I have to ask... are you the distressed watcher, or have you just ripped off one of his videos?

I'm not the Distressed Watcher, no... but I haven't really heard of him...

EDIT: Yes, I did come to the same conclusions as he did, but I have never seen that video before today. I don't really go to TGWTG much.

The first two points are the main reason I didn't want to see it. I got the impression that all of the video game references were incredibly light ones that usually appear in most films and movies. You know, the ones made by people that have clearly spent little time actually playing games. For some reason these light references just annoy me. The second point is the much bigger one; I hate Michael Cera.

Reason 5: It opened the same time expendables did so every one went to go see that craptastic movie instead of a good movie which I hope to buy as soon as its on dvd

While I sgree with reason 2, I would have to say there is another reason that goes along the lines of 3&4, atleast for me. I actually paid $8.50 at my local theater to see this movie, and left the theater half-way through because I couldnt stand it. ITs the same reason I dont like the comics, as much as I enjoy videogames, it was almost like it was trying to hard to fit as many VG references in as possible, and it annoyed me because of that. If I was 10 years younger, I may have enjoyed it, but it was to nonsensical now (im 22). I actually felt embarressed watching SP.

I'm most inclined to side with your second point. I really, really can't stand that kid, and I don't think I've actually seen him in anything apart from the trailers and ads for his movies. His parts strike me as one-note affairs. I think he's going down the same road as Megan Fox, albeit in a geeky, more protracted fashion.
That's a really good point. And to be honest, I didn't even see Juno. The best I've seen Cera do is Superbad, and that was one of the dumbest movies I've ever seen.

the reason i didn't see it is because it is hard to get a ride to see it because it is half an hour away and because my friends wanted to see inception. i plan on renting it though

This really felt like a 00s film. I honestly couldn't imagine this in the 90s at all. Those of us that fondly remember 8 and 16 bit gaming are in our 20s now. This culture didn't exist in this way in the 1990s. There are conversations in Scott Pilgrim I can imagine and have had with friends. We do play instruments, go to shows, play video games and fight super powered vegans.

When is the DVD coming out? Thanksgiving?

I dunno man that movie was one of my favorites. It was much better than a lot of the movies I've seen this year

It was a niche movie. If you got it, you probably loved it. My little brother was too young for it but he appreciated the action sequences and the few jokes that he could appreciate, and my dad appreciated the special effects and acting but wasn't particularly taken with the gaming culture themes. Being a music geek of the right age group who happens to play video games, I found it to be one of the best movies that I've ever seen. It's all a matter of taste, and the film happened to be made for people with a very particular set of tastes.

Reason 1: Expendables out the same week.

Reason 2: Geeky is not mainstream.

Those feel like more important reasons to me.

I can't stand Michael Cera either. He has one dimensional roles. He's always the lovestruck kid chasing some girl the entire movie. I refuse to see it because of the fact he's in it. I've had to sit through a few of his movies because friends wanted to see it instead of something actually GOOD.

Let's all boycott Michael Cera!

I WAS gunna give it a go; despite hating the lead actor, but I decided to see Inception; PS. AMAZING movie.

The ads for it absolutely sucked. I was watching random YouTube videos with a friend about a month ago and a Pilgrim ad was before the video, and he commented that it looked horrible. However, I made him read the graphic novels, and he loved them. He hasn't seen the movie, but now he really wants to.

Me and a bunch of my friends thought it was the most awesome thing we have seen in a long time. I wouldnt say that we were gamer/geek type people. But just blown away by the fight scenes and some good, quite simply fun moments. Go vegan police!

Im gonna get flamed to hell for saying this... but I liked Michael Cera in the role too. And where I live its getting more well known. I have seen it twice. Once on release day where the cinema was empty and once two weeks later. The cinema was full.

Id agree that the wrong trailer was released. The one I originally saw was the 2 and a half min trailer that would obviously never go on tv. That captured the film. It was great.
All that could be summarised by see: avatar :p
I haven't seen it but I will because there is no harm giving it a go.

There weren't really that many people this movie appealed to. This is the main reason while it failed.

Yes, it's great that projects even with such limited capabilities can even be released these days, but with it's budget and the amount of work clearly put into it, it was a horrendous bomb waiting to happen. And it did.
