It's title doesn't ring any bells, the box/cover art, is uninspired. The date on it says it was made recently, yet it is far under the standard price, new. You show a friend, and they say, "Aw, that looks awful!"
You smile and say, "I know right? I'm tottally getting it!"
"No dude/dudette, it's going to suck!"
You laugh, "I know, that is the point!"
"Whatever dude/dudette, you're crazy."
You buy it. You play/watch/read it. You laugh at how bad it is and have a good time doing it.

What was it called?
Movies/Games/Books/Other all apply.

John and the Arduous Lawnmower Refund.

It's an RPG with 1 inventory slot. For the broken lawnmower. There are 2 mobs: the guy at the checkout and his manager. You cannot kill or otherwise attack either.

Hmm, can't say I have too many of those experiences. When I first started gaming though I bought EA Classics because my computer was really really bad. After I had worked through the Star Wars games on offer and only finding one worth a damn, (Rogue Squadron 3D,) I started taking what I considered risks. I saw this silly looking game that was kind of cartoony with skeletons, box blurb said something about art deco environments and a murder mystery. It peaked my interest and though it wasn't my style, (the games I played were pretty much limited to third-person vehicle games like Rogue Squadron and Recoil,) and I thought "well if I don't like it I'll just return it for store credit", (you could do that with games in those days.) I bought it. As you no doubt have guessed it was Grim Fandango and it was awesome.

"Continuity theft: the beginning of the end of all things"

In which you play as a teenager suffering depression, as they wake up to find that their life has changed due to "insert catastrophic event here", which can only be undone by comepleting a bunch of non-connected arbitrary minigames that only require you to press X/A a few times in order.

... I'm not good at concepts, even if they're trying to be bad

Off topic: How do you write the word "The" upside down on a keyboard? Captcha is asking me to...

I was with a friend intending to buy gears of war two, next to it was some game i'd never heard of with a power suit sorta guy on the front, it was all green and wierd but i had played Bethesda games and thought i don't really like gears of war and its expensive. so Fallout 3 i wonder if this will be beter than gears of war 2?

i guess i don't have to explain it was,.

(you know i havn't seen any gears of war references on the escapist i'm not complaining. its just as fan boys they ussually like to make there presence known)

I don't have enough disposable income to buy an unknown game for the sake of it...

I almost picked Mario Party DS instead of Loz: PH if that counts.

Deadliest Catch: The videogame.
Bear Grylls: The videogame.

If only they weren't both $25...

Harpoon: The Reykjavic Whale Watching Massacre. It's a film, a pretty bad film but the title was just so amazing I had to buy it. For £3 why not?

Infact I buy a few films that way, a local supermarket near me used to sell straight to DVD shitty horror films for £3 a go so every so often I'd go in and get a couple. I should have brought Dead Snow while I had the chance, I actually LIKE that film, there one week, gone the next.
