Normally, I wouldn't be interested in macs, but it seems my school may be forcing us to pay for macbooks, whether we want them or not. So can someone give me some pros about a macbook, and why I should pay $400 to rent one for 2 years.

"Ok, heres the deal. You have no choice but to buy a Macbook. Yes, thats right. Buy one, or else! Youd better be able to afford it too, dammit..."

In all seriousness, it isnt worth it.

Why do you need some pros if you're being forced?
And why are they forcing you?
To convince myself that it's not all bad, and get extreamely annoyed at the school. Why I am being forced to? I have no idea at all. My school has a habbit of not telling us shit.

Well it comes with an apple sticker on it, so it must be worth an excessive amount of money. /sarcasm

I'm not a big fan of them but I will admit that they do have some good programs. I think that they have some music program (garage band maybe?) but that's about it.

That sucks, sorry I have an Asus laptop. I contemplated getting a Macbook, but it was too expensive.

I'm sorry again, I listed a flaw.
For a pro, well... I know that Macs are considered better for creative tasks, so if you're of a creative mind that should benefit you.

Buy a Macbook Air. Despite its amazing thinness, it manages to fit in a whopping ONE USB PORT!

[sub]CD Drive not included.[/sub]

Bearing in mind that GarageBand is the most worthless music program ever.
Trust me.

And it's only about $1,500! What a steal.
I never understood why anyone would ever buy a Macbook Air.

OT: I do enjoy my Macbook (despite my hatred of the Air). I am very computer illiterate and find that Macs are simpler to use. There are a lot of downfalls but overall it's like the difference between a standard and automatic car. Sure standards are better on gas, control, and are typically faster, but every time you're in traffic, you'd kill for an automatic.

That's exactly what I thought at first... Trouble is, my school doesn't often see reason... Like, at all. I plan to fight it 'till the bitter end, but I was hoping for some cosulation for my almost inevitable defeat... Damn school having a majority of my friends, good subjects and teachers that are geniunely awesome! If it wasn't for that I'd have left... Not a great time to be me...

Hardly. I use it all the time to do quick recordings. It's not the deepest recording software ever, but it's great for someone who just wants to throw a beat loop down, record a line or whatever, then touch up later in a different program.

Like someone said, macs are great for creative purposes.

I prefer them because I usually do more with art and music than with games on my machine. Games on macs = fail.

EDIT: I do find my mac simpler to use than most windows machines I've worked on, but that might be my lack of experience with windows. Once you figure out some of the (I'm loathe to say this) "Pro" features, macs are pretty handy to use.

ummm... they're not a choking hazard for children under 2? if you're ever attacked by hipster fuckheads you can throw it at them and make your escape while they stand around telling each other how awesome it is to be an iDrone? You can kill a chihuahua with one?

and why I should pay $400 to rent one for 2 years.
You shouldn't... unless you can get a full tax rebate for the money. Preferably with added compensation for mental anguish and suffering.

You should also demand your school tell you why you HAVE to have a macbook. Most of their answers will be piss easy to tear to pieces.

I can't give you any pros, for I despise Macbooks in all forms. I can show you this though!

Aaand then you have Linux MultiMedia Studio which does everything GarageBand does better, plus HEAPS more, for an infinitely lower price. <-- Not hyperbole.

What are you getting cramps from? Never had that problem.
Once, I had a job that I would get stuck in terrible traffic for about three to four hours a day. Once in a while, my clutch leg would cramp up something fierce. It was awful.
