So who else is jumping on the Metriod Prime Trilogy deal?

Correct.

I, personally, will be jumping on this the moment the weather settles down and I can go get an eShop card - because I don't have a credit card and they don't take Paypal... - because I loved these games to death, and just the thought of New Play Control Metroid Prime made me drool when I first heard about it.

If you're not informed, here's the deal: for the next week, Metroid Prime Trilogy will be on sale for $10. To me, this is one of the best deals I've seen in years for games, and I watch Steam constantly. So, if you have a Wii U, now might be a good time to get these amazing games.
On sale where? Because if its the Nintendo Eshop, fuck that. Tie purchases to accounts not consoles Ninny and I might actually use your storefront.

If its somewhere else I would like to have backups of prime 1&2 in case my GC disks somehow get damaged, and 10$ is right about what I'm willing to pay for the same games but with worse controls and graphics.

The controls in Corruption are great.

And in 1/2 as long as you disable the "free aim while locked on" or whatever its called you should be fine.
I Just want a controller, also I don't want to buy a nunchuck just for one game. Well 3 games but ya

Ten dollars to download the first Prime alone would be a steal, having all three is insane! Since I have all three on their original systems I probably won't get it. Though if one extra download will help convince Nintendo to produce another Metroid game with Retro Studios helming (wait helming isn't a word?) the project, I may just buy it. Plus, having an extra copy of three games I really like is nice to have.
The idiomatic expression is "at the helm," so in this case you'd say "at the helm of the project."

"Helm" in this context isn't a verb, so you can't make into the progressive verb form "helming" without the spelling checker coming to get you.

I'm not trying to talk down to you at all. I'm a teacher, of English and History specifically, so if anyone gets confused about something I know about, I am compelled to alleviate their confusion. It's just what I do...

I've owned, played and beaten all the games so I don't really want to buy it again.
If they had bothered to actually render the game at 1080p, like you can with a dolphin emulator, I'd have purchased it again. But as it is it's just literally the wii trilogy.

Ugh, really? I loved the two Gamecube MP games and was already considering playing through them again when I read this. I never played the Wii one, thanks to that horrible controller. I have a completely messed up wrist and it's just too painful, was really hoping they would have at least offered an option for standard controls. Video games aren't as fun when they're painful.

This makes me sad.

Picked it up today. My brother, after picking up the credit for it, found a physical used copy in CeX. £62 they're trying to sell it for, so yeah, pretty glad to pick it up for £9.

I can't help but feel that by quoting me, you're telling me I'm full of shit for even mentioning the deal because of the issues you have with the store. Thanks for that.

Thank you, that was bugging me! I've heard "helming" used in other cases so I never thought it was improper grammar then. I'll keep that in mind. :D

Unless you work at Nintendo, I have no issue with you personally. So um, your welcome I guess. The question was legit, the rest was directed at no one in particular, and I chose to quote you because you made the the thread saying "a thing is on sale" without providing any more info.

I think just saying what you said without quoting would have been far better. It seemed like you were directing your irritation at the person you quoted (me). You have legitimate grievances, but this thread really isn't about them. It's like the whole "if you don't have anything nice to say..." principle, but if you have to say something, don't direct it at the guy asking the question, say it to the whole conversation as your opinion of the topic.

For me, I'm super stoked to be playing the game again, now with the Wii controls.
I want a Play Prime 3 with a Gamecube controller option, I loved 1 and 2 but I also have a shattered wrist held together with titanium pins, so 3 was quite literal torture to play.

As for buying this one, I still have one and two and a Gamecube to play them on... and a Wavebird, the greatest wireless controller of all time damnit!

That's a shame. I've been getting a bit of a sore wrist this time around too. I've played plenty of Wii games and never suffered any arm fatigue.

As for the Wavebird, hell yeah! It's how I played the original on the Gamecube. I only have two issues with it:
1)No rumble. Not a deal breaker, but I still miss it.
2) There is a perceivable amount of input lag with the Wavebird. I didn't notice it much until I played Smash Bros against a friend, but after that, I feel it too often. It 99% doesn't matter though for most games. That 1% is fully needed when playing my friend, because he's one of the few people that I can't beat regularly. Any advantage he gets will apply ten fold back at me if I hope to win.

I jumped on the deal but I'm mildly disappointed that I have to use the Wiimote + Nunchuck on Prime and presumably Prime 2 (I understand that I'm stuck with it for Corruption). It's going to take a lot of getting used to but it was a really good deal so I'm not going to complain too much about the controls when I would be lucky to pay $10 for just one of those games on the trilogy.
Honestly I think the motion controls are really good. It almost feels like aiming with a mouse on a PC, it's very percise.
I've never got that feeling...I don't have to recalibrate my mouse for example. Also my arms are resting on my desk as I use it instead of being extended out in front of me. When it's worked for me, it works well but it still feels really unwieldy and strange to me at the moment...well, it did before my arm went numb.

Then you arent looking well enough, 3 gamecube games (I guess some part belongs to the Wii because of the controls and added stuff) for 10$, that isnt that cheap.

Oh, so its because they are greedy assholes.

Still, paying 10% of the supposed price (because you should be taking the original price into account) isnt exactly small, I bought the Jagged Alliance pack (it costs 39,99$) for 1$.

I shouldnt be so nitpicky about stuff like this but its because of that attitude (thinking that its a great deal when its just ok) that gets the game to cost 100$ in the first place.

Its the same with the amiibos, they are charging for basic stuff (the way its handled with Smash is laughable, so whoever doesnt buy them cant take the save of a character with them to fight with their friends in another console? Have they never heard of saving a file in a pen or in the cloud?) I know that some people will say that the statue itself is worth the money, and I get that, but are all those people that are buying them the ones that used to buy that kind of merchandise? I dont remember people talking about merchandise from other games here as much as the amiibos.

I know it's digital, but it's effectively brand new. That's the only price point you can legitimately compare it to anyway. It still boils down to $3.33 per game. Most Steam games don't get that cheap on sale, and the ones that do usually aren't nearly as good as the Metroid games.

I never said it should be compared to the second hand market. THEY are the ones that are greedy assholes. Nintendo just was a moron again and stopped producing a great package title for no good reason. The fact that so many people are willing to pay the second hand prices says they should have made more copies.

I don't logically follow. It's $100 because they stopped making the game before demand was satiated. It's never going to cost that again because now that people can buy it digitally just to play it, the demand is going to drop way down. The only people that will value it that highly are those that are collectors. That demand is only determined by the rarity of the game, not the hype behind it. You're right though, your pessimism is self defeating.

Yeah, the Amiibos are the same thing. Low production rates to the high demand. It doesn't help when collectors and scalpers are grabbing most of the stock before the people with a casual interest like you and me get a chance to grab one. That's another topic for another time. Right now, the sale is at hand!

If they didnt sell as few as they did (turning it into a somewhat rare product) 10$ wouldnt sound that great of a deal, am I right?

Anyone that was uncertain at first of buying an amiibo probably will now since they know that if they dont buy it at the chance they have they will be long gone.

Nintendo is playing you, and the problem isnt that they are charging more for something that should be cheaper (its digital, that never runs out so it isnt even in direct competition to the rare, now sold as 100$, disc games), the problem is that the fanbase sees that as good will.

Just grabbed it.
Also discovered I own Wind Waker HD...somehow.
Also stumbled across my DL code for Super Metroid.

So now I'm up 4 Metroid games and a Zelda game.

Cool stuff.

Wow dude, you're hopeless. $10 for 3 games of Prime's quality is a good deal any way you slice it. You're not right about that at all. You're free to be disinterested or not like the Prime games, but for fuck's sake, quit shitting on this thread. If you don't like the deal, move on and don't buy it!

Nintendo has done some other shady shit like the Youtube thing that Jim talked about yesterday, but this isn't one of them. Unless you believe games should be free, you have no argument here. Quit acting like I only made this thread because I'm a Nintendo fanboy or something.

Wow... what a bunch of garbage. Is this the kind of trash that's in your skull? How in the hell is $10 not a deal? I bet you would complain if the game was free. "It's free? They should have included all the 2D Metroid games... morons."

ANYway... back on topic... you know... point of the thread. Thanks for letting us know. I bought it when it came out and enjoy it a lot. I hope everyone who enjoys the series gets a chance to pick it up for this price. In my opinion it's worth it.
I wasnt saying that it wasnt a deal or anything, I was saying that there have been a lot of better deals to someone that said "To me, this is one of the best deals I've seen in years for games, and I watch Steam constantly" and that the notion was coming from the way that Nintendo prices and sells its things (the price of their games drop a lot slower for example).

And did you really create an account just to say this? You and the OP have already used personal insults (hopeless and filled with garbage, plus you made a pretend quote where I insult all of you, that is a poor way of representing someone), a thing that I never did to any of you (certainly not you since you are new here) so cut down on the defensiveness.

Case in point, compared with most deals its an ok one, something along the lines of the usual Rockstar sales (multiple times a year) where you can buy a GTA pack with all the GTA games for 7$ so I cant see how anything that I am saying is wrong since this isnt indeed "one of the best deals I've seen in years for games, and I watch Steam constantly".
