Nah i don`t think u`re a bad person..ppl who play wow are ussually funny and that helps alot with relationships..and meeting new people..and belive me..sex is a better addiction then WoW, alcohol and smoking..
I don't drink nor smoke and don't go around women with a light attitude :)
But I guess something has to make up for that, which is the point of the topic <_<
Problem about sex is personal moral issues + good quality sex (relationship wise for me) isn't that easy to come by for me, nothing more than that I guess

I've already clocked up 41 days of Street Fighter IV, and that's only been out since February. So I really don't see why people are so sure it's only MMO's people get addicted to, it could be any game; it's just that you only play one MMO at a time due to the subscription (I assume).

I'm more or less like Ardeon but for guild wars. Got hooked for the free month, then quit due to the excessive grinding, repetetive battles, near invincibility against groups of enemies of your level, and mostly (near) uncostomisable skill set.

So many people equate WoW to a social stigma, and I think therein lies the problem. I refuse to play WoW because I will not pay a monthly subscription fee to play ANY game. I have a girlfriend, I have regular sex, I have a good social life and I go out and enjoy things like golf and concerts. I have a friend who is a WoW player, and I just called him to ask him how much he's played WoW, and he's estimated 150 days, but he has just as much of a social life as I do. You can't judge someone just because they play WoW, and whether it's a waste of time depends on whose time it is.

Just like casual sports are really a waste of time, you do get the physical benefits of it, and you can still accomplish something. WoW is no different, you still get the mental benefits of it, and you can still accomplish something, and both casual sports and WoW can be seen as fun by the people who like them.

To get to have sex with hot chicks you need:
-1 female friend
-Good attitude
-*optional: looks

Talk to the female fried of your femele friend, then with the friend of the other femele friend and so on until you eventually get to a hot one that you like..beeing a friend now, looks don`t matter so much, but personality does..crack a few jokes talk to her..get her to trust/like you..bla bla bla..have sex

I played for about a year, and I got pretty in to it.

I made my own guild, had a warrior and a DK...but the fun stopped there. PvP was more of a chore than fun, and players always seemed to look down on me for "being teh n00bz".

My subscription ran out in June and I've had no desire to pick it back up.

I actually just genuinely don't like WoW. I prefer other MMOs. I got into the Lord of the Rings Online one for a while.

I ended up leveling from 3 or 4 to 20 in one sitting.

No bathroom breaks.

No food.

No water.

FINAL DESTINATION.
That isn't too hard, having done that on numerous toons myself... :p

No, I'm not a WoW addict, but I did get pretty heavily into LotRO over the summer. I leveled a toon from 1 to 54 over the summer, and left it at the end of August for school... Not sure whether to keep going, try Champions Online, or scrap MMOs until next school year/summer.

I thought it was worth mentioning because I never do that stuff.

Played since beta. I play the content through, stop when it gets boring. New content patch usually means I play 2 or 3 nights a week for a bout a month, then it slows and I cancel again til the new content patch. I have 3 80's, 2 of them in the high tier raid gear. I have a degree, a job, a girlfriend, etc. My problem with wow is that it is a time sink. It is impossible to do anything significant in that game in less then 30 minutes. (raid) Organizing 10-25 people to do what they need to do is very time comsuming. I always choose my GF and my job over wow or any video game.

Me being 27 years old and helping my GF pay for medical school and also finishing a second degree slowly helps me justify my wow time.

Cost of a night out 50-75$ per night
Cost of WOW time - 15$ a month for unlimited access.

This is how I break it down. For the cost of a few beers I can spend unlimited amounts of time per month goofing off with people I'd never usually meet and playing games ( which is a huge hobby for me) It's good that some of my best friends also play wow. the ones who dont come over and hang out with all of us. we split a bottle of something and have a great time just hanging out. All for cheaper then the cost of a night out.

To the people who use it as an escape from reality. Please seek help.

I tried WoW, I enjoyed the game, but I simply could not stay. The community in that game is absolutely horrendous. That is the most immature and mean-spirited group of people I have ever come across in online gaming. I switched to Lotro, and it is the perfect balance for me. I play 2-3 hours a day when I have the time. It is easy to lose track of time and end up looking at the clock and realizing it is 2am, been there done that. However, it starts to become a problem the moment you bail on friends/family/commitments to play an mmo.

Hey there Ardenon, nice to have you on our team ^^ What realm do you play on?
I play mainly Horde on Lightbringer. You know it's never truly had the sort of grasp over me that you could call an addiction. I just fucking love it is all :D
Welcome to the Escapist, you're on my good list.

and so I figured that this chair has been lifting my behind for almost a year playing just one game. Big grats to the chair's (they keep braking).
You know I dont play WoW but I have this same problem...
I'm very fit, honestly :p
It's just most of the time I lean on the arms or the back way too much and too often to the point where they just crack, so that was the only problem.
And, as a side note, I'd really appreciate if people would post here according to the topic, not how bad my writing or paragraphing is :S
I know I'm not perfect, then again, who is? :)
Im not exactly fit, but im not obese either... It is the learning back thing, I agree! They just dont design chairs to last for those good long gaming sessions. My chainrs end up being franksteins, with bits drilled in to hold other bits up, parts taken from one chair to fix another... I hate throwing things out unless I reaaaally need to...

Oh one thing you will find on escapist, if your trying to make a point and they see grammer and typing errors they will more or less ignore your point and focus on that instead. Yeah it is spazz I know, I hate it when people do it... I get lazy after writing essays etc so when im on the net I switch my grammer brain off, because god damn it I CBF fixing things for just a forum... It is funny of elitist people get about writing skills on the internet...

Ah well I play on a Russian server ??????????? (I typed it in ??'s because in Preview its something much worse and the server is translated as Borean Tundra) and, well, umn, Alliance.
When I came to my first day to work, I met a colleague who also played WoW, we started to chat and the control question he asked me before continuing was "Horde or Alliance?" with a good sense of humor he asked that whether hes going to beat me to a pulp or not :p

If you're addicted to WoW you might as well kill yourself as you are no benefit to society except you waste power and food.

Give me my Guild Wars over WoW any day.
I miss guild wars soo much.

I had a guild wars character and currently a Blood elf Warlock on WoW.

I like both games but guild wars is better.
