Let's see... If my older sister is any indicator, Portal would be too scary for her. (She didn't like the cold, stark, science-y atmosphere. Oy.) The game that my sister got addicted to was Golden Sun, so it'd probably be that. I have Pokemon too, but she found that boring. She goth through Phoenix Wright, but didn't enjoy it as much as Golden Sun. I assume the same would apply to Hotel Dusk. She enjoyed Professor Layton though. Everything else is either too hard, too scary, too violent for their tastes, or requires me to lose all my save data.

Super Mario Bros 1 for the NES.
Here's why.
1. VERY simple controls. It's a lot easier to tell someone the controls for a NES game/controller than the monstrosity the controllers have become these days. Seriously, I have NO idea how people start gaming today.
2. Very simple gameplay to learn. You jump on goombas/koopas. Kick koopas. Jump over holes. And... Beat the level. I know there's like three more things, but still. Simple. K.I.S.S.
3. It's addictive & fun.
4. She actually knows what mario is.
*cough* Uh actually... *cough* ...I could never beat that game... I always die very embarrassing deaths...
