This is mostly directed at vegans and vegetarians, but feel free to think along if you're not.
I don't mean to be inflammatory but I have a few questions.

If you have children, do you force them to follow your diet ?
Would you tolerate your children eating meat if they wanted to ?
Would you prepare meat for them if they wanted to eat meat ?
Should they be given a choice to eat meat or not ?
Did you ever introduce meat into their diet to see if they would like to eat it ?
If one of your children wanted to buy a leather jacket would you let them ?

If you don't have children yet what would you do if and or when you do have them ?

I guess all I'm really asking is if you would give your children the same choice you made and how would you react if they chose differently ?

Let me finish by saying I'm totally okay with your choices and I don't want to convince you of anything or persuade you away from your lifestyle.
I do still eat meat and use animal products, I'm sorry if this makes me a bad and or evil person in your opinion.

Pro-choice, all the way. Forcing something on someone is never right.

That said I have no experience in the field...

Good question. And not at all inflammatory. Thank you for that; some people really suck at not being flame-y when it comes to vegetarianism/veganism.

I think I would allow them to make the choice. But if my partner (I'm not raising children alone) was a vegetarian as well (which isn't a necessity), I'd probably only cook vegetarian meals for the family purely for the sake of convenience. The kids could go elsewhere and eat meat if they really wanted. If my partner wasn't, I'd probably cook some vegetarian meals for everyone, but mostly do my own thing at mealtimes.

I'd hope my kids would be vegetarians, but I understand that it is a personal choice. I don't force it on my friends or my partner; I don't know how I could rationally treat my children any differently in this regard.

In any case, I don't want children for multiple reasons, so I should avoid this issue.

First two questions are bascially the same. I dont intend to have children. I would probobly get myself some puppy rescue instead. Nonetheless, i wouldn't want to force my children to eat what i eat.

Would you prepare meat for them if they wanted to eat meat ?

I would cook them whatever assured them with the nutrition value they need and if the excludes solely vegetarian products then so be it. Its a question of responsibility.

Should they be given a choice to eat meat or not ?

Thats just the first question all over again! o_O

Did you ever introduce meat into their diet to see if they would like to eat it ?

Not if there were no such need.

If one of your children wanted to buy a leather jacket would you let them ?

Depends on the age.

I would never force my hypothetical kids or my partner to follow my diet. I live the way I do because it's my choice. I would have hated it if my parents had put meat on my plate every day when I didn't want to eat it.

Then again, the meat substitutes I eat now taste so good and so much like real meat that it's probably not even an issue. If my kids liked the imitation meat, then they would be getting a good amount of protein, and it would be easier for me to cook. But if they wanted to eat chicken one night, I would say sure. I respect other people's diets, just like I want mine to be respected.
