This is why I advised people not to buy the 3DS at launch and wait a bit.
A bit? I'd say more like... forever.
He means for people who were going to buy it in the first place.

Buying any sort of computer-based machine at launch like this is usually a mistake IMO.

Haha, to the people that actually wanted a 3DS I mean :p

I'll end up getting one in years to come when its nearing the end of its cycle and if i can get it cheap etc.

I don't see how this will be able to dethrone the DS until then with people.

It doesn't seem to be doing that well, really. Will be interesting to see what happens.
Well I had no idea it even launched until I checked earlier. I don't think it's out in Australia yet so that's probably why I didn't realize.

I just lol at the fact that people are essentially buying it to replay 64 games. Apparently that was supposed to impress me...

What a surprise!
With all the bells and whistles that my 3DS has, and the fact that it is still brand new, I am really ok if this is the only technical problem I have with it.
At least it doesn't break down in the middle of a manditory update and erase all of my shit *cough*PS3*cough*

Because I remember thinking: "Ocarina of Time is okay and all, but what it really needs is 3D!"
Hahaha, exactly man. I don't see how any of these games would be better with the gimmicks. People keep telling me it isn't a gimmick because it's real 3D and blahblah, then I ask them how exactly it benefits the actual game mechanics and get a blank stare. Oh well, if you're into it I suppose, I'm anxious to try one out for a little while but I can't imagine rushing out to buy one.

Thankfully, the issue only seems to be affecting a small number of units, though it's a little weird that this issue has only popped up during the European launch (it hasn't been reported in Japan or North America).
I can safely assume that every poster complaining about Nintendo sucking for this glitch is an idiot.
Oh you shut up n00b!
I'm going to go play my new Xbox 360 that I had to buy because my 4th 360 just RROD'd.
Wait...

This is why I always wait at least a year after a console has been released before acquiring it because they usually fix most of the problems with the console by then.

Agreed. But what's with calling it the "Black screen of death?" It's a prompt to reset the system. The name given sounds like an intentionally incendiary means of evoking the "Blue screen of death" that means your PC has just become a paperweight.

Either way, I bet it won't result in a >50% failure rate :)

errors on a nintendo system? thats weird, of all the console makers nintendo has always been noted for having the most reliable hardware
Shit.

My original Game Boy will still play games...No fancy trick required. Batteries + Game = GO!

I thought that Nintendo's biggest issue ever was the fucking cracks in the DS Lite, to my knowledge. And that's not hardware, that's design flaw.

Oh well. I'm not getting one from awhile, so hopefully the issue will be fixed.

What kind of cracks??

Also I never would have seen this one coming.

as a fan of the 3ds, i have to agree with you. so far there has been nothing added to the gameplay by the 3d. and gameplay is, was and always will be the most important thing.
looking forward to see what games it will have in future, the launch lineup being pretty meh.
