I am and while the lack of a true visual on my party members dissuaded me at first; I gotta say Im glad I stuck with it. this game is addictive and hard to put down. I love the mystery and all the lore, and the story to bit by bit has been great so far. Im not gonna spoil anything for anyone but

I just got to where you discover the city where the "unclean ones" are! OMG!

So yeah what are your thoughts escapado's is it a yay or a nay?

I'm at the exact same place as you or probablr about a hour pass that . As far as not being able to see my team , i don't mind that . I played Strange journey and devil survivor . Actually leaving it to the imagination is pretty interesting actually . So far it's amazing , but i had not doubt about that when purchasing this game since it's an SMT game .

The difficulty is just right , the story is good , the characters are good , the music is good , the gameplay is addictive , everything is good imo. My one and only minor annoyance , is that there is no 1st person camera mode . Man i loved dungeon crawling in first person in Strange journey and was kinda hoping to be able to here .

I wanna get either this or Etrian Odyssey 4, but the battle view bothers me.
I'd prefer to have my battles in full view, not first person camera.

I just unlocked the Terminal in Ikebukuro. My vote on the game is a resounding
I kind of broke the game with excessive grinding, though. My team was 23 levels above the last boss I fought. Sometimes bosses don't even get a round of combat. It definitely has that feeling that only SMT can provide when you are bopping around with the Prince of the Nine Hells, Athena, and Alice.

I have both and its worth the investment. I can understand that the games seem very similar but the differences are rather jarring. SMT IV is more of a Final Fantasy experience; running around and getting into fights while engaging in little bits of narrative. EO4 is more like Nethack or a similar dungeon crawling experience where you must sometimes carefully calculate your map movement and carefully consider your options once you have entered combat.

Basically, get both.

I love SMT IV so far. The combat is fast and excitingly lethal (seriously, one wrong move or lost turn can kill you). The demon negotiations are fascinating in their randomness. Overall, its just a good game that deserves to be played.

This is my first game where I couldnt see my team. I usually avoided games like dragon quest and there ilk for that reason but the smt series like always is the exception. I figured I would give it a chance and after awhile my imagination started to take over. Its alot of fun like you said picturing in your head the ensuing battle.:D

Loving it so far, been playing it sparingly to enjoy it as much as I can, I'm in Shinjuku doing some sidequests right now, leveling up and bumming money off demons.

Don't know why so many reviewers ripped on the difficulty, I think it is thrilling, the visuals are also bloody excellent.

Can't wait to play more, but for now, games with Escapist friends!
who ripped on it?

NICE! with what is it 400 demons who can decide? I wish izanagi from persona was in here though since izanami is. The Idea of having Odin and Hel on my team sounds pretty beast though.

I'm over 40 hours into the game. Loving it to hell. :D

I have been fusing my butt off, I make everything I can just to have a good enough variety. The search system for fusing is super efficient since by including compedium demons you really maximize your fusing potential.

so what exactly does the acronym SMT stand for?
Shin Megami Tensei. It's the name of the series.

Technically I am. I did buy it, I did play it for a few hours, but the problem is that Animal Crossing New Leaf still exists.

So every time I say to myself "I'm going to play some SMTIV" I always follow it with "But first lemme just check on Animal Crossing."

...then before I know it several hours have passed and I have to go to bed because I have work at 4:30 in the morning.

So yeah. I've really liked what I've actually played, just so far that hasn't been very much...

I just finished my playthrough. took 60 hours, and I don't regret a'one. definitely justified my purchase of Fire Emblem: Awakening.

I like how they took away the things that made nocturne so frustrating (losing potentially up to an hour of content if you died due to sparse save points, and auto-game over if MC died) without compromising the true difficulty. a really enjoyable experience.

I'm 40 some hours into this game and I'm loving it. demon negotiations seem to hate me though. I have such a hard time convincing anybody.
Also, did anybody else die on the first tutorial battle? please tell me it wasn't just me

I just picked it up and im already at the unclean ones city as well. I can say im really enjoying it, considering they took everything wrong with the last one and fixed all of the issues. Its pretty brilliant so far.
