I'm starting to care a lot less for Bioshock 2 each day that passes...

I've come to the conclusion that a sequel to one of the best games ever is a really stupid thing!
So do you feel the same about Modern Warfare 2?

Not criticizing your views on the matter.. just curious :)

I have a bad feeling about Modern Warfare 2 as well. Mostly because it's Activision that makes it...
Infinity Ward makes it, Activision publishes it, this is the difference between developers and publishers.

Its the same reason Im keeping my hopes low for Mass Effect 2
But Mass Effect was always planned to have sequels.

I'm not sure whether Bioshock was ever planned to have a sequel but Bioshock 2 feels a bit tacked on, if that makes sense.

It's looking pretty good so far though.

Some of the most memorable moments in Bioshock for me at least were the non-storyline setpiece events like early in the game when you see the shadow of a baby carriage, and if you sneak up to it, you hear an insane lady lament the loss of her child. Events like that were plenty to be found if you chose stealth over Rambo style run and gun.
There was a gun in the pram, you know. That adds a whole new level of depravity. She's replaced her baby with a gun.

It's moments like that which make Bioshock truly great.
Yeah I know it was a gun.

yeah.. i dont think they will come close to topping the original bioshock.. it was just... so atmospheric.. so balanced... being a big daddy kind of takes the fear out of big daddy's... lol if u know what i mean... in bioshock 1 the splicers never dared touch the big daddys except for the occasional adam run... and in bioshock 2... if that element stays then u wont have to fight much.. and if it doesnt... then it takes the fear and power of being a big daddy away...
Well from what I've read, the Big Sister will hopefully take the place of the Big Daddy when it comes to being the bigger fish (hehe undersea pun).

Yeah i'm pretty sure the big sister will be able to give you a big enough atmospheric edge, not to mention the Splicers probably have plenty of ambushes to make you jump.

I've been trying to as well but...well, you guys know me. I failed horribly, I'm completely psyched for it. Although I do think that it might be alright, since the story was written to be part of a trilogy from the beginning.

well, who knows there could be a plasmid or tonic that makes you invisible or more quiet. i really doubt that they will take out the stealth element entirely.
also can someone help me out with this. if its eight years after the first bioshock how are you the first big daddy?

The first one was created before bioshock one, surviving the fall of rapture and Jack's incursion into the city. He can still be around.
Yes I don't like bioshock 2 mainly because bioshock 1 ended well with little room for a sequel (prequel is another matter but it shouldn't be multiplayer).

The way i see it is, THE BIG DADDY, one of the most terrifying enemies in a game EVER and now, you get to play as one! and with two player introduced in the begginig you get to play as a splicer as well!! Also Jhonen Vasquez, creator of Invader Zim and Jonny the Homicidal Maniac did some of the concept art for it and he is possibly one of the best cartoon artist ever to grace T.V and Comic books alike.

So what I think is with Bioschock 2 its just win, after win, after win!

BRING ON BIOSCHOCK MOVIE 2010 YEAH!!!!!
of all the games that could have a movie produced i'd say Bioshock would be one of the most difficult, and if they pulled it off, awesome.

Really? Apart from the fact the main character doesn't speak I though it'd be one of the best ones to do (good story for one and fairly interesting for another. Strip away some side quests top cut down the time). Sure, it'll require a lot of work but it could be great.

Once again my poor word choice hinders me.
What I should've said is the it is one of the easiest to pull off from my viewpoint since it has a solid story, setting and characters to build on. I was just curious why you'd think it'd be difficult.
Diction, you are my bane!
Edit: quotes fixed.

If Bioshock 2 doesn't end up as expected, then I'll go play the first Bioshock. All I'm hoping to see is a return of the crossbow, the Chameleon gene tonic, and at least a reference to Sander Cohen.

I dunno, the first one bored me to death and I couldn't clearly make out what I was shooting at most of the time because they attempted to re-create the doom 3 lighting system.

well, i thought it would be difficult because 1: the main character never talks, some good dialogue from him would be awesome. and 2: i just think re-creating the atmosphere and feel of the world would be hard to cram into a couple hours. most of the atmosphere is generated by all the little things that you pick up on or experience. (for me one of the coolest moments was raiding an office for supplies and all of a sudden a big daddy was walking on the sea floor outside a window slowly chugging along, idk why but it added a lot to the atmosphere of an otherwise bland room.) it was all the little things over time that made the world feel real, i just don't see it being very easy to add dialogue to the main character, and still be able to compress the story into 2 hours, while maintaining the atmosphere. oh and this would be one of the most CG'd movies ever. period. i don't know if you could make any of the scenes without CG. it would be an extremely expensive movie that probably wouldn't pay for itself in box office sales.

oh that actually makes a lot of sense

For the uninitiated, let's play catch-up: Jack is gone; which ending of the original was "canon" is apparently irrelevant to the plot; you're playing a completely different character; and the only character from the first game that we know features in this one, so far, is Dr. Tennenbaum.

Those are the facts. And now, back to the opinions.
