Ok, so it's equal season and half of my XBL and PSN friends list is playing BF3. I have no doubt that the other half will be playing MW3 when that's released. I just wanted to know who else isn't really that keen on either and simply refuses to bow to social pressure. While I like my FPS as much as the next guy/girl I'm just a little tired of the modern iteration.

For Further discussion value: What would you like to see added to/ Changed in FPS's

Well I have now plans to buy either, but im not taking a stand against either. Im sure theyll both be great. I just have other games id prefer to play. Maybe once a few friends get one of them ill pick it up, but just not too keen on either right now.

As for what id like to see changed? Not a lot really. Id like to see a bit more insanity. Lot of these FPS games are too serious. But despite what the doomsayers say, FPS games havent really stagnated. Theyre pretty much doing the same thing they always did, cept now its more Modern war rather than WWII.

I dislike your strawman that implies people only buy popular games due to peer pressure. Have you ever considered those games are popular for a reason?

I'm iffy about buying Battlefield or simply waiting for Skyrim myself. Don't think I'll buy MW2. What I want changed? Not really sure, less fan boys if that counts. At least less Call Of Duty ones just because their so irritating...

I agree with Mr. Pantomime. I'm not getting either, not so much as a personal stand, but because I can only afford a few games, and I just don't happen to want either one as much as I want, say, Deus Ex: Human Revolution.

I don't buy either because I already know everything thats in them. I bought Battlefield 2, it does everything Battlefield 3 did, except better. The only worse thing is the graphics.

I'd like to see things in FPS games other than "hold down left mouse button while looking at the enemy", Metro 2033 was quite fun despite still being a FPS. A bit of variation in enemies also doesn't hurt. "Suicidal Nazi/Taliba- sorry, OpFor soldier" just doesn't do the trick anymore.

Me! I don't really dig the whole realistic thing most popular shooters are these days. It's unappealing to me. I'm more of an action/RPG kind of person, though I do have a few FPSes in my library that I do enjoy. They just involve colorful environments and aliens.

Me. Buying them for single player just is not worth it, and I suck at online multiplayer so there is no point for me to buy either of them.

I won't be getting either, but I don't have anything against those who will like the OP does, first person shooters just aren't really my thing. Besides, my little brother recently bought Bad Company 2 for £10, so I can always play that when I get the FPS itch.

I don't play FPSs, I'm into RPGs and fighters and those take up all my time since I'm seriously into them.

Coincidentally, Final Fantasy Type-0 rules :D.

I can't be bothered with the "realistic" shooter genre as a whole, I don't play online (too many bigots and arseholes) and those games tend to have rubbish single-player campaigns. I'm playing old point-and-click adventures and Dragon Quest games until Skyrim comes out.

Not on launch day anyway. Maybe months later. When Skyrim is completed 100% :p

I won't be playing either of them, just because they do not interest me enough to look past the first trailer.

I'll buy Serious Sam 3 when it gets a Steam Sale, not really into military shooters.

I'm not going to buy either one because I feel I've played enough 'realistic' shooters to last me a lifetime. Besides, I've got realism all around me for most of my day - why would I want it to clog up my brief respite? No, thank you.

I won't be playing either of them, because Battlefield never interested me and MW3 pulled the no dedicated server dick move (Well there are dedicated server but you can´t get XP points, only when you are using the IWNet Service or what ever this weird system is called).

I noticed that a lot of the people in my town who bought Black Ops said 'well my friends are getting it so I'll get it too.' I'm not saying that was the only reason but it was there.
