My god, Watchmen. I hated the movie. Absolutely hated it. All because I kept pointing out flaws and exaggerations (They do NOT have super strength!). And I called bullshit on the ending. Decent movie, crap adaptation (for me) that ruined it.
I think it's a glass half full/empty thing with that movie, I thought it was a very faithful adaption, I did have a few points where I objected but I managed to supress them down and enjoy. The directors cut is a bit better.

But you realise it could have been much worse, I remembering reading somewhere Synder vetoing some executive pushes to change the film by:
-Cutting the Dr Manhattan and Comedian flashbacks
-Having Nite Owl kill Ozimandas and/or possibly save the day
-Up dating it to the modern day with Iraq being used instead of Vietnam,

Being a fan of the Avengers (especially Captain America) absolutely ruined The Ultimates for me. It's like they took all of the Avengers and put them through a Jackass Machine.
I've never understood this complaint. If the Ultimates characters had of been identical to the originals, it would have been boring and pointless.

Honestly I kind of liked Ultimate Cap, simply because it seemed like there was two personalities, when out of costume he was a polite and old fashioned fish out of water, but in costume he turned into a ridiculous stereotype of the current American political attitude (this was circa Iraq invasion), I almost got the feeling it was an act he put on to deal with the responsibility. Don't get me wrong I prefer original Cap, but he can oftens be written as so perfect it's hard to relate to him.

And it's not as bad as what they did to Hank Pym.

Actually just about every spartan was on Reach. This is stated in the Fall of Reach novel. you are right about them not mentioning Master Chief's team though. And what's wrong with Jun being there?
Jun's a new character, not one taken from the novels.
I know he's not from the novels, but I consider the games canon rather than the novels.

If this post came around two months later I guarantee I'd be here talking about the Green Lantern movie.
I'm tempted to agree. I'm terrified of this movie. It could give (in my opinion) the greatest comic book hero ever a very bad name. The story looks like it's going to cram too much into it (Spider-Man 3 style) and Parallax looks like the Balrog

OT: The King Blues. The band who wrote the masterpiece "What If Punk Never Happened?" could never write shit like "We Are Fucking Angry", could they?! Apparently so, but I'm still going to disbelieve it
Perhaps being so underwhelmed about this movie might make it better to us when we go see it? Like all the hype was such a letdown for Phantom Menace might work in reverse here? Wait. Parallax? I haven't seen anything about him in there. Trying not to look at too much anyway so that might be good.

Hello Escpaist.

Lets get down to it, have you ever been playing a game, reading a book, or watching a movie from a franchise you love, only to be completly taken out of it by your knowledge of the series? Lets say for example, your reading a Batman comic when you just stop and say, "Bullsh*t! The Dark Knight would never do that!"

The most recent one for me has got to be the marine campign for AVP 2010. Speificly the part when:
Teqiula is hived up and wants to be shot. However before the rookie can put a bullet in her head, the android says, "We can remove the parasite with surgery."

My reaction: "Ummmm... no. You can't. We established this, you can't remove a xeno once it's inside it's host. It realises what your trying to do and bursts immediatly."

Another good example is in the end when you, the android and Teqiula are in cryopods, getting off planet.

My thoughts: "Why hasn't Teqiula bursted yet? You can slow the things down in cryosleep, but you can't stop them. And you really can't stop them once they have gotten right to the skin layer. What is this garbage?!"

So anyway Escapist, share your stories.
What are you talking about? Don't they do just that in Alien Ressurection?

Which one? And anyway, the AVP game is set thrity years after ALIENS, Reusserction was set 200 years after ALIENS, so the tech may have changed, but not at the time of AVP.

Halo: Reach until I learned more details about the backstory.

Anyone who hasn't read Halsey's Journal, but did read the Fall of Reach, and then played Reach, will HATE the ending.
Yeah, same thing happend to my brother. After I gave him the first few Halo books to read (especially Ghost's of Onyx), he called bullshit on just about everything in that game.

That's a nice, optimistic outlook, I'm gonna share it. Yeah in the extended, 4-minute trailer, there's a big yellow rock demon thing flying around, I'm almost certain it's Parallax. But how can the cram Parallax into a film that already clearly (and rightly) has Hector Hammond as the main antagonist? Are they also gonna have Parallax possessing Hal and Sinestro's betrayal? Are they going to cram like 60 years worth of canon into one film?!
