The title says it all.. anyone else got it?

On the whole I think it's a great album, it's different from what they've done before and songs such as Cyanide and The Unforgiven III are great songs, all in all 2 thumbs up i'd say.

Anyone else's views?

(I am aware torrenting is naughty and after sampling this album I have every intention to buy it since it is definately worth the monies).

First post by the way, hello chaps.

Yo.

Not heard the full album yet, only the couple of previews that were floating around on GooTube. I'll probably incur a lot of fan wrath here but I'd be a lot happier once the other three take Lars Ulrich outside and shoot him several times in the head. It's evident in "My Apocalypse" that he doesn't have a clue, he just bangs the drums randomly well out of sync with the rest of the band.

Interested to see what Unforgiven III sounds like, as Unforgiven I is probably my favourite 'tallica track, and they really screwed the pooch with Unforgiven II.

I haven't gotten around to listening to it yet, but a friend of mine (who has never been very big on Metallica) said it was pretty good.

I think it's a great album, almost like modern Metallica should be if you ignore the Loads and St Anger (not that i hate any of those albums). Theres a lot of good riffing going on and Kirk's lead-work is great once again, I was a bit disappointed not to hear a bass-solo in that long instrumental though, unless i'm completely deaf and there is one.

Lars gets a lot of stick nowadays for being a sub-par drummer, sure he was once great and after the Black album era he went sour but he is in his forties now, and I don't think he's out of sync at all, just uses the same patterns over and over.

At least this isn't Blabbermouth, there'd be instantly a thousand posts with people that say they hate Metallica but can't help but read every single news post about them and post something.

Man, I love Unforgiven II, crunchy riff, sweet solo, what's not to like?

I'm not touching DM with bittorrent I think, I'll just go purchase it. For a change.

I saw them when they did the Reading festival recently, and they played Cyanide. I thought it was pretty good.
Although this does raise a moral question...do I download it now or spend money on it?

I was at Leeds and also thoroughly enjoyed it. One question though, did they play Battery? They didn't at Leeds and I was sorely disappointed...

My advice is: Download now and buy later, this way you can totally judge for yourself if it's worth the money, and if you think it is you can support the band you love.

And on a note about Lars Ulrich: Personally I don't care how well you can play (IE Joey Jordison of SlipKnot's ability) to me what is important is your material.

Sure, alot of people could easily Play Master Of Puppets, Battery, One, and Ride The Lightning, BUT Lars created those drum lines, and for me that earns him lots of brownie points.

Maybe it's just me, but I would turn gay for Lars. Oh yes.

Hehe, the term "Crunchy" always makes me chuckle, reminds me of the hippies from that Southpark episode.

Just heard Unforgiven III now. Certainly not a bad track, but it doesn't sound Unforgiven-esque enough, if you get me.

Hopefully this album will grow on me. Then again, I kept saying exactly that about Saint Anger and it never happened..

The screams of children being mutilated with rusty chainsaws would sound better than St. Anger.
Oh god, thats a good one

I've been a Metallica fan since I could walk. (Past 20 years.) From their Kill Em All album, all the way through to the upcomming Death Magnetic and everything in between.

First off, I prefer their early stuff. Up until And Justice For All... I doubt it will ever be surpassed musically - in my view. It's as good as music can possibly get. However, their other albums, The Black Album, The Load's, Garage Inc, S&M, and St.Anger - I have also loved.
All in different ways. It irratates me when people say any of their albums are 'bad' or that Metallica is 'dead.'
I saw them in Dublin a few weeks ago, and they are just as powerful as they ever were. Tens of thousands of people would agree. They were simply awesome.

Compared to Metallica at their best, it's fair to say they aren't hitting their potential - but what do you expect; albums like MoP, KeA, AJFA, and RTL - are just amazing. The fact they created 4 albums of this quality amazes me enough as it is.

They have changed styles throughout their careers. Load and Reload were a different style to The Black Album, which in turn was slightly different to their first albums. S&M, in my view is pure brilliance. Encorporating an orchestra into such songs, in a way that actually boosts and enchances the sound of those songs, I didn't think possible. Listen to Battery from S&M and try not to be captivated. They created two new songs for that occasion too.

St Anger, is a tough topic. I personally enjoyed it. Again Metallica went in a different direction from before - and think how many bands have released loads of albums, of the same style of music. It gets stale...and it gets predictable. In a word, it gets boring.
St Anger, although not as strong as their previous albums, to me is still a great album compared to pretty much 90% of bands out there.
It is only as critically scrutinised because it was made by Metallica.

From the songs I've heard from Death Magentic, I'm very excited. Metallica seems to be heading back to it's roots, whilst encorporating parts of each of the other albums too at the same time. Heavy songs like The Judas Kiss, mixed in with the Unforgiven 3. This could be one of their best albums. I can't wait. :)

Well, I heard the first single "The Day that Never Comes" and I thought it was great.

I have high hopes for this album now.
