If you're not informed, here's the deal: for the next week, Metroid Prime Trilogy will be on sale for $10. To me, this is one of the best deals I've seen in years for games, and I watch Steam constantly. So, if you have a Wii U, now might be a good time to get these amazing games.

For me, I'm super stoked to be playing the game again, now with the Wii controls. I had planned on getting it when it came out for the Wii, but I wasn't employed at the time, and since I owned all 3 games already, I didn't feel like spending $50 on getting improved controls for 2 games. I came back later to snatch it, but it suffered from Nintendo's stupidity. They had stopped making the game and now it was valued at $100. UGH!

NINTENDO TAKE PAYPAL GODDAMMIT AAAAAARRRRGGHHHHHHGGGGGGHHHGHHGHGHGHHGHGHGHGGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh is Prime Trilogy out on Wii U, I had no idea, well aint this a pleasant suprise. ;)

But seriously, I wish they took paypal because now I have to head to a store and get a paid card or a code, so I hope I can get the sale price since I know some stores can sell you a code to redeem for the game. Its how I bought Earthbound.

Yep, installing right now (damn Australian internet)

I recently got into the Metroid franchise after buying the original, super Metroid and fusion on the eshop. I really wanted to get the trilogy set so i could play them all on my wii u, but as the OP said it was discontinued and is very expensive. But wow, $13 (that's a 50% launch sale) for 3 beloved classics is a steal, hell even $26 is a really good price considering how much Nintendo charges for their retro games

Now the only thing to do now is to see if these games live up to the hype.

They are quite good, but Super Metroid will always be the best. One thing you have to break yourself of is viewing these games as first person shooters. They are not. They are first person adventure games, despite the fact that you are in first person and shooting things. When I got my Game Cube version of the first game, I didn't play it for about 4 years because I felt like I wanted dual stick controls since it was a FPS game. I went back some time later, and abused the lock-on feature like it was Z targeting from Zelda. It made all the difference.

In this version, you can still lock on, but your cursor is still free to move around. That can be both good and bad, depending on what you're doing. I've been screwing up a bunch due to my muscle memory, and finding myself locked on to, but not hitting my targets because I'm spamming A to fire, and Z to lock onto the next small target while never actually hitting anything. The cursor is hanging off to the side just a bit, and it's enough to screw my whole process up. I think I saw an option to prevent this, but I think I want to get used to it than to just make the entire control scheme become a Wiimote version of the Gamecube controller.

Perhaps the only time I've ever genuinely felt loss at not owning a WiiU

Prime was my first time experiencing a Metroid game. It blew me away first time I played it on the Gamecube. Retro Studios are becoming the new RARE with how they treat the IP's they're given. Prime remains one of my top 5 games of all time. Only later upon playing Super Metroid did I realize Prime was just a 3d version of that game. Not underselling it all, but it just made me understand how great these games are.

Had I not built my PC, I'd already be playing this with my new Wii U.

Already have it for the wii :) second best purchase I made on a whim at Gamestop, its great to hear that Nintendo is remaking its games on the virtual network so people can play them forever.

I wish more 3rd party games could do this.

I already own the Trilogy in physical form (Including GC versions of Prime 1 & 2), so I will not be taking advantage of the deal. That being said, the games are amazing and should be purchased by anyone who has yet to play them. The value also is absolutely worth it (Even if it wasn't 50% off).

I found the Wii version last year in CEX, snatched it right up... despite being £40 second hand.

I own all three games individually, and I'm honestly considering it. The only additions to the games are wii controls, achievement challenges that earn you points to spend on gallery extras in each game, and widescreen format for Prime 1 and 2. I don't currently have an external hardrive for my Wii U, but that's something I can see myself picking up soon if they keep picking out great Wii games like these.

I heard Kirby's Return to Dreamland and Sin & Punishment were sneakily announced as later additions. Both were pretty good. I mean, I don't like the wii console very much in retrospective, but it did have some great exclusive games.

Never actually finished a Metroid game the first one I played was Super Metroid on SNES and hated it. Still have prime on GC and I really liked it but only got so far as the x ray visor upgrade and it started to feel to much of a chore to play so I stopped but it is a damn good game. Hated the second one returned it within days couldnt stand it. I have the third one on its own still havent given it much time tbf was fun the brief time I played maybe one day I will go back but as for the trilogy I will pass still have 2 out of the 3 games anyway and there are other games I would rather play atm tbh.

I loved all the Metroid games upto Prime, the rest never really appealed to me that much. But yeah, if you never played the Metroid Prime games definitely pick this one up if you have a WiiU. My favorite is still the first one, which I think is near-perfect. I played through it like 3 times when it was originally released on Gamecube. Absolutely fantastic game and a near flawless transition of the Metroid formula into 3D. One of my all-time favorite Nintendo games next to A Link to the Past, Super Metroid and Super Mario World.

I have my physical copy still, and I keep intending to play it, but... me being anal and all means I have to play them in order, and I couldn't QUITE finish the first game. One day though, I will do as I did with Skyward Sword, and dedicate all of my free time to the completion of all 3. Unfortunately, that will have to come after I do the same with Xenoblade Chronicles. And I probably won't have the time until this year's Game Drought.

Considering I never found a copy of Prime 3 for less than 10 bucks, I'm totally picking this up.

Plus, I won't have to find everything I need to plug in the GC stuff to the Wii to play the first two.

I did and I don't even own a wii u. You can buy the codes digitally. I feel like I just bought a game off steam I can't run. Really hoping they notice people bought it and make a new one.

Ten dollars to download the first Prime alone would be a steal, having all three is insane! Since I have all three on their original systems I probably won't get it. Though if one extra download will help convince Nintendo to produce another Metroid game with Retro Studios helming (wait helming isn't a word?) the project, I may just buy it. Plus, having an extra copy of three games I really like is nice to have.

despite not owning a wii u yet (really want one though), this is one of the areas that make me glad I never get rid of a past generation and never trade anything in. inevitably, you will yearn for a game from a past generation that you enjoyed, and then guess what, it's gonna cost 3 times as much to get the hardware again and find a copy of the game that's assured to work.

Still got my original wii, softmodded, with my trilogy disc saved to a hard drive so I don't have to worry about damaging it. still got the first 2 on the gamecube too. So I'm allllll set XD

I've been playing it a lot since it came out on the Eshop. I had the original Prime on the Game Cube but I never finished it for reasons I can't remember now. Although as much as I'm enjoying the game, it's a definite exercise in frustration as well. Every time I walk into a room and Chozo Ghosts appear I groan. It also doesn't help that the 3D map is more of a hindrance than help at times.

hmm... I'm tempted to go buy a Wii U on the spot to take advantage of that deal. I don't suppose it's possible to buy Wii U games digitally without actually owning a console is it?

I just did :)

You can buy it online as a 'guest' through Nintendo and they give you a download code right then and there, and via email as well. Hey, it was just $10, so either I buy a Wii U later on down the line or I'll give it to my friend, who actually owns one but doesn't check for deals, like ever.

Sorry, I forgot to mention that the Trilogy doesn't use the game pad, only the original Wii motion controller and nunchuck.

I would have edited my response to you but I believe that negates the new message notification.
