lyn: Sure, as an assist trophy she's pretty cool, but I'm sure most people would rather be playing as her.
[sub]Ike was pretty cool, but he's not Lyn...[/sub]
-Geno: The fans wanted him in Brawl, and he's got a pretty versatile arsenal, having a few guns in his hands and of course, Geno Whirl.
[sub]That would be his Final Smash, just in case you couldn't tell.[/sub]

And now for one that's totally impossible, but a guy's entitled to some wishful thinking, right?

-Reimu: I know this is never going to happen in a million years, but come on! Since there's other third-party devs around, why not an indie game maker as well? An attack list shouldn't be hard to make, and as for a Final Smash...
[sub](Also, if you're going to put in Reimu, any chance Marisa's coming to the party too?)[/sub]
