The major thing that kinda sucks about PC gaming is no final form factor. Meaning when unlike with a console, when you buy your shiny new PC, you have no real promise of a certain life expectancy of your hardware being considered "current". It's a boon for technical advancements, but it really hurts your wallet when you shell hundreds up to several grand on "the next best thing", only in amatter of months or a few years starts being considered obsolete. I also hate all the hardware issues that comes with the many different hardware setups floating around peoples homes . When I buy a new game I want to able to pop it in and just play. No hardware patches or videocard incompatibility. Console games pretty let me do that, bar maybe a quick update via Xbox Live which is a guaranteed update or fix mind you. Plus, there is simply something to be said for plopping on the couch and whipping out the trusty gamepad for some Halo action or whatever is your preference. Point is, PC gaming is not for everyone, just like the same can be said for consoles. PC gaming may be too expensive or glitchey for someones taste, but that doesn't mean that person is some how less "enlightened" or their taste in gaming less valid or "they just don't know better" compared to the PC diehards. Something to ponder.

I did not hate Halo and still do not. I just hate Halo fans that are ignorant console-tards.
I just was wondering the point of that statement. It seems to me a pretty plain power play that eludes once again that PC players know better then console players. Its amazing I missed it the first time. I wont expound greatly because my above post, but I will say this. I got off the PC gaming train a while ago for many of the above reasons, and I havent the desire to come back. I am a console gamer, and I like it that way. I know a good game when I see one, and the Halo series is good, with Halo 3 still being my biggest XBOX Live diversion still . End rant.

Maybe you could edit the name of the thread, since you created it? What about 'Boring discussion about the Sims 2: Makin' Magic'?

since when did a pc upgrade cost a few grand? my last update was dualcore CPU & MB with a couple of gig of ram and a pretty decent 512 graphics card and another 500gig hard drive and the whole lot for under £400 and that will play all current games as smooth as silk, my pc before that did me for nearly 4 years before the games got too much for it and then it was only crysis i could not make it play (and bioshock was a little 'choppy.')

Ok £400 is still more than a console but the games for the pc are normally a third less on release, hell some are even half price. If you are willing to build your own rig and set up drivers and suchlike properly then the points you make are pretty well moot.

I just think that the xbox players were looking for something they could say was good.
I played the PC version of the Original Halo for all of 30 minutes before uninstalling
and swearing I had wasted a $100.

If is wasn't for the xbox and it had come out just on PC do you really think that it
would have taken off as it has?
I agree because look at Golden Eye for the N64. it changed FPS on console for the better single-handedly. but if I would play that on the pc... at that point quake 2 was out. C'mon definately not in the same standard. PC FPS will always be better because they can focus on the interaction and the gameplay because if it doesn't run on your pc it's your problem and you have to wither get new drivers, patches, or new hardware.

I wasn't saying you have to spend several grand, I said hundreds and up to several grand. The point is the PC constantly upgrades and demands you keep paying out if you want to stay on the very top of new tech, kinda like a demanding girlfriend who keeps raiding your wallet. The upkeep is what annoys me more though. It can be a real pain in the ass keeping things working and compatible, and when it comes to games in particular, I really didn't want the headache any more. So for me I like to have a PC for family photo stuff and maybe the the internet. Im sure Im not totally alone on this, and my points made perfect sense. Besides, these days I even use my PS3 sometimes for basic web browsing, so thats exactly what I mean when I say the PC juxt doesnt have that much of an allure to me. On another note: I dont know what you PC people hope to accomplish, but telling us that Halo sucks compared to X PC title wont change our minds, just as we haven't changed yours. Im bored of debating, I enjoy Halo and that wont change, and you are equally free to dislike Halo if you wish. Lets just put down the torches and pitchforks already. lol

Note: My own father recently purchased a new top of the line Dell XPS that cost him in the neighborhood of 3 grand for a desktop, and this was ordered directly from Dell. This is an example of why I said having the newest tech can cost upwards to that price range. Either way, even a more modest rig will cost you way more then any of the current consoles will cost you.
