Being honest I'm probably playing Dawn of War that day.

It's not a shooter, but you shoot more things in one map than you could in a week with an FPS.

It's Warhammer 40k, how do you not shoot things in that?

I am playing Orks... which strangely enough have the best ranged unit in the game.

Is this actually a thing? I sure hope not. Well I still have to finish Mortal Kombat 9's challenge tower, so I might as well not play a shooter, because thankfully those are the ONLY violent video games, and of course they are fully responsible for what happened.

Seriously though, picking a target instead of trying to find out what really happened cheapens the whole thing.
Captcha: "frozen peas". I have no idea what that means but it must be relevant somehow.

I might finally be able to pick up that achievement in Mirror's Edge for not shooting anybody.
You can do it! I can get through the game with four KO's and no deaths at all, you can get through it without gunshots. :p

OT: I don't play shooters these days, so I guess I am participating.

I'll probably take part in his in the same way I took part in the Chick-fil-A boycott. I've never eaten at Chick-fil-A, and I'm not going to let some right wing nut force me or keep me from eating there. I haven't eaten there since his remarks, simply because I refuse to let my behavior be controlled by what some dickwad says or does. If someone buys me something from Chick-fil-A, I'll eat it.

By that same token, I probably won't play a shooter on Friday because I'm in the middle of my first playthrough of Okami. I'm not going to put it aside just to spite this proposed cease fire. If my girlfriend wants to play some Left 4 Dead or Gears of War, I won't say no just because of it. I refuse to let some child murderer several states away control any aspect of my life, beyond taking a couple minutes to respond to a forum post. The asshole just isn't worth it.

Objection, a tactical marine squad armed with max. rocket launchers is the best ranged unit xD. The unit you mention, which one is that?

Not only will I be playing shooters on friday, I will be mentally replacing my enemies with school children!

(Before I get reported, I am of course joking).
Why do it mentally if you can mod them into the game?

[small](Ok, that may have gone a bit far)[/small]

Honestly, I think that their claiming that 'they're not blaming video games, it's just something to show respect for the parents'.

I can see the rational, but I don't agree with it. They're basically saying 'We're not blaming shooters...but we kind of can draw a possible line from the shooting to shooter games'

I get the main idea for it, but I don't think that it is a good enough rational. It's like saying 'let's ban guns so bad people won't have them'. It makes sense, but there will still be guns out there and the only people who'll have them are the cops and the bad guys (because if you want it in this world, you can have it with many things). I don't think their intentions are bad, though they may be trying to push ulterior motives of game-blaming...even if it's not, it's not worth it.

I won't play shooters that day probably because...well I don't have many that I am playing right now. I feel like going out of the way to do so would be like someone say 'don't eat cookies' for no big reason and then you say 'well I was going to have one, but now I'm going to eat all of them!'

I would just say don't do it (which seems like the consensus anyways so I'll shut up now...lol

Truthfully, I think this discussion that the mentally ill are a bigger problem than guns is more offensive and idiotic than video games making people into killers. Japan's library was way more intense than anything we have mainstream in the west, and they're criminal statistics are a pamphlet to our phone book. This is also a perfect example of the lack of personal accountability out there.

Not intentionally.

I'll probably sleeping off our "End of the world" party the night before.

When/if I do get up, I'll be playing Amnesia: The Dark Descent, seeing as how I've been meaning to for like a year.

I probably wouldn't have because I don't really play "shooters" to begin with

I suppose I can dust off my Xbox and that copy of Halo I never gave back to my co-worker and pretend to enjoy it out of spite for 30 minutes.

You can do it! I did it, and I'm a shootaholic. Believe in yourself. :)

NOTE -WE ARE NOT BLAMING VIDEO GAMES!
GamerFitNation Inc's CEO Antwand Pearman is calling for a ?DAY OF CEASE FIRE" on all online shooters on Friday, December 21st, 2012. We ask for Gamers to show their support for the families of those who lost their lives in the tragedy that took place in a Connecticut's Sandy Hook elementary school Friday, December 14, 2012.
It's not about blaming video games or taking responsability, it's simply about sending a message, and I see absolutely nothing wrong with that, just as I wouldn't if someone was running a marathon for charity. And yeah, I'm doing it. I'll be playing some "Batman: Arkham Asylum".
If they're not "blaming video games", or even just tacitly accepting the framing that "violent video games contributed to this atrocity", then I have a question:

Why is it limited to shooter games?

I will be definitely playing games that day. As far as I see it, it's another stab at violent games. It may not seem like it, but then again there is no reason why it's just gamers that should stop their fun. Just some jerks yet again taking advantage of these tragedy's to push their own agenda. How about they show their respect by sending some money to them, at least that would be useful.

It would have made more sense to ask the whole of the USA not to use any guns at all that day, not that I agree that's right either.

I just downloaded the Serious Sam 3 DLC and haven't gotten around to playing it yet- so no, I probably won't be avoiding shooters tomorrow. I have a giant Scrapjack to kill.

It depends on what I feel like playing on Friday. I'll play whatever I'm in the mood to play.
