Hi ^^
Not targeting at anyone, just decided to make my first post.
Any way, I've been playing WoW since Beta testing, up to now (Almost 5 years) and decided to look at it from a ditherent point of view having people commenting on it.
For me WoW isn't an addiction as I say to myself, but just something to do during my free time, pritty sure "thats everyone's case" ^^. My characters /played is 220d 12h ; 55d 21h ; 11d 8h and 7d 5h, only 4 which are worth noting, and so I figured that this chair has been lifting my behind for almost a year playing just one game. Big grats to the chair's (they keep braking). Aside from WoW I normaly engaged my Real Life as if it realy is just a time killer, but still, paying and playing for WoW for more than 4 years, Is it realy that good?
I guess at this point the quantity of opinions is equal to people alive on the planet, but that's not the point. The thing is that Blizzard made games have caught my attention starting off with Starcraft which I saw in my 7th year (12 years ago) and I was incredebly amazed from that point forward. Then ever since I've heard that WoW will come out, it was my dream to start playing it at my best. When beta came out, I had a sample of what the World of Warcraft is, it tasted just like in my dreams, and it was good. At that point I didn't even wanted to think of doing anything else. It basicly consumed all my time and my parents patience with no regret.
Time passed, and like all good things (or games) had to come to an end, I started to think too much about anything but WoW just because it stopped grabbing my attention as it used to. For better or worse I still kept on playing WoW just because I really didn't have anything else to do (shows the lack of interest in things but games), and since it still had a decent touch, I still had no regret.
Fortunatly, before finishing gymnasium, I pritty much got completely bored of it and quit it for half a year to study properly. Finished succesfuly and finding out about all the big and small things I've been missing out on, I slowly crawled back in again. Happy reunion with the people I knew but never actually saw in life and my good old main character.
And so, up until now I casualy play the game, go out with people and do what not, but again for better or worse WoW still takes up most of the time. Not a detailed but still a story about me and the World of Warcraft. Have you got one to tell? Lets hear it!
Hi. My nickname is Ardenon, and I'm a WoW addict.

EDIT: Thanks for all the replies, opinions and confessions, I'm sure theres something to learn from this :p

Dang mate, that's a lot of wow. I haven't played it, because I was frankly, worried about something like this happening to me.

Did the demo as a Nelf hunter, then as a Tauren druid. Then I stopped. Also, take note: While sloppy writing does not invariably mean sloppy thinking, we've generally found the correlation to be strong -- and we have no use for sloppy thinkers. If you can't yet write competently, learn to.*

I actually just genuinely don't like WoW. I prefer other MMOs. I got into the Lord of the Rings Online one for a while.

I ended up leveling from 3 or 4 to 20 in one sitting.

No bathroom breaks.

No food.

No water.

FINAL DESTINATION.

Something to do in free time, yeah...
Well, I happen to have a lot of free time.
I've been playing for 3 years, really thinking I should quit sometime soon.
Before it takes up too much of my life. All I ever really do is play WoW.
There are different kinds of players though, some who can play WoW,be on for a reasonable amount of time then stay off of it.
And then there's players like me... Who find nothing better to do with life other than play their 80 druid, (or whatever other character...) After I get home from school. To right before I fall asleep.

For those who find themselves easily addicted to games.
I suggest you stay far away from WoW if it already hasn't consumed you.

I never saw the appeal of WoW, honestly. It was OK to play with friends from real life, but otherwise it was boring, tedious, dull, repetitive, and it felt so unpolished and uninspired.

Give me my Guild Wars over WoW any day.

I was pretty addicted to Everquest 2 back in freshman and sophomore year. Everyday I would think about it constantly at school, get home play it for the rest of the day, then goto bed. All my school breaks where pretty much playing it and not doing much else. I swore MMOs off after that because I felt I should have more of a life. Truth be told, I tried to get one and pretty much failed. I don't relate to most people or even try to, therefore I don't have many friends, and enjoy being by myself. Really MMO's were a good way for my to be alone while still having some social contact. It's pretty sad that I look back on my EQ2 days as some of the happier times during high school.

Also, I joined the Military and ended being stationed at a base with nothing to do within 2 hours(I don't have a car yet) and I work from 2 p.m - 12 a.m on M-F. Not much to do and I'm incredibly bored a lot of the time. I think once Aion goes live I'm going to give it a shot. I guess my point is MMO addiction isn't necessarily bad unless it's hampering your real life responsibilities or bringing you down emotionally(makes you feel like your missing out on life). However, I am going to try and balance it more this time around, not actively rejecting every invitation to do something just to play the game.

I've been playing WoW since beta as well, and I have around 450 days played across my 4 or 5 notable characters.

The game really isn't what it used to be, but I still find it fun logging on to do heroic runs or the occasional casual raid. I used to be a pretty hardcore raider, and I'm still a member of a US Top 10 guild, just sort of retired when I realized how shitty Blizzard's new raid design team is. hard modes? No, thanks.

Honestly if it weren't for my amazing guild and the incredible ridiculous amount of time and effort I have thrown into my characters, I would have quit the game already.

Agreed. Played Wow once and it was meh at best. Mind you, Guild Wars has the same grinding levels but I like the community more. Overall I take guild wars's free online play over Wow decadent fess anyday.

I suddenly think that my WoW addiction isn't so bad compared to the 200+ days played... Thanks for making me feel better about myself!

I've played wow for year then stopped because of exams. I knew that if i had the possibility of playing wow then i would do so, just so not to revise. Then after exams other games caught my attention such as oblivion, little big planet and so forth. WoW is seriously addctive, i have a friend that will sit there all day and play, she did it through exams too and got a shock this summer. WoW needs a warning sticker haha

I went through the 10 day free trial, played it for a bit, got bored around day 6, and haven't touched it since. You can preach p2p to me all day long, but call me old fashioned--I like to know who I'm playing against, and much prefer co-op or couchside multiplayers that allow me to have ever so much more fun. Sure, it's nice and all, if you're into that kind of thing, but really...I'm not. Never have been. MMO's in general just don't do it for me, which kinda sucks, since most games seem to be shifting towards that direction.

In other news, how about Catacalysm? Can't wait personally.
Been playing WoW since 2005, had many breaks here and there but its still the game I keep coming back to, not so much for the gameplay anymore but the community and the people I know.

I've also played WoW for over three years, I simply got bored of it once I'd gotten to 80 and raided for a while.

Also, I think most people define addiction a bit too loosely. Addiction = you have serious trouble getting through the day without it. That never happened to me atleast. I played it quite a lot, but it wasn't like I couldn't do something else, it was just a really fun game that I'd rather be playing than some other game.

Edit: I'm kinda looking for a new MMORPG, but Warhammer Online seems to be dying and Aion looks kinda... strange.

I'm very fit, honestly :p
It's just most of the time I lean on the arms or the back way too much and too often to the point where they just crack, so that was the only problem.
And, as a side note, I'd really appreciate if people would post here according to the topic, not how bad my writing or paragraphing is :S
I know I'm not perfect, then again, who is? :)
