To all wrestling fans here on the Escapist (not that many, but still...):

A thread for discussion about the upcoming WrestleMania XXVII.

Some discussion topics:

What match are you looking forward to the most? The least? Opinion on the matches and storylines this year? Who do you think will win?

While I'm not a wrestling fan in anyway. I do go up to my cousins on Sundays and he's a big, big wrestling fan and I will be watching it with him. Not sure who's fighting, though I'm hoping that John Cena loses which ever fight hes fighting (he's going to be fighting its inevitable , he's in ever event I've had to endure... I really don't like him or at least the character).

I'll probably grab a few beers and enjoy the show. Don't know too much about the stories. Haven't been following it consistently since the 90's. However, given that I tend to spend time on the weekends with my cousin, I do often see the big main events. Again, not a big fan, I find the matches to be predictable, the acting and stories to be silly and a lot of the fans to be dim witted and obnoxious (which the same could easily be said about the fans in my preferred sport (I say sport begrudgingly as Pro-wrestling isn't a sport) MMA and such). However what I do enjoy are the acrobatics, the stunt work. Its one big stunt show and that is enjoyable and I can see why that is appealing. Though its cringe worthy when your around adults who think its real (not the moves (least not most of them) you can't fake dropping off a 50 foot ladder infront of a live audience. Just the plots and the outcomes (along with the actual fighting)).

So yeah I'll be watching WrestleMania. Hope its a good one and I hope Cena loses instead of being the boring invincible hero guy.

Will say that I enjoyed the last ROYAL RUMBLE. Though I did spend most of the time taking the piss out of it, mainly for the fact that I noticed most wrestlers seems to enter the ring with God Mode on for a few seconds before it fades and they get there arses kicked... Almost as if they'd run into an invisible gold star on the way down, even started chanting the tune from Super Mario :D.

Haven't really kept up with wrestling as of late, and won't be watching 'Mania this year, but I am betting The Undertaker wins. Again. Safe bet? Probably. Do I care? Nope. :p

In deed, I notice he wins every year and as done for what 15/16 or something like that. If you ask me, that makes it really, really boring. You know he's going to win so theres no tension. Would be nice if they finally just have him lose his spree. Though I imagine hes a real fan favorite and they'd probably lose a good chunk of there fan base if that happened.

Actually, Mark (Undertaker) is really close to retirement.
He's just recently been cleared by doctors to wrestle.
The man is 46 years old and only just last year suffered a concussion/orbital bone fracture.
I'm leaning towards him maybe losing this year, and then going on a very, very long hiatus.
Or maybe we'll have to wait until next year...

Yeah I know all that (the bone fracture and his real name... as said, spend way too much time watching a show I have no interest in so I've picked these things up) I hear is an okay guy in real life (wife cheating aside) however I've just gotten bored of seeing his character constantly win it.

Though maybe you right, maybe hes starting to get too old and broken for this shit. So maybe he'll retire or just take a much smaller role in it all, sort of like Ric Flair and Vince McMahon (or however you spell it).

I'm gonna watch it for The Rock

Because he's the The Rock! The Great One! The People's Champ! The jabroni beating, pie eating, trail blazin', eyebrow raisin', step of the breaks, put on the gas, ready to come here and whip some candy ass!

The matches I want to see (Cody/Rey, Sheamus/Bryan) are going to get less time than a match with Snooki. SNOOKI.

Rhodes/Mysterio should be a great match, so should Bryan/Sheamus. I couldn't care less for Lawler/Cole or HHH/'Taker.

Here's my predictions:

- Kane, Show, Santino, and Kofi def. The Corre
- Sheamus def. Daniel Bryan (saying that name still leaves a dirty taste in my mouth.)
- Cody Rhodes def. Rey Mysterio
- John Morrison, Trish Stratus, and Snooki def. Dolph Ziggler and LayCool.
- Randy Orton def. CM Punk
- Alberto Del Rio def. Edge
- Jerry Lawler def. Michael Cole
- John Cena def. The Miz
- The Undertaker def. Triple H

It's fake, winners are booked in advance,
Hey, then think of it like a fight scene from a movie...

But with fake egos and silly dialogue.

Which I see as entertaining. :)

The match I wanna see has to be Jerry Lawler vs Michael Cole. I have wanted Cole to get his comeuppance for a very long time, and it's finally gonna happen.
Undertaker vs Triple H, I get the feeling he's gonna win this year, go away for a long time and lose next year's Wrestlemania. It would make sense since 20 is a big milestone.
Cena vs Miz (wait a second, wasn't Cena a contender for the WWE Championship last year too?),
I pray to God that Cena loses horribly. I don't care how, I just hope he loses.

My friends bought it but I can't go over and watch it since it's on early early early in the morning here in the UK and I have to get up early tomorrow, oh well.
