Been playing Everquest 2: Extended (the free to play one) and I like what i've seen, but I just need to ask some questions about the game before i suscribe to it. (Already googled these questions and found nothing)

1) Do Everquest 2 and Everquest 2: Extended use the same servers?

2) If I were to buy the new version of Everquest 2 (the big compilation pack thing thats been put on steam recently) and suscribed to that, would I get all of the classes and races, or would i have to still buy them seperatly?

3) What is the endgame content like? (E.G Is it mostly PVE or PVP based, and is it fun?)

4) I haven't yet been able to access the player housing feature (Still stuck in a starter area lol), is it an intuitive feature, and does it feel rewarding?

5) Is this going to be a game I will be able to play for the next few years without getting bored.

Thank you for reading,

I spent about 5 years playing EQ2, and though I've recently kicked the habit, I can probably answer most of your questions...

1. This is tricky, since I quit before Extended got put out. Far as memory serves, no.

2. Yes, you should get everything. None of the races or classes need unlocking - that only happened the once with the Frogloks. If you get the latest version, everything will be open to you, plus the game has regular patches and updates anyway, which you'll get automatically.

3. Endgame raiding is all PVE. I raided in a top end guild for 4 of my 5 years, and the fact I did it for so long tells you at least something about how enjoyable it is. I did find though that as the newer expansions came out, some (not all, but some) of the raids felt like a grind - constantly bashing your head against the same mob over and over and over and over and... Yeah. That. PVP play is available, but you'll need to be on a specific server to do the serious stuff. Otherwise there's PVP via Battlegrounds, which takes you and your buddies off to a special zone.

4. Housing is what you choose to make of it. I've seen peoples houses that are wonderfully decorated, and others where people had just filled it full of crap. There's different house sizes and styles available though, depending on where you choose to live.

5. Well I did. :) Mainly I quit because raid times began at 6.30 and I wasn't home from work till almost an hour after that. Couldn't keep it up. But it's a big world, more adult than WoW, and it does get updated a lot. So there was always something to do, and when you add in alts and playing through as a different race/class... Kept me occupied for a good while.

Thank you for clearing that up for me, I think I may well buy EQ2 now :)

Im currently a WoW player and well, Im getting fed up with it. I enjoyed my time on it and it was a good game but, I no longer get satisfaction from playing it.

EQ2, here I come! :)

Best not to buy it if you haven't already, Everquest 2: Extended is totally free (to start anyway) but different from pay(Live) servers. If you have a good internet connection you can get the streaming version and be playing in a few minutes and see what it's about.
