Okay so I got some moneys laying around and I want to use to buy some games off steam. But theres a couple of questiongs I want to ask and you guys are nice and clever so I'm sure you won't mind helping a idiot like me out.

1. Can I just but some money on to my steam account? That way I don't have to keep whiping out the credit card each time I make a purchase.

2. How good are the steam weekend deals and when do they start and end?

3.Can I use my steam account to install a game on any computer?(stupid questiong and I'm sure the answer is yes but just want to be 100% sure)

EDIT: Thanks for the help guys, I really apperciated. Umm so this thread can now be about how much we love steam! Or some game suggestions, I'm putting in 40$ and my computer is a little slow so no games at cyris level graphics.

1. Not quite, you can buy cards, which are sort of like game time cards or phone cards. Can use these instead of the old credit card but that's about it. (Edit: Failed to mention that Steam saves your CC info, added for clarity :p)

2.Usually they're very good, starting Friday finishing Monday usually if I remember correctly (I live in the UK so it may be slightly different elsewhere I have no idea)

3.Yup. As long as you install steam and log in with your account you can play the games on any machine anywhere, just gotta download them :p

The answer is no, amazing and yes.

The steam deals will blow your mind. For example my favourite system they have for the stalker series is for every game in the series i own i got 10% off any other game i buy from the same series. Fantastic. I got halflife one for a single penny. I also got stalker for 4 quid and various other games basically for free. Other games literally ARE free, like alien swarm. Steam is fantastic and jaw droppingly cheap. I dont even know how they do it.

1: there are no "steam points as far as I'm aware. As for dumping cash into a resevior... Maybe pay pal?

2: steam weekend deals start on the weekend, and they are definitely deals.

3: indubitably

1. You have the option to save your credit card information so whenever you make a purchase the information will be already on the page except for the 3 number confirmation code.

2. They're pretty decent. I got both Left 4 Dead 2 and Call of Duty 4 in one weekend deal at a very cheap price(Still, fuck the 1 Euro = 1 Dollar bullshit). Also, weekend deals. Think for a second. If they're weekend deals then when can they end?

3. Yes, as long as you have Steam installed on that computer. If you bought a game that uses Steam from a retailer then Steam will be installed automatically on that computer whilst installing the game. However, once you activate your product with Steam you can download the installation kit on any computer as long as you have Steam installed so you don't have to carry the DVD with you.

1) I don't think that's an option, but Steam does store credit card information so you can save time.
2) I'm afraid I can't help you with that part--I only have 4 games and I'm not in the habit of buying.
3) This is clearly a question relating to the Steam Cloud, but since I only have one computer, I can't help.

BTW, my Steam ID is "conchshellthegeek7" if you're interested.

Grab Alien Swarm or something free from it to see how it works.

All the questions have been answered so I'll just put the suggestion here, and confirm the deals are fucking amazing.

1. No. EDIT: Yeah, as mentioned above Steam does however save your credit card info.

2. I bought both STALKER games for 9.99, so yeah, some of the deals are amazing.

3. I haven't tried this, but I believe you can, you'd most likely just have to install steam on the different computer and log into the new one, although, I haven't actually tried this one myself, so no promises, kay?

The big steam sales have been winter and summer holidays and they are the best. Weekly/weekend deals are just about good enough to keep you checking the steam store but forums like this normally have the best ones posted.
