I only just realized it's a quarter past 3am and I only just beat the third dungeon in Zelda 2. I don't know how many times I was killed getting through it but I need to reiterate:

The Legend of Zelda 2: Link's Adventure is a great game. I'm liking it more than the original but it's so unforgiving it makes me want to break my 3DS. I'm getting this when I get an NES and I'll hate the difficulty then too but I freaking love this game anyway. I know Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask are the favorites but compare the Water Temple to the third dungeon in Link's Adventure THEN tell me which is the most annoyingly, aggravatingly, unforgivably, difficult and rage-inducing.

"We all grew up together and the former evil sorceress was our teacher and we only just now remember it" section of Final Fantasy VIII. Other then that I absolutely love that game.

I can't remember what they were called, and can't be bothered to look them up, but the two towers you have to zig zag through in Rogue Galaxy. Seemingly endless. But again, other then that I love that game. (It seems just about every RPG I like has one section I hate.)

Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne. One word: Dante.

Being forced to grind up the characters you just don't like purely so you can clear those damned forced character floors...

Ocaria of Time: Shadow Temple (unlike everyone else)
While not my least favorite temple (Damn thee Water Temple!) the boss of the Shadow Temple was by far my least favorite in the game.

Ocarina of Time: The owl. Oh yes, that little flying prick beats out Navi by a lot for me. Can't fast-forward past his drivel, never has anything usefull to say unlike Navi, and best of all once you get to the end of his speech, while you're still mashing the button to skip to his next line he asks if you want to hear it all again. And the cursor is set to yes (that is, it is said to confirm. It varies if he asks if you want to hear it again or if you understand, so whether 'yes' or 'no' makes him restart that speech varies each time, just to piss you off more), so if you're not carefull you'll mash on confirm and have to hear it all again.

Also, I don't hate the water temple that much EXCEPT for the fact that any mistake you make by going the wrong way at the wrong time requires fifteen minutes to fix by changing the water level at all three points again. I like the idea, but they could've made some sort of teleport system to the three changing points after you visited them once.

Sacrifice: The soul resource system meant that you could pretty much beat the AI's first few attack waves, by which point you'd have all his free souls and the rest of the mission became a mopping-up exercise. In multiplayer, it meant that often only the first 2 or 3 skirmishes mattered. Whoever wins those wins the game.

Deus ex HR: The spaz-attack animation of all women during conversations, and the idiotic story progression through the cutscenes. Both Adam and his enemies are totally incompetent there, with Adam letting everyone get the drop on him, and his enemies distracting him with information that is always spot on true.

Persona 2: Innocent Sin. The freaking demon negotiations. Grinding tarot cards can be downright infuriating.

Sure I'm not the first to say it, but the level scaling nonsense in Oblivion.

Also the skills system in Soul Calibur IV, and how the skills available to you depend entirely on the equipment you wear, so that if you want to look cool or stick to a certain concept you end up weak and pathetic and if you want to be awesome and powerful you end up looking like a dominatrix wearing clown shoes and a bowler hat.

I hate how the Ganados took Leon's stellar jacket.

That thing looked so fucking cool, and 40 minutes in they just take it away from you...

Lame!

This seems to be kind of a trend in Team Ico's games.

The main character is basically treated as less important than the surrounding characters. In both Ico and SotC the main character's movements are much more wooden compared to Yorda, Agro, and the Colossi. This is probably because the games are not really about the protagonists, but about interacting with the secondairy characters.

I think you can expect the same in The Last Guardian, where the movements of the little boy will be a bit twitchy while the animation of the creature will be amazingly fluid.

I love Animal Crossing, but I hate how it punishes you for not playing it.

Just generally, I hate surprise bosses, particularly when it's in an RPG, because they're inevitably when I haven't bothered to heal in a while or when I'm training the weaker members of my party, and I end up getting completely slaughtered.

As for OoT, am I the only one who had little trouble with the Water Temple? And doesn't find Navi annoying at all?

actually I didnt find that to noticable in ICO (you know the little Ive played) its just after the big dramatic opening of SOTC and then your actually playing...and off he runs arms waving out in all kinds of directions...it just made me laugh

ICO I feel is a game that will mess with me, smi-fixed camera, labrynth mazes, explorations and puzzles, like my worst nightmare in game form :p

The community in MW2 (I wouldn't say I love it anyway, but I have to say that the community ruins the game)
The breakability of Oblivion. Get a high illusion skill, get into the Arcane University, enchant invisibility on all armour. Game = Done
Sometimes, the AI in Left For Dead 2. Rochelle, if you heal me once more when I have a health pack and near-full health and you're dying, I swear I will kick you.
The lack of cheats in Just Cause 2 (And a lot of games that would benefit from cheats). Don't you guys wish that Just Cause 2 just took that one step further to make it like GTA San Andreas? I mean, yeah, you can mod things, but all I want is something like a press x,y,a,b,up,down, left, right to get something ridiculous. Oh well.

The problem with the latest game I loved (Xeoblade Chronicles) is trying to find the NPC.
While the NPC info are store within a section but it's in a brainstorm type of chart (it show who like who, who love who and etc).
The problem with this is it does not show the exact location (only the town/ city names) nor is it organise since it is free flowly (you can't switch it to A-Z names mode if you are looking for a NPC with A as the first Letter in the name).
Since the map doesn't show where they are as well this can be very frustrating as you can spend ages looking for them without using this handy guide online (the game is already long due to it's vast enviroments).

The Last Guardian is the new game by Team Ico.

Just like Ico and SotC, it focusses on the relationship between the protagonist and an NPC, through gameplay.

Only this time the companion NPC isn't a little girl or a horse, but a 25-foot griffon.

I go back sometimes to 1998 and try to replay Tomb Raider 3, I have so many fond memories of that game. I got it when I was much younger and gave up on it but got back and completed it eventually. Every part was amazing, there are levels bigger than some games nowadays, it was clearly the peak of the PSx's processing power.

But dammit some goblin has replaced that game disc with some shoddy polygonised bullshit controlled unplayable game with a draw distance that would make silent hill blush. I want the game I remember, not the actual game I played :p
