Getting trapped on level 9 of 10 in Dungeons of Dreadmor, and summarily dying permanently. RRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

I love that game so much, but death can be so devastating when you get so close to victory.

In Banjo Kazooie N&B, I hate that the garage is so small, the limit to the usuable parts and that some parts cannot be used in multiplayer. Other then that, the best vehicle game I have ever played.

Fallout (3 Vanilla and New Vegas) the ending not being able to be continued past.... just a terribly broken concept in today's open world RPG market

Oblivion: the leveling system. what kinda sense does it make to level in the skills you don't need in order to achieve the highest levels of the skills you do need so that you can get max level? it still hurts my brain to make sense of...

The delivery of the story in The World Ends With You. I mean, they could probably have gotten some proper voice acting for those bits, even if people would skip past it, instead of just having lots of dialogue blocks. Not to mention the ridiculous number of cliches they pull out...but the plot is interesting and the actual gameplay bits are fun, so I'd still recommend it to anyone looking for a good RPG for the DS.

Everything outside of headshots when using VATS in Fallout 3 is waste of time. Why bother going for the leg when one or two shots will rip the head clean off or detonate the entire body?

That awkward moment when you blast someone full on with the Gnasher and nothing happens
That awkward moment when you and an opponent both miss with the sawed-off shotgun and just strafe each other while reloading...

Oh yeah that really overpriced DLC that Gears is offering..

I can't really complain because I actually bought the season pass but...

DAMN YOUR CLIFFYB FOR BEING SO CHARMING!

Deus Ex. Pick absolutely any aspect about that game, and I will give you a paragraph about how much it sucks.

Yet, it's my favorite game of all time. Fancy that.

In New Vegas there is a very legitimate reason as to why there is no post-ending gameplay.

Almost all decisions you make throughout the game reflect in the ending, there are thousands of combinations of different outcomes and for Obsidian to program them all would require overhauling the entire game; characters, places, factions etc.

Also, by having no post-enind it means the game has more closure, in that you are told what happens to people/factions/places usually both immediately after the game ends and what would happen in the future. If you were to be able to go back to these places you could change this and the endings would mean nothing and would be pointless.

Besides, the game tells you when you can't return, so I have no idea what the big problem is.

I hate it when games limit number of companions. I understand "why", but i can't stand it.
Baldur's Gate saga comes first to the mind. So are Fallouts.

Just imagine :
"So, we all agree that the Fellowship of Ring should be assembled. Now, Frodo, pick your companions. By the way, you can't take more than four of them and one has to be that fat, slow redneck from your village."

Dragon Age: The boss fights, I suck at them...

Fallout/Fallout 2: I can't stand the combat.

Fallout 3/New Vegas: So glitchy...

KotOR: Agree that the parts with the turret shooting down the Sith ships sucks.

Mass Effect: The Mako.

Mass Effect: Planet scanning...

Nearly ever JRPG ever: Grinding...

Oblivion: Not specializing in Stealth breaks the game.

Ocarina of Time: Water Temple, see I'm so original...

Super Mario Galaxy 2: Ugh, the levels with that bird...

There's probably more but these are the ones that come to mind.

Let's see...

Halo: The level design on all the games except for Reach

Far Cry 2: The lack of friendly AI

Dragon Age: For Origins, it was the random difficulty curve, for 2, the repetitiveness of the environment and the combat

Mass Effect: In 1, the Mako sections of course, and in 2, the planet scans, which alternated in between boring as hell and soothing...

L.A. Noire: That the interrogation sections let you know if you got a question wrong, which broke the immersion and made me more concerned with getting a perfect score than losing myself in the story and detective work

Odin Sphere- the item system SUCKS.
It's cool to combine things and get crazy amounts of phozons and level a couple times through dinking around with your inventory alone, but no matter how you try your bags end up stuffed ALL the time and it's way too hard to keep things organised and sift through it all for junk you can toss/combine.

Amazing game in every respect otherwise. If only they ported it to something more powerful than the PS2 so it wouldn't have slowdowns in epic fights... it's still one of my all-time favorite games.

Fire Emblem (Series in general) - The fact you lose characters permanently. I mean, it's a huge point for strategy, but nothing sucks more than almost getting through a chapter just to have one of your best guys get taken down by someone with an insane critical hit rate. Then it's just time to reload and try again...
