Because people will only respond to the post that quotes them without reading the rest of the topic, obviously. But that clearly wasn't the point I was trying to make.
You probably wouldn't be having this issue if you quoted people in your responses, like everyone else, or do you think people will keep revisiting this thread throughout their day to see if anyone new has posted in it?

I don't see the point in quoting when I'm responding to A) the OP, which everyone is supposed to have read, or B) the post that's right above my reply. If that means that "hit-and-run" posters miss my responses sometimes, I'm totally fine with that.
As you can tell by my join date compared to my post count, I'm not the type of user who just hops from topic to topic trying to get my opinion in everywhere. The fact that "everyone else" posts in a certain way doesn't concern me in the slightest.
It's not merely convention to quote people, it's the practical way of letting people know who you're directing your comment at. If you want to be a free spirit and do things your own way then fine, but don't expect people you respond to to ever reply back, because odds are they haven't even seen your post, and don't get upset if people assume your comment is directed at OP rather than the post directly above yours.
People responded to me in this thread, didn't they? Plenty of them, in fact, even though my posting behavior can't be that alien to anyone who's ever visited a forum besides this one. On top of that, I still quote in any situation besides the two I mentioned above.
If people don't care to read the topic well enough to understand what I'm replying to, they're not going to care what I have to say anyway.

What happens if somebody (or more than one) posts in the mean time? The forums are fairly busy, it's not really hard to happen, especially if you go into a more popular thread.
I just edit the quote in manually, of course. If it's an obviously busy topic, I'll quote the post I reply to right away. If it's not, I don't.

EDIT: I'm sorry if you get a bunch of notifications from me for this, I botched the quote while editing and re-quoted without thinking about it.

I didn't say they wouldn't, just that you can't expect them to. I sure as hell wouldn't be replying to you if weren't quoting me. Few thread discussions are so interesting to me that I find myself constantly revisiting them to see what new comments have been posted.

Also, it's not like we're talking about anything difficult here, all you have to do is click one button.

Plenty of them, in fact, even though my posting behavior can't be that alien to anyone who's ever visited another forum besides this one.
This is really the only forum I've been active in, I'll admit, though I've lurked in many others and all the one's I can recall have had similar setups. Regardless, it shouldn't really matter what people do outside this little island of sanity in the ocean of putrid shit that is the majority of the internet.

While in Rome etc

Have you ever noticed how JIM AND YAHTZEE HAVE NEVER BEEN SEEN IN THE SAME PLACE AT THE SAME TIME?! Oh wait, yes they have. Well, there goes that joke...
You're doing it wrong. In a true conspiracy theory, you're supposed to ignore all evidence to the contrary. Bonus points if you blame "THEM" or accuse people who "believe" in the evidence as "sheeple."

For example, Obama is a Muslim. How do we know this? Because Muslim men cannot wear gold, and Obama took off his wedding ring for a few days in 2012. Now, some sheeple might tell you that the prohibition on gold is disputed amongst Muslims, or that the fact he wore a gold ring for so long indicates he wasn't following it in the first place, but that's just the official story THEY made up to convince the weak-minded proles.

Similarly, I'm sure all evidence of Jim and Yahtzee not being the same person is all doctored and/or coerced. I mean, think about it: have you ever met someone who met them both who didn't live in a country? And who runs countries? Governments! And who runs governments? THEM! Clearly, not only are Jim and Yahtzee the same person, they're also Obama!
You made me smile at a time when I needed it... Thank you chap!

Oh wow, completely forgot I made this thread, heh. Do put the silly argument going on here to rest, I edited my original post, taking out the "Literally". While I did think they were literally on opposite sides, I want to stomp out such a pointless argument.

Anyway, this isn't suppose to be taken seriously anyway. It was just a funny observation I made.

Also, I really think the two need to have their own video series together. Maybe like "No Right Answer", but they argue about games, or something.
