Playing a violent game out of "Spite" is not only petty, but pretty fucking childish.

some kiddie "get back" plan against the morons who believe whatever FOX tells them is reality.

This thread kind of depresses me, that some of you seem to think that choosing to play a game because some people said they weren't because of their misinformed opinion is some way of sticking it to them.

It's a way of demonstrating that you can play violent games and not turn into some kind of violent lunatic who murders kids. As I said in the first post.

PFfft I played TF2 on PC and Unit 13 on Vita, I'm not stopping something because some idiot blames a form of entertainment over the persons insanity.

No, I understand the point of the gesture, a wholesome gesture, but still just a gesture, I do feel bad about the school shootings, but not playing videogames isn't going to unshoot people. Plus I'm home for Christmas, and other than video games there isn't much to do around here.

Which is why I said "some of" and not "all of." There are people in this thread who specifically stated they were doing it just to spite those who participated in this laughable affair.

I won't be participating. But you know what I also won't be doing? Deliberately playing an ultra-violent game to "spite this".
How pathetic and childish. Downright disrespectful to be honest.

Wow, that is pretty bad. Just as you said it pretty much is trying to say "Games are the cause (not mental disorders), so lets not be violent in games for a day". I am probably not going to play the most violent game I have, I will probably just play one of the new games I received this holiday.

Just finished a long session of Borderlands 2. Who's it being disrespectful to? The guy who decided that Ceasefire friday would be a Thing? Sure, I'm fine with that.

Nope. I'll be playing Painkiller and Serious Sam just to piss people off.

Seriously, why stop playing shooters when we know that video games don't cause mass shootings? I'm not giving credence to people who put the blame on video games. Last time I check video games are played across the world but only in America do mass shootings happen the most.

So the rationale is this.

Games were blamed for the Newtown massacre.
That is partly true, but this event states that it doesn't actually blame games, it is sort of a "Remembrance day" thing, in which we have a ceasefire, or a day of peace in respect of those passed away by not playing games, and have a minute of silence.

Personally, I think the capthca knows who you are, you're "the cat lady"!

While I think the entire idea of no shooter friday was a poor idea which, as others have already said, just gives another excuse for the ignorant to connect gaming to this tragedy, I can respect those gamers who took part. However its taken by anyone else, any gamer who intentionally made the decision not to play them did do so out of a sign of respect, and I salute you all.

I just hope thats how it's seen by those in the community who would point the finger at us

Didn't know there was a such thing, but seeing as I just bought Farcry 3 and Hitman: Absolution... There's a good chance I'm going to be playing violent games for a few weeks, at least. And then there's my backlog.

Will I be a good little boys in the eyes of media if I instead play WoW and cause murder and mayhem to innocent NPC's?

I wound up beating Assassin's Creed 3 on 12/21, which involved stabbing a ton of people, but I don't believe I used a firearm. So that makes everything better, or something.

I may explode a Prussian eyeball in Sniper Elite V2 on Friday just to defy the stupidity of this particular movement, but beyond that, I doubt I'll bother playing any FPS games. I have XCOM to get hopelessly addicted to, after all.

Either ban the guns or stop complaining they're being used for their intended purpose.
