Heroes was also pretty bad, it started off original but got stale fast. Same pattern with most TV shows really...Dexter got rubbish by the 3rd season.

Okay, off topic, but I need to ask, what the devil is that song officially called? Because I've heard it called Dragonborn, Song of the Dragonborn, The Following, and Sons of Skyrim.

That is horrifying. Worse is, this wub wub stuff is popular. Really popular. That means that the clubs and bars I previously found bad are now becoming unbearable.

Basically, if you like good music, socialising is becoming harder.
What because until now there was NOTHING like a different taste in music to separate people with different opinions? That is such an overstatement I don't even know how to fix it. If you find it hard to accept people that you like's taste in music then how the hell do you accept anything else in people.

I don't get how music can be horrifying to you? Just because you don't like dubstep doesn't mean its garbage music. Not saying you have to like it but why just flat out say its horrifying and disturbs you and ruins your childhood or whatever?

Hell, wubstep isn't even my favorite genre of electronic but i've been a huge fan of electronic music for well over 10 years so pooping all over my favorite music will make me a little butthurt :(

YOU! You son of a *****, why would you spread that hurtful BS around! Dear god, thankfully I listened to that THING that is the second video first and the actual one after 30 secs of that THING.

There's tons of crap, Some singer who did a cover of AC / DC You Shook Me All Night Long for example, bleh. The Kashmir beat that P Diddy stole for that crap Godzilla movie, anything Glee touches.

There are a few I like though. Like Powerglove.

Also, for some awesome enjoyment.

I wouldn't let it damage your memory of LoZ - its still its same awesome self. This is just someone saying "Know what this needs? Some Umzte, Umzte, Umzte, Umzte". your friends obviously dont even know what LoZ is and thus they cant be fans of it.

If Nintendo had remade its OoT remake on the 3DS with this dubstep version instead of its classic, THEN it would be alright to feel violated. But whatever twat did rip it off, its enough to simply shake your head in disgust and move on =P

Stop it! You are shattering my fragile reality!!!! 4:35 only comes once a day and that's during the afternoon hours. I have to get up around 7:00am sometimes if I'm working in the field and that is pretty horrible. If I'm not in the field I work from home and can sleep as late as I like. If I had to get up at 4:35am on a regular basis for anything I'd just give up, move back into my parents' pool house and start drinking heavily.

I wake up every week-day at 4:35 A.M. I get dressed, brush my teeth, shower, eat some breakfast, browse on the web and watch T.V. until about 5:45ish and then walk to Church for an hour of Early-Morning Seminary. From there I get a ride to school from a friend (with a very awsome 4.6 liter V8 2010 Ford Mustang I might add) and he typically will blast some Rap or R&B or Dubstep, none of these of which I listen too normally (60's Rock n' Roll and Classic Metal for me) and today, he played a Dubstep song that horrified and shocked me to the core.

A song called Hero from an artist that I can't remember (who could anyway with these rediculous names for these "artists") and it was a dubstep rendition of the Hero Of Time... you know... the one theme from Legend of Zelda that you think of EVERY TIME you think of Legend of Zelda.

As soon as the main "chorus" (if you could call it that) started, I recognized it immediately and promptly shouted, as the abominable screech of what sounded like an epileptic transformer tried to convince itself as a piece of music from one of the greatest gaming tracks off all time invaded my ears. "Oh wow! Do you know what this is?" Everyone in the car of course, responded with a quiet no. "This is the Zelda theme! Who would do this?" One of my most nostalgiac and happy memories of my childhood seemed like it was being tortured.

They responded with "I don't know, sounds cool to me."
I replied with a disappointed tone "Really?"

Look, I may be overreacting a bit, I can respect the opinion of one liking this... wub wub... (though it confuses and enrages) and I understand that people do need a way to make a living but this??

*sigh* Anyway, what, Escapists, have you seen that has gone from being something you have loved, to being abused and ripped-off of in this modern generation?
OH NO! Someone took inspiration from a song they enjoyed and remixed it! Oh what gall they have!

/le sarcasm

But seriously if this is te worse thing that's happened to you all day you're pretty sodding lucky. Furthermore despite what you may think "Hero of Time" does not belong to you, it belongs to the various creators and if the artist got permission to sample it from them (which I'm guessing he did) he can do as he wants with it! You don't have to like it, but starting an entire thread to whine about it is childish.

What I hate is the attitude of developers that "We need to remake this product and have it appeal to the new generations." So they poorly copy whatever's popular at the moment and almost none of the original's unique qualities are in it. And if they are, they're suppressed by the modern standards.

I heard of a game series, I'm not sure what it was called, but it was a game like Space Invaders, where you controlled an army on the ground and had to stop invaders from above. I'm not sure what you call that genre, but anyway: They were going to reboot the series as an FPS. WTF IS THIS.

I believe you are talking about this little number.

And trust me, there are worse remixes of Zelda songs. I actually like this one.

This is just poorly done. He basically uses the blandest part of the song for the melody.

Gerudo Valley is a great song, and he uses that little bit to remix? Sloppy, lazy and just horrible.

I came into this thread expecting a revelation about one's life or something of that nature.

Nope, it's just another thinly disguised dubstep hate thread.

Have you even stopped to think about why these remixes are made in the first place? A lot of dubstep artists I know of are also pretty big gamers and they like to pay homage to some of the games they grew up with. What's so bad about that?

I know that feeling, bro.

The original Dragonborn is a near-flawless piece of music, from beginning to end. The other clip is a grotesque mockery of that music. Dragonborn moves me to tears. The other clip moves my bowels. Dragonborn has soul and verve. The other clip has a legendarily creepy leering skid mark of a guy that I would not trust around children.
And yet, somehow, for some reason far beyond my comprehension, people absolutely worship this crap.

But Dragonborn is recent. I can't even imagine how I would feel if I heard what you have. My nostalgia would likely curdle into a big, knotted lump of bitterness that I'll cut out 30 years later as a tumor.
The fuck is that shit?

I'd say that travesty answers OP's question for today; time to go listen to some good music and hope my mind can be purged of that horror.

I'll say I'm not a fan myself, but, I do consider the possibility, that whoever did that dragonborn remix is either very into Skyrim, or at least holds a strong appreciation for the sheer quality of the main theme tune.

Whatever your opinions on dubstep, no music is particularly easy to just churn out in minutes. IF he wanted to make a Skyrim remix, I sense there's been a fair bit of work gone into it, even if, you don't think much of the end result (personally I don't either.)

Just going by the fact that almost no-one here has heard of it, and we're a gaming heavy audience, I'd suggest that this wasn't some mindless cash in designed to make big bank, but a tribute.

Indeed, a lot of electronic music producers nowadays are gamers just like you and me and incorporate a lot of it into their music. Making the music takes just as much work as physical instruments so at least a little respect would be nice. There are seriously no buttons on computers that say "make unce unce unce unce beat" and "wub wub wub button." It's a respectable form of music just as any other and while you may not like it, totally dismissing somebody's own tribute to their favorite video games as crap is just straight ignant dawg.

I know someone who once heard the same remix as OP in a "GAME" store.
He swore to never enter the store again.

I guess I wonder why NOW, of all times, did dubstep (and why dubstep?) gain such mass appeal. It's been widely available and accessible since around 2000, but no one I know has heard of it until last year. It's just frustrating to an old, jaded (and hipsterish) raver like myself that suddenly every bro-dude now sees themselves as a DJ, electronic music scholar and some kind of dubstep connoisseur because they've been listening to "that new dubstep stuff that Skirllex totally invented last year."

And the kicker is I don't even LIKE the majority of dubstep. I was never much of a fan of dub, wobble (as we called it in Toronto) or UK Garage and this just jams them all together. I'll admit I enjoy what chase and status have done in the genre around 2008, which is sort of their own take on it, but most people who "love dubstep more than anything" have no idea who chase and status are and it INFURIATES me.

I realize it's snide of me to feel this way, but try to understand where I'm coming from. Imagine you're a metal head. You've been a metal head for 10-15 years. Suddenly, for some reason, Led Zeppelin's Houses of the Holy inexplicably makes it's way into popular culture and becomes a super huge sensation. Honestly, you preferred Physical Graffiti but whatever.

You go into a club and they're playing Led Zeppelin! Just songs of Houses of the Holy of course. Well, that's cool. A girl comes up to you saying that she's a HUGE fan of Led Zeppelin! "Awesome!", you think. You ask her if she likes their Physical Graffiti album. She quizically looks at you, wondering what the hell you're talking about. "What's that?" she asks. "Did they make another album recently? Wow!". Realization dawns on you: she thinks the band is new, and not only that, but they only have one album.

You look around the room and a sullen, dour expression seeps over your face "They all think that...". You head over to the bar, ready to numb your mind for the coming hours. "At least I still like the music playing." You think as you take a generous helping of beer from your over priced, plastic cup.

Suddenly, two dude-bro types walk up beside you. Tanned skin, banned glasses, and a tight pink shirt with a popped collar. They're in stark contrast to yourself. Long 80s rock hair, proudly sporting your leather Iron Maiden jacket (your favourite metal band), ripped jeans and chains. Seeing you glancing at them, one comes over, half intoxicated to strike up what you're sure will be a compelling conversation. You resign yourself to the fact that this is going to happen, and decide to get it over with.

"Dude" he proclaims, "Why are you dressed like that?". "Well, I thought I'd dress the part. This is a rock club after all, isn't it?". The dude-bro musters the power of the few working synapses in his brain; "Wha? What you talkin' bout, dude? That's not how rockers dress. We all dress like this, we're total rockers you know. We love Led Zeppelin, so trust us; we know what we're talking about." You gland around the room once again, downing your beer as if it will physically stop the string of expletives you want to spew from coming out of your mouth.

Wanting to avoid confrontation, you just aim to get this over with. "Sorry" you say, as genuinely as you can act, "This must just be the way Iron Maiden fans dress." pointing to the back of your jacket.

"Whoa dude, that's a cool logo!" The dude-bro proclaims. "I've never heard of this Iron Maiden band before, are they like Led Zeppelin?" Not having time to explain the intricacies of metal sub-genres and 70 year history of metal and rock you just say "Not quite, they're a different kind of Metal but they drew inspiration from Led Zeppelin." Hoping this satiates his curiosity, you cringe at the next comment "Dude, if they don't sound like Led Zeppelin then they can't be metal!". "I guess you're right" you say, secretly wishing the club was engulfed in flames taking every living soul with it. You turn back to the bartender and order one last drink before you saunter home and weep.

This is what liking electronic music is like now.
